Good afternoon.. Sunshine and showers today. The washing is staying inside.
A lovely weekend. DS came yesterday with an orchid and chocolates. DD today with tulips and a ticket to an outdoor big screening of Andrea Bocelli at Castle Howard in July. (DD and I saw him live in Leeds in 2018(?) DD decided that in her 40 th year we would go and see him wherever he was. New York? Italy? We were going. Her 40th year was 2020! That was the end of that. Not quite sure where the money was coming from anyway!) So lovely to see them both and see that they're both well and happy. I am truly blessed.
I made egg free choc chip cookie bars earlier in the week. They were delicious. All gone now but will definitely feature again. Out of interest, US recipe, how would you measure 12 tablespoons of melted butter? I weighed 2 tbsps of softened butter and it was about an ounce so I worked on that.
Have bought an almanac for my Kindle. Bit late in the year, I know, but it was only 99p and has lovely stories and recipes among the tide tables and moon phases.
A sort of chicken dinner for tea followed by ( shop bought) banoffee pie. Proper Sunday dinner.
Happy Sunday everyone

Read this month’s bit of an almanac.
Nice food today, started with a grilled bacon sarnie, with dinner as one of the Mr T half price joints roasted, we’ve enough leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch and dinner will be leftover curry.
I managed to get a wash load line dried before rapidly heading out before it got an “ after wash”.
Homemade dessert is cooking through it’s one of the foraged fruits working my way through the various freezer things.

Evening all 😊
First night at new bungalow went well The beds are comfortable, I managed the oven to “cook” pizza, the shower was great and the view from bedroom window is lovely.
Back at the rental bungalow now, to sort out, catch up on some tv and relax on the sofas (no tv or sofas at new place yet). Also needed to water all the indoor and outdoor pots as they were all very dry.
We’ll be back at new home tomorrow for the night as dining room furniture is due to arrive from 7.30 a.m. on Tuesday. I’ve got some daffodils and a plum tree to pot up amongst other jobs.
Sausage and mash, veg and onion gravy for dinner 😋
Night all 💤

Good morning.
Saturday was a busy day and Sunday was a much needed quieter day!
Up early on Saturday to get the day started. Had to de-ice the car to get to supermarket early.
Nice doggy walk at caravan with DD2 and both dogs. The sun was shining.
Then home and operation host an event was on…had a huge list and worked my way down it. Made sandwiches and all the fillings. Made sausage rolls. Made lemonade scones. Stacked all the cakes I’d made on cake stands. Welcomed everybody…having asked my friend if she could be in charge of drinks. And we all had a very lovely afternoon with so much chatter and laughter!
My sister in laws stayed on after everyone else was gone so we had a nice couple of hours feet up on sofas chatting.Lovely messages of thanks received in the evening which was nice.
Yesterday.
Was a pouring with rain kind of day. DD2 and The Chap dropped off the Pup …but came with lovely flowers and a nice card.
Had a nice chat with DD1 for absolutely ages!
A bit of sorting for the next big thing and a bit of watching as I went along.
Had a snoozette on the sofa last afternoon.
Chat to friend on phone later.
And now I’m hoping to squeeze in a caravan day ( not a night) if I can get myself all organised! Have a bit of work stuff to do first.8 -
Not too much done since last Tuesday as been off work with painful back.
Here are some though
- Able to catch up on some sleep during the day as not sleeping much at night.
- More daffodils picked so admiring them.
- Managing to cook easy dishes even if it took a while.
- My mum’s flowers arrived in time for Mother’s Day
- Saw both sons - one on Saturday so more baby cuddles and one on Sunday.
- Went to Leeds castle to look round. My yearly ticket expires next weekend. DH had his reprinted when we last went and is valid till November now!
- Parsnip seeds sowed.

Looks lovely PaulieH
Hope your back improves soon Villagelife
For the weekend,
Up and at’em on Saturday morning because we had guests coming for lunch, quick whizz through with hoover and a general fluffing up of everything.
DB and DSIL arrived, lots of chatter and catching up.
The baked risotto and salad went down well, cheese and dates for afters.
They left mid afternoon and I went over to see pony, she was already in and had obviously had a fine old time if the mud on her belly was anything to go by! Some groundwork lessons completed and then she munched on hay while I kept an eye on the footie scores. Got into the car just as United’s fifth goal went in ☺️
No need for tea as we’d had a large lunch so quick dog walk then watched a film.
Bacon butties and catching up on all things Ambridge.
Loaded C dog into the car along with a few gardening bits and headed over to home village to visit the graves.
Mum & Dad got a planter of spring flowers and eldest DB got a Polyanthus, the weather was fine and it was peaceful in the graveyard with just the birdsong. Did pop into the church but no candles available to light, guess it’s because it was unattended.
Home and by this time the wind & rain had come over so decided to stay home, steak pie and veg for a late lunch.
Watched and enjoyed the last episode of Seven Dials, Capt S might need to read the book as he dropped off halfway through!

Morning all 😊
Five more pleasures:
- DiL sent me a load of photos that I hadn’t seen before of her, DS2 and baby.
- I’ve worked out that I can make humous and bean pate using my potato masher rather than the blender. It was really quick and much easier to wash up. It's probably obvious to most people. Why did I not realise this before?
- Also, about five years too late since he started this in lockdown, I’m probably the last on the planet to discover the sports reporter, Andrew Cotter’s, playlist about his labradors, Olive and Mabel. Fabulous for quick cheering up moments. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPhpJuraz14&list=PLdca3BMTMUqzJ21JyvfoTsoDkJFmrB7Ku&index=1
- Made a very tasty vegan shepherd’s pie using a couple of out-of-date tins of toms and lentils, various rather sad veg and a massively reduced little bag of kale from the whole food shop. It was really tasty and there’s spare for tonight and the freezer.
- Long phone call with best friend.
Happy Mondays

Is a good job I has not bin around for a while as they seam to have downgraded the website. Butt I need mes eyes testing, for some reason I red that as Neanderthal!
I nose not posting as I is about to tell the Dockside that they can be done with their ways and I can retire, a few things to clear up thirst.
Stills has mes snorkers on Saturdays and loads of Spotted Richard puddings!
Buzby sends a <3 to the needy!
I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!10 -
Hello. I’m done with Monday and having a very early night.
Up early.Caught up with a work thing after a lengthy ‘your call is important to us’ kind of wait which meant I could grab a doggy and head to CP. Nice walk and plugged in new heater but it was still so cold! Stayed till lunchtime then headed back.
Popped in to work place for a quick catch up.And home and it was so cold. Chat to sister.
Then I put the log burner on which I’ve not done in weeks.Did a bit of watching rather than the stuff I should have been.
And decided I was having an early night.

For yesterday
- Back survived a day at work which was good. A few patients didn’t turn up which suited me fine yesterday so could take it bit easier
- Walked to bus and home across the fields as wasn’t too muddy and light enough. Much nicer walk than along the road.
- Thankfully I still had back door key in my work bag as forgot front door key.
- Managed to fix a problem with my knitting. I can knit but not great at sorting it out if I go wrong.
- Watched some tv and stayed awake
