  • Hello Old-stylers - Blessings for today:

    1. Another full night's sleep - looks like the prayers and 'new meds' have worked now; night time breathing is much improved :j .

    2. Bed stripped - bedding washed in two loads and put onto line to dry as it was 'nice and blowy' - duvet swapped from 'summer' to 'autumn' - got OH to help me put clean cover back on again. I can manage the 'king-size duvet and cover' that go on the double bed on my own ................... but NOT the 'super-king duvet and cover' that go on the king-size bed :(.

    3. Late lunch of GF Ham Salad sandwiche before dashing out for a late afternoon meeting.

    4. Good Meeting with colleagues from charity shop to discuss arrangements for our 'Christmas Cracker Event' ....................... wow where has this year gone  .

    5. Quick pop-in to A$DA for a 'whoopsie check' - Extra Special Jalfrezi Curry for OH for £1.20, so he's a happy bunny .................. or he WILL be when it gets brought out of the freezer at the weekend.

    6. Phone call from DD to remind me that I'm 'supervising' DGS1 (age17 with ADHD/ADD/ASD) tomorrow while she starts new college course in Horticulture :D! I need to go for a 'dressing change' first, but neighbour will call in on him till I get there ;)! I'll have to think up something to help keep him occupied and out of too much mischief .

Have a lovely evening, people and may the 'Sleep Fairy' wave her magic wand over you all tonight.

    A busy Tuesday.

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Bigger son to college, smaller son to school - via McDonalds for a treat breakfast. They haven't both gone to the same school since 2012 but at least they are in the same town now!

    3) Popped to Wilkos to pick up engine oil for my brother but also got a new paint tray and some polyfilla while I was there.

    4) Also did well in Aldi with all the bits we need for this week at £7.

    5) Hens well and 4 eggs.

    6) Did loads once I got home (which was only 10am). Sanded all the loose paint and plaster in the bathroom with my new detail sander. Filled every hole and hairline crack in the house. Sugar soaped the entire bathroom and then gave it its normal clean. All set to paint it tomorrow.

    7) My brother popped round and said he will replace the few bricks outside that are weather blown and fill in the holes where the water pipes leave the house (that were formerly hidden by the porch).

    8) Went back out 1.30ish and dropped 3 bags off at the charity shops. Always good in St Js. Then looked round them and got myself a Seasalt tunic. Bigger son wanted a smart shirt to wear with jeans for his NCS graduation do on Thursday. Found a Zara slim fit shirt for him. £3 for each.

    9) Had a sandwich in new Waitrose.

    10) Met my friend for a cup of tea and got the bathroom paint from Homebase while I was out that way.

    11) Got home and bigger son has managed 2 days without smoking - despite "twenty people" offering him one today! He is getting quite grumpy now. I showed him the new shirt and was told, "I'm not wearing that, I'd look like a DRAMA TEACHER" !!!

    12) Watched Holby City.

And now bigger son and I are ill. :-( I thought I'd got more normal reflux sort throat but a silly, tight cough has appeared and bigger son has exactly the same. Losing my voice now.
  • Frith hope you feel better soon.

    1. Bus was in time.

    2. Chat with colleague first thing and I think we both cheered each other up. She has had bad news recently.

    3. My line manager made the same suggestion for them to help with my back pain. I have explained why it won't work but it's their only solution so I have agreed to it. Hopefully I will now find it easier to take a day off sick when my back is painful.

    4. DS2 cooked tea. Lots left over for lunch too.

    5. DS1 phoned and had long conversation with DS2.
  • - Feeling a bit more caught up at work, and hitting our target again which is good. Gone into personal overdraft due to making a loss over the summer, so not being able to take money out - but I'm not feeling down about it, we're so lucky OH is ok and getting better the whole time, and the overdraft/not taking wages out ti month is largely a temporary measure to make sure the work account is ok while we're away and no forgotten payments bounce etc. Not great but we'll get it sorted one way or another!

    - only 5 days til our holiday :j:j

    - Working on plans for big changes in the garden when we get back (plants not infrastructure!), exciting :)

    - I'm getting used to my new pattern at work and it seems it be working

    - Loving Bake Off - can't believe last year was the first time I watched it, mainly out of curiosity after the fuss about it moving channels- instantly hooked :D
