Frith I hope you feel better soon. Similarly, Dh and I were out yesterday, and I very suddenly went from well to not well, felt like a reflux problem but appears to be a bug that’s hitting I’m desperately trying to hold it at bay but it’s got other ideas.
1 Reading through your pleasures.
2 Having time to boil eggs for lunch, and a pork roast is cooking through for dinner just the joint, boiled pots and veg to go with.
3 Keeping a good eye on the online banking, I didn’t have cash on me yesterday so found I paid contactless out of convenience but needed to check amounts.
4 Trying to reclaim the living room, the animals appear to have gone feral, with the loss of one they are marking everywhere and bickering it doesn’t make for a pleasant living space and I am threatening to cage them for a day if they don’t get their act together.
5 I popped to Mr T very early, as I wasn’t going for reductions however it literally couldn’t have been better I went for specific bread and milk and both were half price, so I also picked up just bits we needed and everything was half price, I even picked up celebrations for £2. Feeling very lucky and the freezer is now packed full. Happy times.:o0 -
PK - hope you're doing OK. Cough is lowering but will probably be OK tomorrow.
Pleasures for today (Wednesday).
1) Good to get up after almost no sleep! Couldn't sleep as I felt ill (that's a design fault!)
2) Hens well with 3 eggs.
3) Had to take smaller son's coursework in as he forgot it so bigger son got to do lots of driving (more on that later).
4) Dentist's appointment for bigger son. Such a farce that we were laughing when we got back out on the street. A youth appeared in the consulting room - surly, monosyllabic, hair shaved up the sides with a man bun, trousers at half mast with his pants showing - and he was the dentist! Bigger son has been having jumpy pains in one of his eye teeth since it was filled - and this bloke said, "Yeah, right, we'll just give you a root canal" Er, no thanks! Never seen this guy before - bring back Naheem.
5) Had a look round dentist town. Bigger son drove out of the car park and I saw my colleague from years ago who looked rather surprised to see a young man driving me about! He last saw bigger son when he was about 6.
6) On into Ludlow for practise driving through this:

No mirrors were lost.
7) Made 5 jars of damson jam.
8) Have been in bed since 7ish, watching DIY SOS and will watch something that was on channel 4 in a minute (can't remember what it was!)0 -

Good Morning,
BoP Enjoying the little snippets of your tour!
Frith What a beautiful setting for a driving lesson!
Yesterday
1. Had 2 parking tickets cancelled :j Thanks to MSE advice, and template, and photos of the car park illustrating how useless the signage is :rotfl:
2. DH has had his 10 years long service award. We can plan a holiday, and his company will pay for flights :j
3. Nice meeting this morning.
4. Admin day......actually got some done!
5. Spaghetti Bol and glass of wine to celebrate DH award and parking ticket success. On a week day too
Have a lovely day0 -
1. Listening to school children discussing how to get to school as their were on the wrong bus. It sounded like they're were in a completely different town.
2. Cheered a colleague up. By showing an interest.
3. Left work on time. Looked doubtful for a while.
4. Had pork roasted with apple and potato wedges.
5. Quiet evening and downloaded some free books.0 -
Morning - got a sore throat again, had it for about 2 weeks without it really developing into anything but it is wearing
- Popped into Halford's, made a purchase and got registered for the free MOT - for a £4 tube of superglue, not bad :j
- Seedlings are germinating already
- Suddenly overwhelmed with work, which is great but we're shattered :rotfl:
- Garlic chives still flowering and looking really pretty
- Lots of little chillis coming on plant, need to decide whether to bring in or leave out while we're away0 -
Wednesday pleasures:
1) Allowing myself a slow start to the day, with an extra cup of tea and a cosy read.
2) I stop procrastinating and tackle a job which I've been putting off.... and find I'm really enjoying it!
3) Pressing the pause button for an afternoon cup of Earl Grey.
4) A hearty, warming dinner of sausage and bean hotpot, with buttery mash, goes down well with the family.
5) Catching up on GBBO (we love Rahul!)0 -
Five Blessings for yesterday:
1. Another good night's sleep :j.
2. Spent time at DD's with DGS1 - he was quite well-behaved for me, though he did become a bit bored around late afternoon.
3. Got DGS1 to help me come to terms with DD's Recycling - the system in their town is quite ridiculous - pink bag / blue bag / black box grrrrrr  . Where I live, we just have one 'full size wheelie bin' that ALL the recycling goes into - and it's sorted at the Recycling Centre :j.
4. Pizza for evening meal - rang OH on the way home to get him to warm the oven before I arrived - my Pizza Express Gluten Free pizza was delicious :drool . Far nicer than that 'cauliflower base THING' that I tried a few weeks ago. I KNOW that Supermarket Boxed Pizza is not very 'moneysaving' - but, in my defence, it WAS 'whoopsied' and I 'had a need for speed' yesterday evening
.
5. Lovely meeting with Bible Study Group at church - I've missed them all for the past few weeks, so really good to see them all again. Got a lift back home from the Leader and his wife, so was back home by 9.30 :T.
6. Managed to catch up with Emmerdale and Corrie (2 of my guilty TV pleasures) on ITV Hub before crawling into bed.

1. Back from Spain. Managed to get a bit of colour. Hotel was very posh, food was fab, and lovely by the beach. Ate out in small villages so avoided all the Brits Abroad...ha!
2. Last night I paid for the man in front's shopping at Lidl. He was a few pence and going to put some potato waffles back (he only had 5 items!) so I quietly insisted on paying the whole thing as I didn't have cash to give him 20p. Gave me the warm fuzzies as he was so grateful.
3. My shopping only came to £40.10.
4. DD sits the 11+ (secondary school entrance exam) today. She is cool as a cucumber, which is good. She knows whatever happens I'm proud, and she'll go to a fab school (even if we have to pay for it). When I was at school I was in 'Gifted and Talented' and took my SATs a level up from everyone else in the year. Then, on the 11+ I passed but got a pretty middle-of-the-road score. My parents lied to their friends about it and I felt like a massive disappointment despite getting into grammar school. We're going to make sure DD feels loved, clever and important whatever the outcome. Tonight I have promised Chinese takeaway to celebrate getting it out of the way. A place near us does veggie 'duck' pancakes. Yummo.
5. My tyre blew last night as I pulled up from Lidl on way back from airport. This is a good thing because a) it didn't happen on the 1.5hr drive back from Gatwick and b) I'm blessed enough to have the money to cover 4 top quality tyres which mean I can drive to France in the winter without changing them. Thanks YNAB!
6. I work at a place that's nice enough to let me stay home when stuff like this happens so I don't have to worry about taxis/buses to work
7. The plumber is here installing a toilet/sink combo downstairs. He is removing the yicky sink in the utility room and hopefully will also pop in the towel rail and toiler roll holder. I have a cheap mirror from IKEA to put up. Hopefully by tonight it'll look super fancy and I won't have to tell guests to nip round the wall into the utility room to wash their hands after a wee :rotfl:0
