Pleasures for today (Friday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens well and 4 eggs.
3) A busy morning! Went round the charity shops, got petrol, picked up bigger son's Not Girlfriend, went to Tool Station, Wilkos, SportsDirect, Sainsburys...
4) Back for lunch with smaller son and our Settlers of Catan game has come from Ebay. Not had chance to play it yet.
5) Smaller son went to cricket at New Rd with my brother and mum - playing Durham, which is where my mum grew up. But Durham lost and we won! He enjoyed that trip out.
6) While he was away, I tidied and dusted the whole lounge (no mean feat with dust falling after the kitchen ceiling was replaced), hoovered, 2 loads of washing, cleaned the stairs - and put up the birthday banner and fairy lights.
7) Smaller son back and all quiet then got a very polite phone call from 2 teenagers asking could I pick up bigger son "if I didn't mind" and "Did I have a pen to take some directions?" :-D Bigger son outrageously drunk, sitting in my car (and then on the sofa) phoning all his friends to tell them how much he loves them!
8) Smaller son waited until midnight and it is now his birthday and he is 15. He opened his present (a new football) and cards received so far and is very happy now and we are off out to breakfast then going to Alfreton on the supporter's bus to watch his team play against them.
9) Bigger son is snoring but will doubtless be fine in the morning.0 -

Car Loaded!
And BoP's Off!
Just as the nice letter form the emporium database arrives that searched my habbits. A massive £4 from the emporium T. That's a tub of cocoa and a mars bar then! No waste!
Astonished that their database writes only when the brats are off and we have none|!
Have a lovly holiday
Real lovely bit of nostalia yesterday having a big sort out in the office, we've had a few tough years (which seem to be on the up now thankfully), so it was good to look at happy memories, and be positive about the future
Lovely curry at our favourite Indian restaurant
OH doing park run today - good to see him improvng all the time
Horribly humid yesterday but nice to have a bit of heat back after the rain
My sunflowers, which haven't come true to the seeds but are a glorious mix anyway0 -
Wobbleades. Sunk.
Tea about to be drunk.
Snorkers. Ready!
Here we go!

Happy Birthday to son of Frith.
BOP on tour, oh lord.
Friday pleasures,
After rough night of non sleep due to heat and sinus pain oh that blessed first sip of tea..
Toasted cinnamon bagel with cream cheese for breakfast, carbs and fat, get me
Over to see horse girlie, already hot so groom in the shade of her paddock then sat on me bucket whilst she grazed all around, so peaceful just the two of us.
Too warm to do much else but read and doze on the sofa, might have watched a bit of cricket too.
DSIL still in hospital, took her much needed supplies of fruit pastilles and wet wipes.0 -
Migods is that the time? It's wonderful what a couple of weeks off will do to your grip on the everyday, says she trying to find the reins, let alone pick up the slack.
Anyway loads of OS pleasures, starting with much enjoying all yours!
The beautiful pinks of cut yew wood. Amazing colours.
The offspring are gradually becoming nocturnal - not a chirp before 9 routinely & heading for 10. September may present an Unpleasant Shock but the teenage metabolism is said to run a few hours behind GMT.
Swabbed my cheeks and sent off the swabs for the bone marrow donor register. I'm a bit old & on medication but, if someone needs several units of stem cells, I'll stop taking my pills & revert to being a pedestrian for a couple of years (if needed). Not quite an OS pleasure, but including myself on the potential donor register is a pleasure. [Whee! Cheek swabs received, soon I will be processed & in the pool as a bone marrow potential donor.]
This morning's light breeze has the propellers on various balsa planes rotating.
Son home (a week away in Cornwall with gf & extended family!), washing on, fraternal bickering not yet started as only 2 currently awake.
Blind chap & his assistance dog taking a break from awareness fundraiser in supermarket. Both sat in the sun, taking pulls on water bottles - dog's bottle has folddown bowl to lap from!
"And now this freezer isn't closing either. Blessed art the..." Son is suffering with freezer Tetris.
In the early morning coolth & rain, son & I are bonding "you're an annoying lout at times but we missed you"
Not the usual supermarket where I'm known, so lovely assistant prowling with bag & knife to hunt my yeast! Nearly gutted a shopper (as her carrying knife technique really not how we teach scouts) but very sweet of her. Generous portions too!
Ah technology - son wanted an electric razor - able to list top 10 this year & recognise one, then price checked & bought cheaper on Amazon. Everyone happy! [Er, did check other sites through google.]
Family has "discovered" barbecue ribs baked at home. I foresee a trip to Aldi to get a test to compare with the Asda brand. (Local Chinese does glorious ribs but not available 24/7 which now appears to be required!) [very acceptable!]
Added 108 faces to the family tree, working photo hints & patching in spouses from wedding shots. Added 20 more souls, too. Proved to myself I cloned a branch somewhere dashit but great to get faces to names.
Oh my. Son reversed and goosed himself on corner of a kitchen unit. MIL nearly wet herself laughing!
"Family invertebrate day!" "None of my family are invertebrates." "Dashed good of you to say so!"
Just looking forward to gym time. Trying new running shoes. Feeling the sweat trickle & the endorphins gallop. I'm gradually becoming the sort of healthy blighter I used to quietly evade! I still love things with plugs on, which is just as well as they pay the mortgage. [New shoes need orthoses, but I'm nowhere near as crocked as I feared.]
Argh. Son wants to buy a third mountain bike (after previous two returned as faulty) Still Online. I'm all for the extra consumer rights but Ye gods. Still, maybe third time will be the charm.
Eldest back on from first day at work & he is crackered. Rightly.
I got a peaseblossom! Climbing up the bamboo canes! In the three quarter shade despite neglect. My, this heat. Backyard borage thriving & the jostaberry has developed two new shoots despite being pot bound. Assorted goosegog cuttings need to go into the garden whenever there's a bit of rain forecast.
Happy as a clam - Lidl had both running tights & leggings so have stocked up! (Where the other 3 pairs have got to I will doubtless find out someday.)
Playing hide and seek with son - he makes his bed with clean bed linen, I restore his tobacco to him....
More nasturtium seed saved - from the raised beds at the health centre. (I've emailed the co-ordinator & offered three other varieties for next year.)
Discovering that despite two weeks leave I can still get up at 6 without pain. Eldest starting work finds it all Much Harder - experience will help, meanwhile we're easing him in a bit. With pizza & chips as his feet hurt! When he's slept and fed, I'll take him to Go Outdoors for the most supportive but comfortable trainers I can afford for him.
The joy of seeing parents is enhanced by diligent planning to extract the maximum from the two days, whilst not exhausting them. That I'm not taking all three lads means we can do more as we'll be one carload.
Right. I'm told the hosepipe ban is off, but I'll still not wash the car - why start? All health, strength, courteous teenagers, excellent cooks, good memories, line dried bathtowels (love that scritchy feeling!) & happy travels to such as care for same & I really must try harder with the 5 a day!0 -
Morning all - epic post DforV
Pleasures for Thursday
1. Yoga
2. OH and i caught the train to ICT - train was a bit hideous (hot and crowded) but did manage to wrestle with statistics
3. Couldn't decide what to have for tea - OH suggested stir fry, i said i didn't fancy that and cooked fajitas :rotfl: not really much difference
4. Went out for the evening with an old friend of OH's. Much wine drunk by me  he looks really well
5. Our new roof is being installed, including a new velux window. There isn't too much mess
And yesterday
1. Cool, misty and drizzly in ICT - this is not a pleasure. Although it was nice to have a touch of 'autumn' for a change and quite atmospheric. Summer has returned today
2. Went for a walk above Barmouth - but could have been anywhere as we couldn't see it :rotfl: We try to do a new thing every time we come (and mostly manage it), we can do it again as a new thing because we might see the view next time. Especially as it was called 'the panorama walk' :rotfl:
3. Lovely lunch of quiche from the bakery - always a treat if you don't have it too often
4. Afternoon tea and cake as our reward for the walk. did a spot of 'baby bothering' (i am a bit pied piper when babies and small children are around, for some reason they find me fascinating)
5. Went to the beer festival at the railway. Had my first beer for three months (with no rash - I think pollen levels are dropping). Met an old friend who didn't recognise me(we think he may have early stage dementia
) and then said "well you've got more wrinkles than last time i saw you" and
and :rotfl: But he proceeded to be equally rude to just about everyone and wonders why no-one wanted to offer him a bed for the night ("You've lost all your hair"; "you've put on weight"; "you left it late to have children, by the time you get grandchildren you'll be past it" (this last to me - I was 32 when i had DD!!)) Poor old s0d - one has to laugh at what he was saying, though it is sad to see him in decline. he is only 64.
Anyhoo - the sun is shining, I've a bike to repair before riding it. And we're back at the beer festival tonight...:TI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
1) Oh YES we have a removals company booked, finally!
2) Blueberry porridge that I've just had for my breakfast with cinnamon sugar and a small knob of butter, neither of us slept last night and I was up at 5 so 10.45 felt like lunchtime!
3) Cooler and breezier here today, still warmer than I like it but definitely easier to cope when there's a breeze stirring the air up.
4) RTC chicken at the Co-Op.
5) All the support and kindness from my OS friends which kept me off the ceiling yesterday and floated me this morning while we waited for the removals firm to ring us back, you lot are THE BEST!!!0 -
Good Morning from The Big Apple!
Been off grid for a week........crossing the Atlantic on QM2.
Too many pleasures everyday, but highlights......
1. The other diners on our table for dinner. They had to throw us out every night coz we lingered too long, chatting
2. Lots of interesting talks, including one from Sir Jackie Stewart.
3. The food.
4. The ship.
5. The sea.
6. The view, arriving into New York.
Intrepid today and Statue of Liberty tomorrow.
Off to catch up...........have a lovely day0
