Mhags Poor Haggis. Hope the paws heal soon. :(
Frith Welcome to the new hens. Ours soon fluffed up, all except one, who always has bald patches where the others peck her, no matter how much Peck Stop I spray on her. Yours seem To have made themselves at home already !

    Good Morning,

Awake following a disturbed nights sleep listening for DS1 return from IoM and indigestion from Chinese takeaway :rotfl:

    Yesterday

    1. Trip to Silverstone for Fully Charged. Enjoyed looking at the exhibition and sitting in electric cars and people watching........saw Robert Llewelyn and Danny John Joules. There was also motor racing on, and people having racing car experience days, so lots to look at. Wanted to listen to a couple of the talks, but the acoustics in the halls made it difficult to hear, so we will have to catch up on the Internet. :rotfl: Trip in a Tesla.

    2. DS2 birthday. He spent the day sleeping.

    3. Takeaway with friends for DS2 birthday. Friend made a cake. Champagne was drunk.......now I have indigestion. :rotfl:

    4. DS1 home.

    5. Beautiful weather.
  • Morning, another gorgeous day :)

We've got a friend's son's christening today, really looking forward to it :)

I bought a large Papaver orientalis Princess Victoria Louise in the bit of the garden centre I know as the Magic Corner (AKA the reduced to clear section :D) for £2.50, had my eye on one of those for ages so I'm really pleased

Lovely coffee with my mum yesterday and my sister and 2 of my nieces popped in too

Managed a couple of hours gardening yesterday and it looks lovely

Week's menus and shopping list done early

    Enjoyed my day.

    1. Having a coffee in the garden listening to the birds first thing.

    2. Planted some plants that I had ordered and had to weed as I went. The garden is looking better.

    3. The sofa covers which I washed are back on. It was easier than normal too. I now need to do the rest of them.

    4. Fresh flowers from the garden.

    5. Tea was the leftovers from Friday night meal which DH asked for a fight bag for. We had soup to start with to stretch it but I couldn't finish my portion.

    6. Had another bonfire.

Welcome to the new hens, you’ve hit jackpot there with Frith as your new Mum.
    Get better vibes for Haggis.

    Saturday pleasures,

Met eldest hollow legged one for early brunch at farm shop cafe, I had club sandwich which was delicious and came with a big side salad.

DSS then went on to play cricket in village, closely followed by Capt S so house to myself for a while.

Played ball with small dog in garden, she sort of retrieves ie circles around you with ball in mouth and tail wagging furiously.

Time as well with horse girlie, new lunging bridle fitted and tried out.

Watching BlackAdders 30 greatest moments, laugh out loud funny and great memories of watching it at home with my brothers.
  • 1) Reading that Frith has new hens and that Samantha isn't lonely any more, priceless!

    2) He Who Knows actually slept last night, almost right through, the first time in a while so he's feeling human again today, priceless!

    3) The store room is emptying slowly, partly from shedding surplus possessions, partly from using up the pantry stores I keep up there, partly from having done the boot fair a couple of weeks ago. It has some empty shelves which is nice.

    4) Going to take my 'culled' books to the book bank this morning so hopefully they will give someone else pleasure. It's odd looking at such a small collection of cookery books but the ones I've shed have not been used for some time, good to let them go.

    5) Gizmo, my neighbours minute and Oh So Friendly cat who always comes running to see me when I come out of the front door and is such a pet, she stands up on her tiny back legs and holds both paws round my hand and rubs her little face on me purring furiously, she's lovely!

  • Noticed i!!!8217;ve Still got freckles on my nose.

Local air show. Sat in garden I saw various old planes fly past. How glorious. One was so low I saw number. (But don!!!8217;t test me.)

Sister in law rang out of the blue with lots of happy family news.

    Had a fun moment with husband taking photo of me for ID purposes. !!!8216;Your eyes are shut. You are laughing. Your head is cut off at the top.!!!8217;

Hello. Bit cooler at times today in a pleasant way.

Slept till 7am which is late for me.

Walked to church, our early summer services started today which are a bit more fun. Took 45 minutes. I enjoyed walking past some lovely gardens and so much in bloom and flowers that I've not realised I've not seen in 8 years.

Bus home and thankfully one was just ready to go. Our bus station's not somewhere you'd like to wait around too long!

    Much pottering in the garden.

Helped DD2 pack her cases. Need to borrow scales tomorrow to see if we need to unpack!

    Sat in garden for lunch.

Haggis had his 'cone of shame' off for little bursts throughout the day...but back on as soon as he went near his feet!

Attempted conversations with son about what he's going 'to do with his life' without putting too much pressure ...sigh!

Lovely chat with friend and then sister in law.

Started a new library book and it's set in Sydney.

Enjoying the cool breeze coming through the window.

Just done my meter readings...try again that looks to high or too low. Just done some sums and I think it might be the too high one!

Enjoying my big vase full of stocks and roses and chrysanthemums. Pinks and whites.

Growling ( inwardly) at my neighbour who I'm sure has a beautiful clean power washed patio. Half his crud through on my side of the fence now. However let's not sweat the small stuff, we are soon to have 8-10 weeks of building work starting! :) it shall sweep up !
  • Saturday & Sunday pleasures + one I forgot on Friday

Friday evening watched as one helicopter was filming a peculiar looking white helicopter with a very long tail, in the sky above the Isle of Dogs. Lots of manoeuvres & then they headed off to the Thames. Curious to know what it was for but unable to find any info :(

Saturday - hot, hot, hot :D
Finished sorting the last of my kitchen cupboards - at least a little space in all of them :D
Received another dividend cheque - nice surprise :D
Watching the birdies & squirrels feeding & the birdies having a splash :D it was hot :rotfl:
Keeping the kitchen & living room neat & tidy :rotfl:
DH cooking dinner - cheesey pasta. He & DSis must have been hungry, as I only had a small portion, & they managed to finish off the other 425g of pasta  At least my clothes are getting looser :T

Sunday - hot, hot, hot but with a cooling breeze which made my DSis happy.
Sorting the freezer & only having to bin a couple of small pots of unlabelled mystery food :T All contents listed & a nice surprise - venison sausages :D
    Watching the birdies & squirrels.
    Going food shopping - ALONE:rotfl:
DSis’s shelving & storage units delivered - keeping DH & DSis busy :T
A delicious dinner - Cornish new potatoes, chicken fried in butter & green beans drizzled with a bit of olive oil - simple but oh so tasty
    Poldark is back :T:rotfl:
Just feeling generally happy with life :D
Oh, and my cough is finally going :T
Lastly, reading about Frith’s new hens:T:D

    Good night one and all.

Thank you for the hen messages :-)

Quick pleasures for today as I'm quite tired now.

    1) Hens OK this morning. Happy to be let out (I'd barricaded them into the sleeping quarters).

    2) Took bigger son to his new job (he has a waiters job and worked 8-12 today). Apparently it was great and they made him a bacon sandwich! Since then he's been very irritating - not telling me when he wants picking up, from where, which meals he will need. I hung around in carpet town for 2 hours but that was wrong and he is STILL out but has just let me know he'd like some tea. I'm in bed so he can make his own!

    3) Smaller son went to play football with his school friends.

    4) I had lots of cups of tea in Sainsburys caf! while I waited for smaller son (and, I thought, bigger son...)

    5) FOUR eggs from the hens!

    6) My brother came over to watch the UNICEF football match with smaller son.

    7) Went down to put the hens away just now and 3 were asleep in the box I collected them in and one was asleep randomly in a little nest she had made by the fence. They're all in with Samantha now and blocked in again until the morning.
