For yesterday,
Horsey town for a top up shop and a quick coffee with my friend.
Made a loaf and did some housekeeping.
I had hung some washing out but a sharp shower saw me running outside to bring it back in, C dog thought Mum running around the garden was a good excuse for a game and run around too, tennis ball in mouth.
Lunch and then over to the stables as our old yard manager was making a visit, we fetched the beautiful grey one in together and there was lots of cuddles. There was also the gift of carrots which always go down a storm.
Veggie lasagne for tea.6 -

Dundee Doll happy birthday!Happycas well done to your granddaughter…home and with good results all round!Tuesday and Wednesday pleasures. Was working yesterday morning, meeting a new family. And then for the very first time took my laptop to the CP and worked there! I have no wifi but also it’s my happy place so want to keep work separate but the chap I was writing about was a happy chap so I was happy to write about that there. But it meant I could have a swim in the afternoon and then again this morning. And had lovely doggy walks too.So a nice swim all by myself in the afternoon.Workety work got most of it done.Walk…oooh look at those very atmospheric clouds…whoosh down came the rain as we walked back.Oooh look ( but don’t you look doggy) there’s a deer! It saw us before he saw it!Bed with a book. And alarm set for a sunrise walk. It was the most beautiful sky.Swim swim. In myself for first 40 minutes then had company and lots of chatting. Hot shower and then headed home…via DD2 to collect a pup.I needed to finish off work when I got in. Sent that off and had good feedback. Couple of amendments added.Chat to sister.
So much rain! Absolutely pouring!More work prep have another service added! So 2 sets of folks to meet tomorrow and write about!DD2 picked up her pup.Cuddles with my doggy.Sun came out and dried up all the rain…have just went out in the dark to bring in yesterday’s washing! Which had got soaked before I left !!7 -
BoP - I think you're probably happy this evening...
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Getting better after being pole axed by sinusitis.
3) Had a quick tidy up.
4) Went to the local NT place with smaller son, neatly missing torrential rain.
5) Drove onwards to the tiny airfield and watched a few planes plus one person practising landing and immediately taking off again.
6) Watched Man Utd v Grimsby.7 -
For yesterday,
Busy morning with chores and errands, plenty of breaks to run around the garden with C dog.
A delivery from secondhand book store, I’m starting the Whitstable Pearl series.
Visit to my big girl, she had a bit of a weepy eye the day before so took a saline solution over to give it a clean and flush out, it’s very dusty in the fields so wonder if the wind has blown some debris in. She’s so good for me and stood patiently while I sorted it out.
A pub meal out with one of our favourite people, he’s been friends with Capt S for 40 years after starting work together all those years ago. Lovely pub and I had a cheese omelette which was chefs kiss.
Stayed up to watch BOP’s team win the penalty shootout, wonder how his head is this morning 🤔7 -
Morning all 😊. Congratulations to BoPs team!
We’ve had a lovely week away in the Cotswolds. A couple of restful days, when it was very warm, in our lovely converted barn, surrounded by garden and birdsong. We’ve also visited 2 fascinating NT houses, Chastleton House, preserved in time and complete with cobwebs as it was when I visited with my mum when it was privately owned about 45 years ago! and Snowshill Manor with an eclectic mix of collections and in a beautiful village. Tea and cake was enjoyed at both 😊
Yesterday we visited Stow on the Wold to look at furniture for our new home (we’re hoping to replace nearly everything, it’s going to be very expensive!) and we had a lovely lunch (slow cooked beef) when we dashed into a pub to escape a torrential downpour.Today we plan to go back to the Farmers Dog for lunch and to buy some more goodies (the sausages were delicious). Then tomorrow it’s packing up and heading home ready for our house hunting on Saturday 🤞
Have a good day everyone 😊8 -
Morning all.
Glad you're feeling better, Frith, sinusitis is miserable.
Fab photos, Paulie, a lovely part of the world which we know well as my brother lives down there. Happy house hunting, exciting times ahead!
Some pleasures:
1) Lovely just-before-Autumn weather. Left school too many years ago to mention but still get the new pencil case fresh start feeling at this time of year.
2) Lovely day out yesterday doing some of the things I enjoy best - a browse round a food hall, a very interesting guided tour of a beautiful house, the best ever fish and chips for tea, time spent relaxing with hubby.
3) The lovely man in the ticket office, when he heard our plans for tea, heartily recommended the fishcakes to such an extent that we picked a couple up to bring home. They are a dieter's delight - two huge thick slices of potato with haddock in the middle, battered and deep fried, and huge. He told us they reheat well in the oven so that's tea tonight sorted, love a recommendation!
4) Coming home late evening, the sky was still blue and the setting sun had tinged all the clouds deep peachy pink, quite magical.
5) Home alone this morning so pottering about getting my house in order ready for a new term, well actually just about to take my coffee out into the sunny garden, plenty of time for cleaning if and when it rains!
Have a good day, nearly the weekend yet again.6
