5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Good morning. New kindle so had to log in to MSE. What a to-do! Anyway, here now.

Still lovely weather here - for me! Not so much for the garden, and farmers must be in despair. We've had one lot of rain in about a month.

DfV - our friend, ex-professional trombone player, took his mouthpiece everywhere, nights out, holidays, in the hope he could borrow a spare instrument and join in with a band. It often worked!

Recently.

New car at last. Felt buried in admin. Man coming next week to install a charger ( hybrid). As we rarely go very far, it should be MSE eventually, fingers crossed.

Garden blooming beautifully. Dead heading is almost a full time job, but a job I really enjoy. Except for petunias. So sticky.

Everything not nailed down is washed. Winter coats, throws - you name it, it's been washed and dried (almost baked) in the sun.

Right. It's Sunday so off to put the croissants in the air fryer.

Oh good, Happycas, I felt a big odd with a mouthpiece in one pocket but since You Never Know (& I’ve seen a bedstead played!) it made sense. Glad to know it’s not just a bizarre personal quirk but known amongst brass!

Loving the (relatively) early morning coolth.

Mum & Good Housekeeping & the “bao bun” (hallelujah Google) although she’s very clear she thinks ‘sticky pork belly’ sounds unspeakable! (Those years as a GP still firmly integrated as part of whom she is.)

I went to the ruby wedding party of uni friends who’ve moved almost local to mum! Much delight at catching up, & understanding of house move emotions! 

Gossip has a Uni pal as headmaster - and ye gods the young man has solidified into corporate respectability from the web photos.

health strength love & courage to all as have need, patience & some kind of fan & a handy extra layer likewise.

I too, just like DigForVictory, have a comment to make on milk in Home Bargains. Last week, 2nd July, I went to HB's for the 2L milk@£1.45.

The very top shelf was FULL of semi-skimmed dated 3rd July. The 2 lower Eye Level shelves dated 12th July selling well. No staff in the vicinity but I did mention it to the lady on the till.

Pleasures for yesterday (Saturday)

1)Very early on - really enjoyed the Cabo Verde v Argentina match.

2) Had a lie in.

3) Watched You Tube videos.

4) Went to the pub to see my school friend.

5) Came home and made pizzas.

For yesterday,

The never underestimated pleasure of sleeping in my own bed, especially in clean sheets.

C dog clearly felt the same way as she was still zonked out when I came down at just gone 7.

Quick food shop then over to see my big girlie, have to say that the neigh of welcome as she saw me walking towards her field made my eyes leak a tad, do we ever deserve the love given by our animal companions.

Catch up chat with bf.

Easy tea of build your own burgers then finished my book, The Last Tudor by P Gregory, certainly paints QE1 in a different light.

another m'eh week at work but a great week of football. won't be staying up tonight (least that's what I've told myself!) joys for the last week

1. adding some more to my 26 for 2026 including getting back to my workouts
2. Beethoven movement of 2 of the pathetique coming on well - still a couple of sticky bars but very much enjoying working on it
3. fab ceilidh for a lovely american lad's graduation over in St Andrews - we set up, went off for a quiet supper (ok silly during graduation week but did manage to find a table!) then came back to play 2 sets with a short break in between - for the 2nd night running i was in bed before 11pm
4. friend's annual bbq - sadly DrM couldn't make it this year but all the rest of the usual suspects present and correct - the weather was glorious
5. MrG and I met up with DrM for the France game - i was not in bed before 11pm but no choir this morning so good lie-in

Pleasures for today (Sunday)

1)Not a bad sleep.

2) Did washing etc.

3) Cleaned all the floors downstairs.

4) Made a curry, rice and HM chips.

5) Waiting for the England match!

6) Banana cake in the oven.

Good morning, from my caravan! First overnight stay in many weeks ( since before dog injured himself)

For Sunday, up early and down we came. He managed a 20 minute walk. This was amazing and walk back took time and a half of what walk there had been and he was flagging by the time we got back to the car but he enjoyed all the sniffs!

Then it was a day in the caravan for us…I luckily got a swim when the pool was open at 9am though it did start to rain when I was in. I did my minimum requirement ( set by myself) lengths and then got out. And when I got back to van it started to absolutely lash with rain!

DD2 and The Baby came for a visit for a couple of hours. DD2 went to lie down in the very comfy bed and the baby had Grandmama for company!

They left and I said ooooh could you stop at mine and close the blinds I think I’ll stay! And I did! A very spur of the moment decision but I’m so glad I did!

Had no wifi all evening until randomly at 1am when everything started going ping on my phone and all the texts and messages and emails all came through at the one time! So that woke me up and I lay for a while listening to the rain on the roof.

So the plan for this morning is be all packed and ready to go, quick swim, manhandle dog into brace, quick walk before we leave and then head home for a shower and get ready for work…first service in almost 7 weeks!

It is currently not raining but forecast for mid morning so I’m hoping the pool gets open at 9am as I can’t wait any later than that.

For yesterday,

An end of holiday treat of breakfast out at the farm shop, I had poached eggs on toast with an added sausage that C dog and I shared.

Quick change and over to see my other girlie. Bit of fence maintenance in field plus a ragwort check as the blooming stuff pops up overnight and is toxic to horses. Then took her into the arena to do some stretch work over poles.

Hot by the time I got home so good to change back into shorts and read in the garden.

Set an alarm for 12.45 for footie but got up only to learn that it had been put back by an hour 🤨 bit worth it in the end as cracking game!

Technically it was today but despite it being 4.30 and already light I did go back to bed for a couple of hours, Wonderwall playing on a loop in my head!

Popped to DD2 to drop something off and ended up with a wee cuddle 🤗

Work this afternoon. A lovely service for a lovely person.

Went to get chips for tea and the chap put curry sauce on them and ended up giving me them anyway as well as other portion…it’s just me!

Dog cuddles.
