For yesterday
- Back survived a day at work which was good. A few patients didn’t turn up which suited me fine yesterday so could take it bit easier
- Walked to bus and home across the fields as wasn’t too muddy and light enough. Much nicer walk than along the road.
- Thankfully I still had back door key in my work bag as forgot front door key.
- Managed to fix a problem with my knitting. I can knit but not great at sorting it out if I go wrong.
- Watched some tv and stayed awake

Lovely bright warm sunny weather today. I'm reporting it quickly before it goes away again😂
Happy 🌞 day everyone

- 1. Catch-up osps read up on The Gallops, always good, with the sun now out and all this morning's spitty low grey cloud ceiling disappeared. 😃
- 2. More familiar greetings from late riders. Definitely one of &'s happy places, with big walks, doggy meetings, birdy observation all sorts, sunsets and seasons - no kites up yet, all from Doblo with reading, listening, thermos+munch, crochet or similar, safe. Simple contentment.
- 3. Still loving last Saturday in The Alma and mes bleus, si SI bien aimés.....'on a gagné, on a gagné', if any other ospers remember this happy chant from childhood and joined in.💓🇨🇵🏉🌟. Twas glorious and always happy hugs and meet-ups with many.
- 4. Holding fast to Lent 'give-up's, with ''No more books', definitely le crunch.
- 5. Oh wow! Crow has just dive bombed harrier, almost touching Doblo bonnet! Trying to film them. Now hunting as a pair. Looks to me as if one has something small, hatched fleshy, in a clenched left talon. They are majestic.

- Can't download pics with new set-up. How does it work now? Help, please. Just have a blue line square with a circle line spinning endlessly within.
A necessary p.s. - Frith's art is wonderful.🎭🖌️👩🎨🎨

Up early.
Industrious first hour…hoovered, cleaned fire, washing hung outside, bins emptied, sorted my flowers, moved chairs back to garage ( only been squeezing past them past 4 days)
Went out with DD2. Had a few things to run around and pick up.
Home and quick lunch then to the vets…for as she described it ‘are you here for your mani-pedi?’ Yes he was…nails snipped and a wee lump on his eye checked out.
Chat to sister.
Then friend called.
Then a wee snoozette on the sofa.Brought in the washing which was almost dry. It’s been a grey but blustery kind of day though not as cold as yesterday.

All out of time, other than to read & enjoy
You know you’re getting a little obsessed with Small Prophets when you can remember most of the “seeds” but are struggling to put which with which. Google wasn’t much help, the subtitle sites are Brilliant…. Then pondering ‘where did he get the wedding ring from?’ And looking up the chanting, geek geek geek…
Youngest fascinated by the scaffolding by the office too, so now taking phone snaps each day I’m in the office for his visual reference library!
Marketing email “your life just got cheaper” met with a resounding “Hah!” and binned with a robust click of the mouse.
Triumph! I can sort of manage ‘Mary had a little lamb’ & ‘Frère Jacques’, today. Disaster - will I be able to tomorrow?! Also, my ecclesiastical upbringing having been lacking, I need to YouTube “ode to joy” as I haven’t a clue (Beethoven’s ninth symphony? YouTube - oh, That tune!)
Hugely amused to see Mars confectionery sponsored research into multivitamins & how they slow biological ageing. Sorta kinda. My view is that when civilisation has swerved, I want a bucket of multivite as trade goods to barter for real fruit & veg as the placebo effect has ooomph.
Amused by weather app fuss - the generation that went in its week to Scarborough as a family regardless of what the weather was is still breathing. I have sympathy for a business model this vulnerable but think they need to advertise to the older folk who know what an umbrella is for. Or flex their prices?
Gosh, music practice at a tender age no longer feels like child abuse. I’m learning alongside a cornet who makes a beautiful noise but can’t read music yet, 14 months in. Fair play I can’t read & play at the same time but I speak the Italian, recognise rests & rallentandos (& make a havers of both) but solo practice is as different to band practice as ballet drill is to celidh dancing - with the crowd around you, you don’t go as wrong!
Then grab shirt & necker for a scout night by the fire pits, getting sticky & smoky & scouting with marshmallows and flint & steel. Gosh rewards aid learning when coaching hungry scouts!
Youngest declining to share his email before his birthday. “I’m monastic” he says, “tell them I’ve withdrawn to a treetop monastery”. I just want to celebrate & they just want to send good wishes, but abiding by his wishes is ticklish.
There’s a Lego model of Tintin & his space rocket due out. I’ve sent a link to a Lego enthusiast colleague. Only right to share the fun!
Youngest is lamentable hard to surprise for his birthday. “Carry on reading & get off Amazon” - gosh the apple has not fallen far from the tree!
I adore the boy. “I’m cooking chicken cacciatore tonight. We need ingredients and a birthday cake.” His chicken cacciatore is delicious!
Oh my. I am sort of justabout enough in control of the cornet to attempt a freestyle happy birthday but it was only an attempt. And now my lip is barely able to shape the p in happy but I’ve tried!
As a birthday bonding thing we’re watching Blade - the 98 vampire movie with a lot of violence based on a niche comic. I applaud some of the visuals - you can almost see the graphic page, but after we’ve had cake I think I’ll turn in early. [Stuck it out. Not enough humour for my taste.]
Band practice & whaddaya know? We’re playing happy birthday! (And the very young cornet can play every note & I can’t yet.) Seems you can practice with just a mouthpiece (!) and get a full octave range (!!) I have much, much to learn. Whilst it’s this fun? Hurrah! (I remain firmly of the belief reading music should be taught before 20 as you are used to having information beaten into you.)
Home & did a bit more weeding. May get the oomph to take cuttings….
Family tree climbing and pondering “cherished granddaughter” - the lass lived 7 days, there is space for more relatives but how would you word them? Beloved, tolerated, gathered-at-last?!
Aw, Playmobil re-releasing 3 classics, my take-along farm, a glass recycling truck & a prison break… (Not kidding, crime & punishment is a popular childs game sector. I still boggle at the safe breakers set.)
Dear heavens, what a game! Rugby, o my.
Slightly frustrated with a real book - a character is mentioned towards the end, I can’t recall the detail from the early pages (not that major a character) but I can’t do a ‘search within’ to find the references as it’s paper not electrons! (That I use this sort of trick to prop my brain up, I regard as normal, but am leery of AI!)
If “could I have a word?” is one of the most ominous openings, at work “can I borrow you for a moment” is slang for help, remind me, join us in this teams call, why is this blighted thing not working etc. It does make accounting for time more ticklish but you get a brief peek into all sorts of new & intriguing ideas.
And this morning I realise “ode to joy” is also part of the Ludwig music, of course… Oh the script... “Don’t you have a detective to impersonate?”
Youngest has mother wrangling as a casual art. I am bribed with bacon sandwiches & tea into a place where he can get his own breakfast & double check the shopping list then hand me the car keys. Love him to bits..
Mother’s Day & nearly every trolley has a bunch of flowers but what made me grin hugely was a senior citizen with a bunch of daffodils emerging from her handbag, a riot of yellow against the smart navy. She grinned right back!
Family tree climbing & it’s ticklish when you can see one man, three lots of children, & two wives. I rather feel Christmas must have been a challenging season.
Chirruped a 'good morning!' to our sister building security - always good to try a smile & wave, & they seem amused by it.
Whole heap of technology now moved to a locked drawer & the responsible person changed from me to a team manager. Should stop the bickering about access & remove the responsibility from me. Hurrah!
Excitement at a crowd with camera lenses. Building security (heroes) & a gossipy paparazzo agree Real Madrid due.
The scaffolding for the change of cladding on the block of flats near work is growing. Frankly, it’s beautiful. Also a bit scary should anything go wrong with, but first, strangely beautiful.
Family zoom & one sis has to get her dogs to their annual check up (over 50 kilos of fix red Labrador), another has tae kwon do class & mum is still tired after all yesterday’s festivities so as sisters scattered, I crooned for a couple of minutes, suggested hauling some of grandson’s home cooking from the freezer & letting it defrost, while she has another nap. Call ended moments after that idea sunk in!
Shocked but touched by the queues for antibiotics in the meningitis outbreak in Kent. And of course the symptoms look like a cold or a hangover, ahem, so the young have no quick & easy steer. Touched they’ve been told to watch out for each other, check up on anyone gone quiet.
More practice, still didn’t repeat yesterday’s scale but three tones closer. Now slumped in bed with lips buzzing & brain trying to figure where things were different…
Mentioned equinox and triggered a trainer recalling wedding anniversary. Collective googling led to nickel orchids & amethysts & advice on where to find the local jewellery quarter. (Then stuffed in traffic - will plead scouts to get out tomorrow in time for cornet lesson - some nights I have a social life !)
Health Strength Love & Courage to all as have need, along with layers as the temperature spikes!8 -
I did a teeny tiny start to the gardening turning a small patch over and stopping the bluebells growing through the hydrangeas. I popped in the greenhouse and found a plant that has somehow survived purchased half price last year ops. Quickly took it out to water and acclimatize.
Food today is roast leftovers, a pork and pickle sandwich was lunch, and dinner is me cooking a curry and rice up.
We had to pop out to the doctors, so while out decided to look up “strulch” and found a good price at one of the garden centres, while there we also found some simple solution (pet clean up) half price so snaffled that.
On the way back we detoured to a couple of CS’s, of which one was perfect with a few things acquired and it was just how a charity shop should be.

Evening all 😊
Five more pleasures:
- Fresh sheets on the bed.
- Was able to meet a last-minute request for babysitting yesterday evening. A sleeping DGD was handed to me then, the moment her parents left the house, she opened her eyes and I expected the worst but she beamed and seemed absolutely delighted to see me which was just lovely (it was probably something else but I'm going to view it as a huge affirmation!)
- Made a very good vegan Buddha bowl for supper.
- Started one of the jigsaws that got put by for a puzzle binge in December but they didn't get done then because DGD's arrival was a bit of a distraction.
- Phone calls with DS1 and best friend, oh, and a NSD as well.
Sweet dreams

- Sun is out and feeling warmer.
- Saying hello to someone I hadn’t seen in a while.
- Lunch time at work was enjoyable. Only 4 of us and we had proper conversation rather than one or two people dominating and talking over others.
- Meeting in afternoon was fairly pointless but at least others thought so too. It was interesting that doctors are as disillusioned as we are.
- Had a roast for tea which was good

Up early and the earlier light fills me with joy.
Bedding stripped and dried out on the line but I still have to make it!Out to work early this morning. Had a service for a lovely family. Dropped off some Easter eggs for a charity collection.
Supermarket on way home. I bought some lavender plants with the remains of a gift card. And Had various Fairy vouchers and with an amalgamation of Clubcard discounts and 20% off 5 laundry items I managed to get some good deals.
Home and hello doggy.
It was a beautiful day. Not warm but dry and bright. Birds singing.
Hoovered car. Badly needing doing! Because my old hoover hose was broken I couldn’t use it.
DD2 popped in and dropped off her dog boy for a while then was just back and her friend popped in with some lovely flowers for each of us which was so nice ( the kind I only get if they are RTC 😆)
Had got a RTC gammon joint this morning so had put that in the slow cooker all afternoon and we had it with broccoli, peas and carrots and a couple of yorkies…and I had some cranberry sauce on mine. She took the remaining joint home.Tidied up, sorted my new flowers. Have a visitor this evening though not sure when they are popping in but at least I’m tidy!

Evening all 😊
Five pleasures –
- The sunshine and going out without a coat.
- More jigsaw. It’s a design with teapots and teacups all over it and was used at the UK national speed jigsaw puzzling championships last year I believe. I am not a speed puzzler much as I’d love to be one, and given my current rate of progress will never be a speed puzzler but I am enjoying it very much, slowly.
- Late afternoon cuppa and cake at the local garden centre with DS1. A happy conversation.
- A short video sent by DS2 of DGD burbling. Another happy conversation.
- Med veg and tofu risotto for supper with another portion saved for tomorrow and one for the freezer.
Sweet dreams
