Pleasures for today (Wednesday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Dropped smaller son off at school.
3) Had hair cut and eye brows done.
4) Bigger son helped me feed the hen then take up more footings of the old porch.
5) Lovely, sunny day (but appalling hayfever, even with tablets).
6) Went to watch "Edie" at our small, local cinema.0 -
For past couple of days.
1. DS1 girlfriend has seen the consultant sheba broken vertebrae from an earlier injury. She needs a scan on her knee but good news on the whole I think.
2. A friend is to have heart surgery today. He needed it urgently back in November. He was told on Tuesday evening that surgery was tiday. I think that was good as he has been kept busy rather than becoming too scared about the surgery
We have an unexpected trip away at the weekend now to visit.
3. Found my bean supports so belatedly planted beans out. The flower beds are looking colourful so the weeds aren't as obvious.
4. Arranged to meet friends on Friday evening. We haven't seen them for a while.
5. DS2 cooked a lovely chicken, pesto and tomato fish for dinner. He is recovering from the fly now.
6. Enjoying reading my book in an evening in the garden.0 -
Welcome Fox face.
Wednesday pleasures,
A warm, sunny day.
Made a country grain loaf, house smelt divine and made me determined to get back into baking my own bread.
Over to the yard to see girlie and prepare for arrival of lovely farrier, he worked on her feet whilst she snoozed in the sun. Such a change from the stressed out pony he first saw
Evening meal out with DB, riverside pub was packed with long wait for food but worth it and we talked so much didn’t notice the wait.
Home and a clear night, with a sky full of stairs.0 -
1 successful day at work
2 lovely long dog walk to clear the mind and stretch the legs
3 had a relaxing much needed night
4 didn!!!8217;t chin the girl that is annoying me at work, win
5 got the washing done!0 -
&posting at best infrequent now, with connectivity zero more often than not and nothing working on mob. either. Mse Towers still fail to acknowledge &'s em queries[8th sent yday] as to why & cannot sign in on mob., even as new user. For some months, mob. was &'s working alternative when away from Fens. No longer.
Clearly, & is not at Spits today either - more nearly all-day Fenboys car work and auction doings yesterday and Monday.
Hopefully now set for a little bit of calm.
...except something's chewing holes in the rhubarb leaves. and many others
Special Welcomes to klew and Foxface.

1. Gathered rhubarb v.early this morning. Now in freezer. Need to lift/pot more raspberries which are doing even more coming up everywhere than usual.
2. Looks like lots more walnuts and grapes and currants are cropping this year.
3. Around 5 bells, found self down back, weeding between shrubby hedge and rye field. Good. Lots of early birdsong.
4. A few hours gone, now r4 wimmins' hour, will sit out with long wet hair, h-m lemon curd on last finger of toast]now 6 hrs old] and re-zapped cappuccino. Hoping ahead to Rafa, French Open - just win, please win, esp. as djoko is out. No tears from & to that. Postie brought New Art Quarterly yday,. Will now undo and enjoy.
5.. Compline last night. & always appreciates/attends if in albion. Thanks given for a little chap in utero, unexpected following an equally unexpected late 1st marriage of 2 great peeps last year. Good, good news - 'a bit scary', confided papa:-)

V One of the days at the mill. Had to create work for a lead stoker, one with letters on his shovel as he had continued at skool. I know, don’t start. Had to make a choice yesterday and … 14 days. Forgot the rule, and missed out myself and gaffer about damping fires on other mill. Wrong decision. Never had to do it before, and it is not nice. But he had opportunity with the shovel to enable more cloth.
4 Was in the gym last night trimming the puppy fat. Tour coming this weekend.
3 In the lunch box today we have the usual and a couple of cakes of Jaffa.
2 Nite will be chicken roulette again, and as I tossed off last night with pancakes, we are out of strawberries, two ice creams.
There for BoPiness!0 -
BoP - guided by your wisdom, child has chosen to ingest pork pie amongst packed lunch offerings & claims it is making his exams easier! Another has decided the gym is the smart cookie's preferred relaxation (so my quiet time has taken a left turn.)
mhagster - oh haggis - poor sorepaw! (& owch wallet) Hurrah incoming kitchen & ooh sparkly ring which clearly Found You.
Mrs SD - love a "squirrel taking a cat for a run"! Awed you recognise a grebe nest (I couldn't.) Three different dinners? Such patience! Fresh mown lawn glorious.
Frith - not wholly sure I want to know but what is mash that chickens need to be taught eat Proper Food? Look forward to hearing about new arrivals. Any plans to do or make anything of old porch other than clean tidy civilised you'd never know space?
house elf - much intrigued by wakeboarding (hurrah Wikipedia) & delighted both that DS2 had fun but you also, watching & getting some admin done.
Hopeless Case - a garden is a lovesome thing & source of many OS pleasures as well as a few "Why Was That deemed a good idea, then?" notions.
villagelife - awed at your relationship with DS1's GF & delighted DS1 is recovering. May all go well for heart surgery friend.
klew356 - it is good to chat with mum, isn't it?! A good dog walk is much better than clobbering a colleague.
Mrs LW - welcome home! Singing around Belgium, though - wow! Buyer not wanting bookcases? Still, good home & oooh stem ginger icecream!
purple kitten - ah yes, lists of what needs doing - they work, but can be a bit dispiriting.
LaineyT - which E George book? Love her stuff! Baking your own bread is a special kind of pleasure.
VJsmum - wholehearted sympathies with stats now a couple of clicks instead of at least half an hour patient calculations. Seems daft to ask if you feel better for shedding some weight hearing the walks, the PhD, the busy happy life!
Foxface - welcome & best of luck listing!
Ampersand - bother no Spits but hurrah birdsong & Compline & may papa learn to love the adrenalin of parenthood
OS Pleasures recently
The lovely Mr.Oliver, a Baker of Morrisons, putting Cornish pasties into the oven for me so I don't have to cook & son gets "fresh dinosaur pie"!
Oooh - pleasure in the spectacularly bad timing of a Visa advert....
I've gone back to rereading real paper books. The last chapters have a physical lightness an imperative to keep reading! Hurrah for weekends...
Bees industrious amongst the flowering chives, lovely zzzzz noise.
Who else regards a grey cool breezy morning as a pleasure? Still enough light to see but not to wish for sunglasses.
Met a linen-wearing Jain woman who works in our IT central team. How on earth you combine doing no violence with Brexit technology I am still puzzled by but awed - and to recognise linen in the workplace was a bonus.
Ye gods the resilience of the young! Lad off the building site, still in his hi vis, was balancing in a one handed push-up on a bollard - I goggled impressed & applauded when he managed to vault off! I fear I embarrassed him, when I sincerely applauded the athleticism & the joi de vivre....
I did not check I'd put my trolley safely flat. It & a friend rolled down, scratching itches against my car. I got out, seized them like errant toddlers and tucked them firmly in, on the flat.
Oh gods. Son attired for the gym is still wearing smart shirt with collar. This is still interview grade apparel, not sweat & stretch gear. Will he heed my sartorial opinion?! [He did. Eventually.]
Gardeners joy has been discussing the appendix, vestigial organs & the homunculus. Made giving him a lift home an interesting chat!
Two suits chatting each with briefcase & bag - one a waitrose tote & one a cheerful Aldi slice slice baby!
Endorphins, truly the good stuff.
Watering the fruit bush cuttings. Involves walking across the kitchen table, so slightly complicated. Several appear to have survived the accidental drought.
Once again, blasting yellow stuff - much appreciated Raffles!
Right. Health, strength, love, luck & courage to all as have need of same, stay hydrated & hang onto the good stuff.0 -
Dfv the lists are definitely there to be ignored for days on end.:rotfl:
For yesterday
1 Remembered to hang out van bedding to air given lovely weather.
2 A washing load out to dry
3 2 for 1 voucher for the cinema visit for date night, it was a truly dreadful film and 3 hours you wish you could reclaim! Very disappointing.
4 Big share bag of chocolate buttons:T
5 Lovely call from DB and looking forward to properly catching up with him tomorrow.
So far today
1 Started talked to estate agents and would rather pull my teeth out but they are needed.:o
2 Our ill ferret is eating duck fat which leaves us with duck in plum sauce with wraps and cucumber tonight.:p
3 Its nice to have some space in the freezers, clearing them out 2 fold.
4 I decided to make some cupcakes, I haven’t baked cakes since DF passed but for a mix of reasons including diet, but I am craving a cake with bit of buttercream topping.
5 Sometimes it feels like I should a reward for succeeding in changing all our bedding, that is other than the nice fresh bedding.0 -
1 the sun is shining
2 I gained a sought after accreditation for the company I work for
3 Managing Director gave me a bottle of champagne Moet chandon for point 2
4 I!!!8217;m off tomorrow so today is my Friday
5 I!!!8217;m looking forward to getting out with the dog because of point 10 -
Hello. Thursday evening. Still dry though rain is forecast. Was hot at early o'clock.
Dreadful sleep on sofa but wanted to be near my doggy.
So was glad to get up. I had a nice walk with the ladies. Left a very sad dog boy behind.
Went to T. Went to pharmacy. Came back and mother was here. Sigh. Always negative which is always hard.
Cleaned bathrooms, hoovered stairs and upstairs. Sorted ironing into needs to be ironed piles. We need the bed to put the suitcase on!
Finished my library book. Hoping I get to the library bus in time tomorrow ( he keeps chopping and changing )
Rains just started & will be welcomed by the garden. I love the smell of rain on dry hot ground.0
