Water is running again thankfully.
1 Glad I checked the lidl leaflets I love petunias, hoping they will be in stock tomorrow
2 Leftover chicken from camping is now curried up with anything we have and turmeric rice with it.
3 Our bedroom is finally back and furnished, shelving up with various swear words to even get into the Swedish flat packedness, various things cleaned, carpet offcut finally fitted, bed back where it should be, and some inherited draws put in, I am still out on if I want them but will wait and see.
4 I have let some inherited stuff go that just doesn!!!8217;t fit here and doesn!!!8217;t have sentiment.
5 Saw the woodpecker and various birds down in the garden.
6 A job has come up and I have applied I am hopeful to hear something.0 -
Another busy day (anyone would think it is half term!)
1) An early start to go through the paperwork needed for an appointment at the Job Centre. A VERY stroppy letter arrived a couple of weeks back, demanding I go in and take statements, ID, bills, house deeds. I was just getting ready to go when I received a phone call from the Department of Work and Pensions. Another rather stroppy lady making sure I would be there...
...to explain why I have been claiming to be off work whilst still working as a teaching assistant.
I pointed out that I resigned from that job in April 2017 and there was a long, long silence. She was then much less stroppy and took various details over the phone - my earnings for 2017-18 (£42) she felt she could overlook. Appointment cancelled.
2) Hen OK. Took the packaging from the bunk beds to use as weed suppressant.
3) Plenty of jobs done round the house - cleaned the bathroom, dusted my room, loads of washing done including rugs and bunk bedding.
4) Got the new bunk beds up to smaller son standard - curtains up round the bottom bunk (like a 4 poster) and LED colour change lighting reinstalled. All he has to do is fix the luminous stars back on.
5) High drama this evening caused by my brother who can't make arrangements, and mum and dad who don't listen. Dad phoned me to ask what time the train would be in so he could pick them up (they've been in Paris, watching the tennis). I asked which train they were on back to Birmingham - he didn't really know...
We guessed at 8.30pm. I pointed out to Dad that New St is now completely different - pedestrianised and with trams. Dad (Aston Uni graduate) drove off anyway. He doesn't have a mobile phone and doesn't memorise phone numbers...
Cue a LOT of phone calls from my mum and brother asking where he was. A lot of complaints about New St having changed (I know!) This was all great, but I couldn't pass on their whereabouts to Dad. It then got rather silly as mum randomly went for a walk and brother decided to stand on top of a multi storey to see if he could see dad's car.
I haven't heard yet how they actually met up. I did say something pointed like "fancy not telling Dad where to meet you exactly".
6) Smaller son and I did another "midnight" shop.
7) In bed now and might watch 24 Hours in A and E.
Nothing to do tomorrow!0 -
Morning!
Already mopped the kitchen floor. Aiming for a ‘Doing Day’ today....
Yesterday
1. DH went back to work, so I was able to spend a day going around various supermarkets ticking stuff off my list. Only partially successful, but did get 72 tins of dog food and some kibble for £24.00 using my VIP coupons from Pets at Home.
2. Gave DS1 lift to his managers house to set off for the Isle of Man. They got there ok. Had to start work straight away, but added bonus was Scouting for Girls we’re performing in the tent. :j
3. Had a couple of guilt free snoozes during the day.
4. Roast dinner for tea.
5. Han Solo at the Cinema. Various freebies and discounts made it less than £8 for 3 of us. DS2 and I really liked it, but DH felt it wasn’t one of the best Star Wars movies........Me: ’Was it cos you could actually follow the story ?’ :rotfl:......apparently, there wasn’t the usual level of special effects.......There is a spectrum of geekdome in our house.
Have a lovely day0 -
Wednesday pleasures,
Energy levels were up so if it wasn’t nailed down it got cleaned, swept or polished.
The steady stream of “stuff” leaving the house continues, books this time and it’s good to see clear shelves although the temptation to find replacements is extremely strong.....
Horse girlie was good and I had time to stop for a chat with another owner.
Listening to “ Death on the Nile “ on R4extra, love a radio play even if I do know the plot.
Hungry but resisted the urge for late night toast!0 -
I know this isn't the right place for this, but I didn't know where else to put it, but WOOHOO :j:j:j!!
We switched to a water meter a week or so ago, and thanks to the front loading of monthly payments to the water company, we're now £60 in credit, plus we don't have to pay the usual £73 DD this month, so that's £133 to pay off a credit card, which only has about £200 on it (it's in OH's name and he's frustratingly bad at logging on and checking these things, so I've been hanging on waiting for the statement so I know how much it is and can get it paid off and release the £100 a month I've been paying towards another debt :j:j)
I've transferred the water money across so that means we've more or less cleared it without spending a penny extra - there may even be a bit of the usual monthly £100 to pay a bit on another card :j:j
I think this counts as all of my 5 right now:D:D (even though it's more in the MSE honeymoon period/ low hanging fruit category than true OS money saving I guess...

Yes more BoPiness. Now has yous lot read what BoP has bin saying about the rip off energy companies. I know, you wanted to but !!!8230;
Watch when BoP fixes, check deals once a month on that Your Stitched site! Don!!!8217;t pay SVR! Use rule of BoP, my pocket not theirs! Stay with those that do the WHD! Cheap is not cheap. On that Your Stitched site, my SP April Super Saver 19 is still the best deal available. Not moved this month.
GOT IT!
XL BoP is still celebrating that he left education 40 years ago. The school tie was burned! The gate was jumped.
4 Raffles is having Rule of BoP Nan code adopted. He is well in a monk. Nan rule, if he leaves it on his plate, out it comes again! No waste. BoPsie will obviously fall for his rubbing and charm later.
3 had the strawberries and ice cream last nite after the chicken roulette. It was that nice one that is on offer, the chocolate indulgence one. Very nice! Proper food and good for you.
2 The box of lunch delights has again the usual items with today, packed by BoPsie. Her eyesight is failing these days and she has forgotten to pack it with cakes of Jaffa. I think it could get worse!
Don!!!8217;t have one today. Violent electrical storms are on their way! They used to be called Thunder and Lightning!
BoPiness returns tomorrow
Run along now and eat up your greens!0 -
1. Left walk 35 minutes early to catch the bus home.
2. Survived day at work.
3. Painkillers helping to ease back pain.
4. Flowers still looking good.
5. Spaghetti Bolognese for tea.0 -
1 I let more inherited bits go, I bagged up on the kitchen side and DH has found a use for some them, which I am glad of.
2 I cleared / tidied a shelf off, I am in a lot of pain from yesterdays diy and shifting so today was tidying, but then I ended up hoovering as the place is in a bad way, numerous animals weird weather and a lot of general dirt.
3 Popped to L1dl, I was a bit surprised I kept to basics, milk, various veg although a fair bit needed and sarnie bags, but it came to £20, I also purchased £12 worth of plants.
4 I have finished a disappointing kindle book but now have 2 paper books I want to read either Forever odd, or eleanor oliphant is completely fine, I think it may be DK.
5 Meal planned for a couple of days.
6 Arranged a date night for next week.
7 Mint pork chop with cheesy pasta and grated courgette is tea.
8 DH did a bit of garden work nice to see him enjoy.
9 Can not help but bird watch in the garden so many critters and the woodpecker gathering food up and watching so many bumbles around gathering.
10 Our ill little ferret is wombling around he’s very slow but seems very happy today.
11 A couple of jobs applied for.0 -
29th to 31st May
Tuesday was a complete washout but at least I had the sense not to go out:D
Although the summer bedding was on I hadn’t packed the duvet away so a warm night’s sleep
Wednesday went into town - banked Ernie’s cheques, got some nice Snorkers from the butchers (who had missed me
as I usually visit once a month:)) + a visit to B**ts - not a cotton wool ball in sight
The rain stayed away so the raincoat was a bit superfluous :rotfl:
Snorkers, mash & baked beans for dinner - yummy (although DSis only likes Wa*ls she did at least try the three varieties I had bought)
Watching DH gardening & the joy on his face when he got to use his shredder
Took DSis to meet the cs lady (4 big bags of donations) - had a nice chat.
Warm day today even though overcast
Sitting out in the garden watching the birdies
Bacon & eggs for tonight’s dinner
Will try & get back into the habit of posting daily

Pleasures for today (Thursday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Now 12 stones! Wanted to weight myself at the end of the month and have lost 16lbs in May.
3) Hen OK.
4) Went to parents' to do some photocopying and hear about the French adventures.
5) Went to nearest town for the bank and a swift look in the charity shop found me a White Stuff top. Got to the till and it came up as £68, 620, 000, 000!
6) Cooked burrito filling for tea and chicken curry for the freezer.
7) Took smaller son to football (they hire a pitch).
8) Popped into Sainsbury's to kill time and bumped into his year 1 teacher from primary school! She was the only member of staff to discuss properly with me that he probably had autism. The new management teachers pretty much saw off smaller son (and indeed the other 2 children with SEN also left, the parents of one going to the papers). She asked all about smaller son and I recalled his "abrupt departure" and she said she had also departed abruptly soon afterwards, it is not the same school and she and all the other teachers that have walked out are meeting tomorrow! In its recent Ofsted report it has gone downhill from 1s and 2s to 3s - cause for concern.
9) Watched Ambulance.
10) In bed now listening to the rain and thunder.0
