My Blessings for today:
1. Finally had a decent night's sleep :j .
2. Last of Friday's laundry put away and airer folded up
for now!
3. Paid a visit to church office this morning to do a small job - ended up having a lovely couple of hours of 'proper girlie giggles' with two of the other women there :rotfl: .
4. Arrived back home for lunch - the last of the 'OOD Cheese' on (G/Free) Toast!
5. Visit from DGD1 (age 20) just arrived back from USA. She brought me some 'Jelly Belly' Jelly Beans - my favourites :j ! She's off back to Leeds Uni at the weekend for her 2nd Year.
6. The Turkey Steaks that I took out of the freezer for evening meal didn't thaw out- so we had Beans & Egg on Toast instead. Turkey will get used tomorrow with Sweet Chilli Sauce
.
7. Spent an hour putting summer clothes away into spare bedroom wardrobe and putting autumn/winter clothes into main one :j . I'd bought some new 'heavier weight' skirts back in May (on sale in catalogue) and didn't get around to wearing them, so new stuff to wear without spending any money now :T .0 -

Good Morning,
Recently.......
1. Screen printing class with a crafty friend. Made some prints to make into Xmas cards. Went hunting for Bodyshop freebies afterwards, and stopped off for free fizz in All Bar One on the way home!
2. Tree surgeon has cut down 4 trees in the garden. So much light! We will have firewood for years, and shredding for paths and hen pen when we have hired the shredder. Wood stacked in a rustic manner. :rotfl:
3. Batch cooked rtc mince and free apples. Made cottage pie with free potatoes from the school veg plot. Really nice to be doing cooking from scratch.
4. Hearing tales of friends holiday to Disney. A real adventure.
5. Collecting new hedge trimmer. (EBay purchase). So much lighter than old Black and Decker.
6. The The concert.
7. Finished Unforgotten.but carrying on with Bodyguard  Vanity Fair
Have a lovely day0 -
lifeintheslowlane wrote: »Am new to mse but love this thread, so will dive right in:
1) Drying washing on the line.
2) Reserving the books I need from the library, rather than ordering them online. And feeling smug about it.
3) Discovering a new (and very funny) podcast.
4) Ticking items off my To Do list.
5) Finishing off the leftover, homemade rhubarb crumble for lunch.
Hello and welcome :wave:- I love this thread, and I find lots of the Old-Style boards threads really good (and useful)
- Brought a couple of pelargoniums in, they look so colourful on the windowsill. Still got the major job of working out where to overwinter the rest of them, take cuttings etc and decided I'm going to put garlic cloves and some of my winter lettuce/spinach in the pots and baskets (if and when they germinate of course! :rotfl:0
- Watching my little cocker teasing the piggy pug by grabbing windfall apples first and getting pug to chase him - pug always wins and ends up being the one who eats them :rotfl:
- Loving seeing the leaves start to turn
-Took a chance and started harvesting and freezing nasturtium leaves - OH said his mum used to put them in salad and he liked the peppery taste, and I read that you can use them like spinach, so worth a try! I have so many
- Dug up the rest of the basil (as it was looking past it), and froze it, and lots more thyme - hopefully it'll see me through the winter0 -
Welcome lifeintheslowlane
1. Work ok - left alone by msnagers. Always a good sign.
2. Journey was good. The motorway was closed just before I got in it.
3. Spent some time in the garden. I find it relaxing.
4. Tea of lamb burgers from the freezer
5. Watched rugby an A league game on tv.0 -
Welcome lifeintheslowlane, love the name
Monday pleasures,
Blitzed upstairs and moved a couple of lamps around so my bedside one is taller and will hopefully be better for reading in bed.
The sparrow squadron making the most of the spa facilities, must have been a dozen of them having a communal bath.
Sausage sarnie for lunch after a fast morning.
The rousing reception given to Mr Cook on reaching his century and then when he was finally out, much kudos for the Indian team on respect rightly shown.
Steve McQueen pony had been moved to more secure paddock and had obviously gorged herself on fresh grass, very sleepy when she came in. I stayed with her to make sure everything was in working order and no possibility of colic.
New to us programme, Hang Up’s, much enjoyed.0 -
1) I joined the library this morning and now have 'real' books to read instead of the kindle.
2) I love to be able to go and buy what I need as I need it and not have to lug huge heavy bags of shopping home on the bus.
3) Weather is cooler today and just edging into rain which is most pleasant after all the heat and dryness of the summer.
4) In a role reversal Nell brought us some courgettes and beetroot from 'her' garden when she came over, all those years of giving the girls produce from ours and the allotment came home to roost, made me giggle!
5) We went to the rugby last night using our season tickets, it was a B game and they played the academy side who were thoroughly trashed by a strong Saracens youth team so we came home early. It was lovely to go though!0 -
Hello from sunny Spain!
Have had a lovely few days - wedding on Saturday which was heaps of fun, then dashed off first thing Sunday to catch a flight with a friend.
1. Lovely food - today started the day with a glass of champers, a huuuge plate of fruit and a tofu scramble. All meals have been lush and they’ve catered well for vegans and I’ve been relatively virtuous (apart from copious amounts of wine...)
2. NO WASHING UP
3. Treated myself to a new winter coat and boots yesterday (finally gave up on finding at Chazza). I spent a fortune but on things I know will last years. And I will sell my cloak/cape when home (which is very stylish but not at all practical especially when I wear a backpack to work!)
4. Great neighbours who are looking after the place whilst I’m gone.
5. Only two more sleeps until I see my lovely hubby!
And a sneaky 6. Enjoying reading all of the books I never get round to! Read Eat and Run by Scott Jurek (vegan ultra running champ) and now reading a silly comedy.0 -
1) Having dinner prepared (meatballs in tomato sauce) and simmering away in the slow cooker all day.
2) Catching up with old friends.
3) Lighting my favourite fig-scented candle.
4) Fairy lights.
5) My friend brings an unexpected treat - her delicious, homemade cupcakes.0 -

Got to say goodbye to DH - off motorcycling - more Round Britain Rally & will be away overnight

Picked up 276 pieces of litter on walk to sm.
