Home and did work stuff. Then more work stuff.Trying to pull at least one weed every time I’m in the garden.
doggy still enjoying at least one raspberry a day in the garden.6 -
Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to M and S for a cup of tea.
3) Home for a cup of tea and a new card game with bigger son and his fiancee. He is 25 today!!
4) Fourth day at work but now some time off! It was awful today, with a sad handover note left by my colleague. My old manager asked how it was going and I felt like having a little cry.
5) Made a roast dinner pie for tea.
6) Doing nothing now!7 -
Good morning. Had a bad night, even by my very low sleeping standards, so glad it's now morning.
Paulie - you really do take the most beautiful pictures!
DfV - not sure what the next stage after epic is, but your last post was at that level
Purple Kitten - your meals sound so much like ours. 'Right, we've got this and this left from yesterday. What shall we make of it for today? 😂
Lainey - no spoilers But you'll love the first question on Only Connect this week.
But recently
Had a squirrel peering through the patio door one morning. A wonderful start to our day.
Set out my pumpkins ( knitted/sewn by me) Decided not to make any more this year or it might start to look silly!
Instead, I've decided to do some embroidery. I've ordered some transfers and linen. I've still got some silks somewhere from when I did cross stitch. Hopefully will be a nice calming winter activity.
Met DD and DSiL for breakfast back from their sunny holiday. Was good to see DD relaxed. She has endometriosis, and it seems to flare up when she's tired, so a week in the sun doing nothing much has really helped.
Michaelmas day yesterday. Put all the garden furniture into the shed, leaving only the big bench for occasional coffee outside ( it's too heavy to move anyway)
Happy Tuesday everyone

Ooh intriguing HappyCas!
For yesterday,
Very foggy first thing, it deadens the traffic noise from the by-pass.
Food shopping, no coffee today but did see someone who I used to work with so mini catch-up.
Stripped the chicken carcass, enough for at least two more meals plus sandwiches, C dog was introduced to the delights of the chicken plate which of course made me think of small dog ❤️My big girl had the farrier and for some reason she was very mardy & naughty so bribed with a hay net, can’t have her being dangerous to work on.
Cold meat and spicy potato wedges for tea, tested little grey cells with UC then read our books.5 -
I did not get the answer to the first question LaineyT . But now to my yesterday, 1st day off and 1st day just me and doggy - did get the 2nd wall quicker than them
1) bus down with reluctant dog and not reluctant mum to train station - splashed out £2.15 for 'return to broughty ferry' @mhagster cos cheapest way to get a 'platform ticket' waved her off then
2) we walked backed along the river (doggy very happy)
3) much needed piano practice as week has been very busy - loved every minute - then piano lesson - next one I'm not so busy and it's a fortnight rather than a week
4) food inventory of freezer and fridge then off to local shop to buy a couple of items
5) watched 1st episode of All Creatures Great and Small then an early night
A very good day oneMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Good evening! We were up early this morning but another semi decent night by my rubbish standards! And we set off to the caravan bright and early and had a lovely walk. It was a wee bit milder than yesterday had been at same time. And my last swim! Outdoor pool closed after today until first May. ( think I need to work out how many weeks that actually is) but I’ve spent the last five months discovering I love swimming which I never knew before. Though I think it may be I love swimming outdoors. Chat with chap that was in. We both agreed we would miss it .And back and best bit was the hot shower. And slight change of plans meant we had to leave early. But we had a quick walk before we left.I have tried to meet with someone for work purposes several times in the last week…I’ve been there and they haven’t. Time was a ticking! Anyway a request when I got out of pool to see them today so I headed back home earlier than intended and then headed out into town. Met them. Then home to write their service. And then additional stuff to be written on another service and my eyes were starting to cross but hopefully it’s all okay and done. And before I knew it was dark o’clock and I hadn’t had any dinner but it’s too late for my tummy to eat…I shan’t fade away!7

My simple pleasure today, other one being alive with no stress, was my 16 month old granddaughter running into my arms and burying her head in my shoulder. Absolutely priceless.Mortgage free

Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) No work today.
3) Met my friend for a cup of tea.
4) Went to the Colombian cafe afterwards for lunch.
5) Went to Waitrose and did the prize crossword.
6) Went to Lidl on the way home.
7) Spoke to my sister on the phone.
8) Watching The Detectorists again.7 -
Levels of stress have been through the roof leading up to a phone assessment today, not knowing what to expect, and not expecting what it turned out to be. What will be, will be but also – well I don’t know really. Here’s hoping for the best……..
Dinner was fish, jacket and beans.
Fresh bedding for both us and the ferrets, and the relevant wash loads.
Had a soak in the bath for aches.

Hello again.
Off to bed shortly but just musing on quiz show teams who don't add a 'please' onto the end of 'next', always sounds so rude and shouty somehow. Hmmm...
Anyway, some (sort of) pleasures:
1) Deciding you need to borrow a larger suitcase than yours ten minutes after you should have left for the airport puts stress on the person (me) who has to emply her newly packed away summer clothes out of hers in order to lend it to said disorganised son. Also scrabbling around for aftersun, adaptors, dodgy tummy meds and bite spray could surely have been done a tad earlier perhaps. The pleasure was in waving them off for a week ... and breathe.
2) Little grandson remembered to bring everything home from school on the third trip back in to retrieve left behind items. Is the school run always so fraught? We will see over the rest of the week. The pleasure is we eventually came home with everything that he went with, albeit he apparently dropped his water bottle at break which is now broken and he doesn't have a spare. Sending him with a plastic bottle tomorrow- which will be frowned upon - and will hit the shops for a replacement as he remembered to tell us too late tonight.
3) Shame middle grandson forgot to tell us he had a two hour workshop after college today which is why we couldn't reach him on his mobile and he didn't turn up til I was convinced the worst had happened. The pleasure is he is safe and sound.
4) Little grandson presented us with a 'broken off' tooth halfway through his tea, not a baby tooth but a grown up one he said. Aaaagh!!! Close examination revealed it actually is a baby tooth and it's not broken, he can feel the top of the new tooth not the bottom of the old one. All his 'new' teeth are intact. Phew! And phew again that the tooth fairy has a spare fiver in cash, though it used to be sixpence in her day, she is showing her age.
5) Son and DIL have finally arrived safely in their hotel, little fella is fast asleep dreaming of tooth fairies. middle grandson is safely in his room and no longer requires tooth brushing supervision or a bedtime story at 17. So everyone is where they need to be and we will be heading to bed very soon.
Here endeth day 1 of 9 days of childcare...and breathe.
