5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

For yesterday,
Awful night sleep wise so it was a pleasure to finally give in and get up. Early walk with C dog and we saw the sunrise, back for a cuppa and cuddles.
Breakfast then the rest of the morning was spent in the garden. Was ruthless and any flowers & tiny green tomatoes were culled from the plants as doubt if they will come to much now. We still have a lot to come so won’t go short. Cleared a lot of the main bed and ring fenced a bit of cash to add some early autumn colour. Oh and there was another skirmish in the never-ending battle with bindweed.
We caught up on things Ambridge over lunch and into the afternoon before catching the end of the womens 100 final.
Another C dog walk and she was being teased by the squirrels busy with the walnut trees, luckily she is still on an extendable lead while we work on her recall.
Bit more cricket watching, few games of Yahtzee before I gave in and had an early night.

Good afternoon. Bit grey here
Managed to get to yoga today. Really enjoyed it after a month off. A lovely stretch and good to switch off mentally for a while. ( I don't know left from right so have to think hard to not be doing the opposite of everyone else!)
Got two long running jobs done yesterday Back gate, second coat of paint and garden bench oiled. In both cases getting out and putting away of equipment took longer than the actual task. But they're done now.
Visited DGD for first time since she came home from hospital. She's very pale and easily tired, but is still bright and determined to start 6th form asap.
Also had lovely photo today of DGS (11) on his first day at secondary school looking very smart in his blazer. And proud. Wonderful to see
Sun's out now so will do a bit of garden tidying soon
Happy 🌞 day everyone

Crazy day of dry, wet, dry, wet, dry, wet and currently dry.1.Yesterday's services - always good when Mother Julian of Norwich presents herself naturally. Exceptional refreshments too, involving much smoked salmon.😋2.County polo afternoon before evensong.3.Sorrow for Taylor Townsend and her 8 match points in vain, but Carlos is through. Next🤞is for Taylor Fritz v djokovic the vile.4.Autumn cyclamen and crocus suddenly seen in various hidden spots, including R's garden, where & was leaving a beautiful clear retro vase, hand-enamelled with snowdrops - before recipient galanthus expert heads off tomorrow on another USA galanthus lecture tour.👌He loves it. 😃5.Nearest shop done over in wee small hours, so all crime scene ribboned off, meaning long journey for final Doblo repair cash to garage S., who says it was a practised job, apparently method used frequently in East Anglian stores with cash machines near the front of stores. The baddies steal farm machinery, of which there is plenty in the Fens, to take out store frontages, chain up ATMs and drag them out!#P.s. Not &, Brownies' honour!🤚CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

"Leftover cauliflower cheese and snorkers" yum! I imagine most of the horses look hopefully if they recognise you with apples! is recall just playing or a language gap?PaulieHerts - if these are possible houses I absolutely applaud your taste!Highdays - always good to take local advice on the really good local food! You had a "good drying day"?!Happycas - insurance is just Such a Faff! Yoga is wonderful Hurrah DGD recovering & planning to start 6th form.ampersand - dratted vehicular issues. My anosmia striking again…Ah the DVD decluttering triggers environmental raffle as you can’t recycle a DVD case in kerbside collection. I got the special DVD folder, he’s decanted the disks & now, the bin’s filling.Oooh, the prospect of Wenzels, the bakers. Somehow I query if the brand will thrive even in the more agricultural areas down south but they’re up against deep recognition in language & culture by Greggs. Who’ve quietly put a lot of work over a lot of years & have a rolling sense of humour.Reading OSPs from 2013. (Great break from sewing embroidery!) [Completed the cushion, tucked in a pad & it’s looking handsome. OhThankHeavens.]Sisters have posted photos of mum's tomatoes. All that effort then looked small & vulnerable - now looking much more leafing & productive!Mum’s cat has an appointment at his “health club” & mum’s carer is struggling not to laugh out loud that some British cats have health clubs. (We didn’t mention the vet suggested prawns & chicken to help the cat cope with a grieving household.)Ooops. Totally forgot it was a Bank Holiday, woke early, got up, dressed, made my packed lunch & drove into Manchester, realising Why the roads were so clear yards before I entered the carpark! Now back in antisocial trousers & gardening happily. Cuttings now swaddled in “greenhouse” bags. See what happens. [Not dead yet!]My list of things to do has a new entry at the top: “find my trousers”. (I was wearing them at 06:05 this morning, they can’t have got that far?) [They hadn’t.]I further foozled which week is this, headed south to mum a week early (& so lacked Good Housekeeping) but arrived in time for uncle & aunt’s 60th wedding anniversary. Splendid family bash, about 20 of us to sing & eat & admire new house & catch up & share photos & memories. “Survivors photo” was an impressive array of ages & heights & I had a lanky young cousin draped across my lap! (Slight ouch they got to 60 years married & counting but not a time to grouse.)I must approach cousins for loan of family tree book which runs back easily 3 generations & they were delighted I had some on ancestry already… (Coaxed/ chivvied them into mother & sisters group photo so now have faces to names hurrah. They then shot sisters & I dashit.)Youngest peaceably ducked out but had a storming cottage pie for us to return to. Mum so exhausted, managed about three bites & tottered back to bed, but leftovers carefully packed & labelled.Awoke to see more photos & jotted memories then let the muse rattle them into something resembling doggerel (a family hobby), sent it off as love & thanks for the party then packed self & tackle ready for the run back north. (I do slightly better as a lyricist but my not-had-tea brain couldn’t hold a tune And juggle words And breathe.)Family tree climbing & also tagging the party guests photo, great fun… Best of all back at home, washing machine going, winding up for coming week. (Fleece, social trousers & work shirt already washed & stacked good to go. I forgot wellies, but into each life, especially Manchester in September.)
Health, strength, love, & courage to all as have need & a strategic hardback, unwanted spiders for the use of (in case horse chestnuts don't work?) likewise.7 -

For yesterday,
Recognising and nodding to my fellow Monday morning shoppers, we tend to gather around the reduced section.
Picked up enough rtc veg to make a big pan of soup for lunches, needed on a cool, rainy day.
My pony was a mud monster and then skittish about having her legs washed down, a discussion was had.
Uni Challenge and getting all 3 of the music questions to beat Capt S.
Turning to the September page of my Almanac and learning of the lunar eclipse on Sunday.

What a lovely sunny afternoon it turned out to be !
Monday I had work in the morning which went well and then straight home, grabbed the bags that were already packed and a doggy and off we went to CP.
Nice walk…until it started raining so stood under a tree for a few minutes till the worst was by!Went for a swim.Out another doggy walk in between his tea and my tea…of course it started raining!Absolutely lashed throughout the night but it was quite a nice soothing noise on the roof. This morning we just missed a heavy shower when we went out at 5.45am. It was still dark when we left but it was nice watching the sky lighten with daylight. Saw a deer on the way back. And again luckily it saw us before dog saw it!In the pool for 9am and had about half an hour to myself before someone else joined me .Back for a much needed hot shower as it certainly wasn’t very warm this morning!Left for home at midday.Caught up on laundry, swim stuff and towels and had brought the bedspread of my caravan bed for a wash .and it’s been thankfully a lovely afternoon for it to dry.Did a bit of watching this afternoon and have just prepped work stuff for tomorrow. And just heading out to get petrol shortly.9 -
