  • Another gloriously hot day - I do love it and I don’t mind ‘glowing’ As in the old adage ‘Ladies glow, men perspire & horses sweat’ :rotfl:

Visit to the Farmers Market in the park with my DSis - good job it was only a few stalls :rotfl: otherwise I would have had to mortgage the house :rotfl: Taste tested 6 different varieties of honey & bought 3 small jars + bread + proper Italian salami + unpackaged veg. The pleasure was that I could refuse all plastic bags as I had a suitable bag with me but I did gratefully accept the paper bags when offered :rotfl:

Finding the outdoor gym in the park & watching DSis having a go on several bits of equipment :o

An odd pleasure now - walking home I picked up a plastic carrier bag blowing along the pavement & filled it with litter - plastic bottles, tin cans, drinks cartons etc. No skin off my nose & a little bit less litter in the bushes :T

No cooking - made a meal using some of the Farmers Market purchases with lo green beans & lo hm Austrian potato salad

Sitting in the garden drinking red wine with ice as dusk falls - a pleasant breeze but still a decent amount of warmth

Actually did a bit of housework today :rotfl:

Time for bed....there's been a vomiting incident outside my house! Not quite sure what was going on but a couple had parked up outside for about an hour ...no obvious shenanigans ! Then he got out & vomited gallons on the pavement! Dd2 kindly went out with a kettle & asked if he was okay! His mother then arrived ( we've never seen these people) , knocked on door & asked for more water to clear said vomit! Odd.

For today : GN slept all night . I was woken at 4.45am by very noisy cats. Fighting outside. So Haggis assumed it was breakfast time.

Went down to our woods. Found painted stones. Apparently it's a 'thing' , people decorate and leave them, if you find them you move them and hide again. So that was an unexpected thing ...as we had a list of things to look for already .

Made cookies. They turned out fabby.

Repotted all my pumpkins. They all look very sad & traumatised. But the pop up veg patch has to go as builders start on Tuesday. See how they go.

The child went and peace was resumed. She's a chatterer!

Had a bath as was a bit achy joints.

    Called friend back.

Watched Casualty ( whilst these people were out front) holy moly!

1 Back very late from a visit to the in-laws didn’t get to bed until this morning.
2 A little bit late up, grilled bacon and scrambled egg was both brekkie and lunch.
3 Dh got on dismantling some tip run stuff to fit in the car and dug the garden to make a base for the bird fountain, with a lot of animal help, while I unpacked the freezer and defrosted it while also gathering tonight’s fakeaway of pizza and garlic pizza bread with some weird little bits that don’t need to go back in the freezer. It’s now got 3 spare drawers but we still have plenty of food to use in the other 3 drawers.
4 I signed and forwarded on the contract I received today, onto DB to sell DF’s pad.
5 Used the freezer water to water the back-garden flowers.

    Pleasures for today (Saturday).

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Smaller son's 15th birthday! He had his new football and a couple of cards at midnight.

    3) Fed the hens and 4 eggs.

    4) Went to our local farm shop for birthday breakfast with my mum, dad, siblings and niece (and sons!)

    5) Smaller son and I went to watch his team play at Alfreton. Coach journey went smoothly. I had emailed a few weeks ago to ask if they "did" anything for birthdays and they said they would organise a surprise, if I said at the turnstile that smaller son had arrived...

There were a tense 10 minutes or so while I dreaded that the surprise would be 1000 people singing happy birthday or that he would be encouraged on to the pitch! Either of those would have made him walk out. What actually happened was that he had a happy birthday message over the tannoy both before the match and at half time. And before the match the mascot appeared, shook his hand and gave him a card signed by all the team members!

    6) Had tea at KFC.

    7) Realised I had forgotten to take the cake, candles etc to the farm shop this morning (all set out ready) so we had that this evening.

    8) Watched half of Casualty.

    9) Spoke to my school friend on the phone.

    10) Looking forward to going to sleep now. Had an unexpected trip to collect bigger son at 12.30am - he'd been at an 18th birthday party and 4 youths decided to beat him up. They didn't get very far but he's got bruises all round his head and 2 lumps like eggs on his forehead. :-/
  • Aww lovely birthday treat for younger son Frith, but poor older son, horrible experience :(

Lovely day yesterday, lunch with parents and enjoyed looking at their veg garden - and the trees laden with apples and pears! Wonderful :)

Nice drink in the evening with daughter and son and son's (lovely) girlfriend

Listening to the magpie and the starlings having a very noisy showdown again on next door's roof, who needs the TV?! :p

Collected loads of herbs from the garden to put in the freezer for the winter, and the courgettes just keep on coming too! :D

More glorious sunshine, what a summer! :)
