5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

BoP is up Norff. Train was 20 minutes late setting off. But fortunately lost time and arrived 40 minutes late. Compo.
Cloth user happy. Kerching. More wobbleade chits. Yippee!
Back tomorrow.0 -
What ho midears! Oh that I had time for an epic post, but frankly bless you for keeping someone who has not been getting much fun in RL chortling here
Just the same, belated Happy Birthday Purple kitten!
OS Pleasures recently, before noro came in
Allium gravy with enough shallot & garlic (a) to count as a vegetable & (b) to stop most infectious diseases in their tracks. I doubt all this garlic will aid negotiation but who knows?!
I thought meretricious sounded intriguing but the idea of a meretrix was appalling. (Word nerd...)
Husband declaiming he has "Epic Lethargy!"
"I won't be sleeping with my teddy-sloth" - well, not tonight. Lad staying tonight so we can get over to see gran tomorrow.
Son has worn his boots down to the metal shank! His father just told him to go & fetch a specific bag & from it, three alternate pairs are hauled out.... [Prepping takes many forms, but hoarding boots hadn't occurred to me. With growing sons, it should have done!]
Watching an eBay sale getting somewhat out of hand. I *think* someone didn't check the decimal point as a silver charm (of no massively unusual features) is currently at £45.00! [And sold.]
Son has acquired a "basil seed drink with strawberry" that looks rather like a hybrid of frogspawn & Ribena. He seems perfectly content to gaze upon it rather than try to ingest it, but the male teenage metabolism may yet be his undoing.
Disagreements as to who gets to sit by the rug have descended into the vernacular again "pleb!" & (may some part of your anatomy) "be eaten by a badger" - boychicks are not for the faint hearted.
Husband has military tome on cooking & it has startlingly practical ideas, from when world wars one & two had just finished.
Cheerfully debating the merits of marzipan & Christmas cake. (Which is just serious fruit cake with seasonal decoration.)
Another colleague observing wryly that were their opinion heeded at home things might have been conducted differently. Not just me, then.
Roast pork supper - oh the joy of ring married to a good cook! <sprawled happily>
Colleague who had skin cancer surgery showing off scar (bless him - we're all riveted but don't want to gawk without an invitation) & much enjoyed OCT31=DEC25. He has left it on the board so tomorrow's class can chew on it, after they've done the work. One courageous pupil gave me the most wild-eyed look when I assured her it comes with practice but if 4 decades don't give you that certainty, little else will. [All survived.]
Not an obvious pleasure but with a junction closed by a car flipping on icy road, the police cars' lights were strobing in sequence to "Staying Alive" on the radio.
Glorious full moon!
Family schlep south to parents & grandparents to drop off Christmas presents "the Rudolph Run". Always starts in a mad panicky rush & settles as we stagger back north. [The chaps promptly open their presents & continue the character assassinations.]
Family singing Queen as we drive though. Ever since they were little cheeping "we will rock you", now Far More Bass but almost as good tempered.
Keeping the generations together can be tricky - one text read "I promise to shut up about families please come back to the sitting room". Oops. (Apparently I mentioned syphilis & they fled... That I was reading a great great cousin's research Was No Excuse.)
Have met additional family &, to my amusement & ire, heaps of family documentation have emerged that I have never seen. Seems that some trees are only shown to Family rather than family. I must chisel out three days with my Aunt, her photos & a computer.
Politics has my husband grousing we're living in "a pop o'matic universe".
Working from home so I can minister to the sick (well, retrieve them from school before they get to the messy stage). Of course they're blaming me for them being ill as it would be mean to accuse granny.
"Why are there packets of crisps on the bannister?"
"The bannister was hungry?"
OK, so as the rest of us bug-ridden souls head for clear soups etc, our staircase is happily scrunching. Fair enough.
Right. Health (lots of it!), strength love & courage to all who have need, hwbs & effective waterproofs & thermals likewise, and may the rest of the week/month/year run slightly more to plan.

dfv hope you're all feeling healthy again soon!
It's wild and windy and very cold up here! So windy I rustled up 2 loads of washing to go out on line.
Been a day of pottering around. Bathrooms are clean, floors are washed. Curtains bought yesterday have had their hems let down and are at a much better length.
Ravioli and pasta sauce for those that eat it ( not I)
Builder came and put up glass splash back for stove...not as easy as anyone thought! And kindly put the spare one in the laundry room on the wall at the dishwasher . Wall was getting splashed. Replacement door number 4 was put up. The little bits of cement that were on my patio doors were scraped off with the correct tool. All that remains is the painting of the plasterwork and that should be done tomorrow. Remaining balance was paid and that's it done! Hu-blooming rah! Seventeen weeks ! So much for 8.
Very quick dog walks as it was just foul out.
I may move furniture around tomorrow. It will be all over the place for decorating purposes anyway. See if things can be better positioned. But I now have the full width of radiator in extension as it was covered by glass panels and cupboard doors. My car boot is full of empty cardboard boxes and a spare panel of acrylic splash back and some worktop edging tape that I shall see if I can get a refund. Oh and a random spare cupboard door.
Washing some grubby cushion covers ....plaster dust gets everywhere and shall replace them with seasonal cushions. I currently live with 2 scroogelets ...shall be joining my Christmas fairy next week for 6 days of festivity!
Took the last of the sweet peas out the big tub and shall maybe (attempt) put last year's outside Christmas tree in it.
Postie came with lots of mail. From DD1. Post from there is so quick. Post from here is so slow. A beautiful decoration and lovely words that I wasn't supposed to open till the 1st but I peeked! Every envelope was badly ripped.
Have a lovely evening:)0 -
D4V hope you feel healthier soon.
1 I wrapped up my secret santa hygge gift box and its ready to go, I think it looks fab but I’m biased.
2 I went through my jumpers and put a big recycling bag together, really need to be brave and ditch a few more but I couldn’t decide on 3.
3 All pet bedding in the wash and hoovered up.
4 From the freezer I recovered some yellow sticker ribs that need cooking for 3 hours! Hmm so chucked them in, I covered them in honey and jack daniels made a home made coleslaw to go with it.
5 While that was baking, I climbed up a ladder and finished cleaning the kitchen wall and ceiling, I truly hated doing it a pleasure it’s done. Next up white paint, oh joy, first the bathroom ceiling then the kitchen I shall physc myself up at some point over the next few days.0 -
My five today are;
1) Funny how a simple head cold can make you feel so miserable anyway I'm definitely over this cold and really appreciating feeling good.
2) I baked a spicy fruit loaf in the bread maker this morning. The smell throughout the house was very Christmassy. I took some for my walking friend and also for Mum.
3) I went for my usual weekly walk after lunch. It was very cold but certainly made us walk faster.
4) I hung washing out in the very cold wind. Sadly I didn't notice the rain starting and got soaked taking it in.
5) A very productive day today. I sewed the knitting bag for dgd this morning and put the finishing touches to it after 3 when watching yet another Christmas movie. Tonight I will finish knitting the front of a summer jumper for myself.
Relaxing watching tv now after a good day xxDebt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

Pleasures for today (Tuesday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Left bigger son in bed as he felt ill. Took smaller son to school.
3) Got new blinds from Dunelm (more on that later).
4) Went to the tip to throw away small pieces of the cut down shed.
5) Took a bin liner of stuff to the charity shop and found a White Stuff woollen cardigan with hood that I am very pleased with.
6) Hens well despite cold (-3 this morning) and heavy rain.
7) Bigger son was miraculously better when I got home. Got him to put one of the blinds up. It is still not up despite him fiddling with it for hours. Terrible instructions, nothing on internet. Sister trying to give us directions in text message form as she is on holiday!
8) Spent a good hour working fire cement into the top of the stove/chimney join. Looked good. Also cleaned out the stove and hoovered any last traces of ash up. Then had to dismantle the hoover and wash it out plus the filters. :-/
9) Then had to clean the floors (ash everwhere) but they look better now.
10) Bigger son was better enough to head into college for the afternoon session. Managed to get off his motorbike after an emergency stop as it was ON FIRE!!! Something drastic had happened to it and petrol had got into the air filter and the filter was on fire. He said a passing lorry sending up spray (still raining) and wind helped to put it out.
Lit fire - air STILL getting in somewhere! Logs flaring up then burning to nothing in an hour when it used to keep in overnight. Not pleased.
11) I knew nothing of this until later as I went into town for a cup of tea with my school friend.
12) Made mince pies and jam tarts.
13) Enjoyed I'm a Celebrity.
14) In bed with 1 hwb and about to watch Holby City.0 -
Evening all - i am in a posh hotel in plymouth that we did not pay a posh hotel price for...
Pleasures for yesterday
1. marking is not a pleasure but getting through it is
2. 2 loads of washing done and hung out, though not dry
3. no meat monday meant soup and then lentil cottage pie, my fave
4. caught up some dr who - jury is still out
5. New great nephew born, a month early but all is well - his mum, my niece in law, hadn't even started her maternity leave  He was due on 18th december, which is my birthday and i said that i was expecting him to be named after me, or at least the masculine version. Those of you who know my real name will understand why they were not keen...:rotfl: or i said Jesus if he was born on christmas day - strangely they weren't keen on that either.:D
and today
1. I have finished this batch of marking. I have a 2 week respite before more comes in. Trouble is DD - the only teaching stuff i do now is marking....
2. nice walk to the station, even though it was raining
3. train to plymouth. DS met me en route. We've been discussing his options.
4. meal in spoons - veggie curry for me with a glass of wine.
5. DS wanted to see Fantastic beasts and we found an old fashioned, art deco cinema not far from the hotel. It was only £4.50. Why do ode0n have to charge so much??
RIght a full day for us so I'd best go to sleep. night allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Hellooooo!
I think I have written a list of five for Monday, previewed it, and not posted it......:o
Monday
1. Wizard of Oz at the REP. Fab! Made even better when we spotted an actor friend in the cast
2. Pre theatre dinner at Cafe Rouge with DS's
3. Enjoyable lesson with Year 11 class.
4. .....
5. ......
Tuesday
1. DS2 overslept, so opted to have a lift with DH. I got to work early for once :rotfl:
2. Took Y7 foraging for cones and nettles to make natural dyes. Cones are supposed to dye pale pink and nettles greenish yellow. They had great fun pretending to be Iron Age people. Though, it took me longer to fill out the risk forms than the time we spent across the road collecting stuff. :rotfl: I made them hot chocolate when we got back..... The boiled up pans of dye look like buckets of mud :rotfl:
3. Primary class were very imaginative.
4. EBay parcel sent.
5. DS2 at Cadets. Managed to watch Little Drummer Girl in between taxi duties.
Frith Hope DS1 motorbike is repairable.
Have a lovely day0
