Good morning! From Thursday: I was up and at ‘em early. Did my chores. Packed a bag! Went to work to meet a new family. Home…quick change out of work clothes and I off we went to CP ( land of no wifi)
Had the most lovely walk when we got there. Stood and watched an aerial display of what I think were red kites but they were much lower than I’ve ever seen them. I was just amazed.
I’d had a text in the morning from chap saying that they’d had a cancellation and could fit my decking that day so it was all done when I had arrived. It’s been on my wish list and I thought it would be too dear and I couldn’t justify it but the chap ( who was doing another job) had given me a quote for pre owned decking which was in my budget. It’s beautiful! And I love it! Means I can have a door open and the dog can get out and be enclosed.Had a nice afternoon swim.Had lasagne for my tea RTC of course! And just the loveliest of evening walks as the sun was setting . The glow on the wheat field was beautiful and there was a young deer in the first field who got a fright when it saw us. But thankfully ran away in the opposite direction.Finished my book. And a reasonable sleep by my shocking standards . For Friday….a beautiful morning walk. We went out at 5.45am and all is silent till you hear the wind rustling the leaves. The robin is now singing again ‘I’m back…move over blackbird!’ Watched the deer in the field 2 away. And heard the red kites in the trees 2 fields away.Morning swim! 2 hours of swimming and chatting! With visit from robins. We were just talking about them and what they’re supposed to signify and 2 appeared right at the poolside!Came home about 2pm. Had a quick walk before we left and saw the Kite on the fence post at field edge. I was like wow wow wow….dog was like sniff sniff.Washing on and out and dry.Sat and wrote a service but will have to go and meet the family again as they don’t have internet/email. So I’ve done as much as I can for now.
DD2 and The Pup came over to help me with a poster! I was trying ( obviously very trying for her 😆) on FaceTime to do something on the computer and she said shall I just come over and she just went tap tap tap and drag here and drag there and created something I couldn’t! And she did my toenails too…and she brought me courgettes and potatoes from her garden!Went up to bed early with a new library book. It’s a lovely morning with a pleasant cool breeze.7 -
Congratulations to your Grandson SSue
Good to hear that all went well with the operation HappyCas
For yesterday,
A better nights sleep.
Busy morning, got over to see my equine girlie and gave her mane, tail and legs a tidy up. There was a nice cool breeze blowing through the barn which made it easier to work.
Picking and eating our own tomatoes & salad for lunch.
Most of the afternoon was spent in the garden reading in a shady spot with C dog asleep at my feet, boy does she snore 💤 Also got some dead heading done but everything is looking very parched with the hot summer we’ve had.
Heard an owl when C dog went out for final garden visit, possibly in the beech trees but couldn’t see.7 -

A busy day.Out to a work event this morning/ early afternoon. Met lots of lovely people. Got a goody bag! DD2 has nabbed the cloth bag!And home! DD2 was already there so all I had to do was change into my swimsuit. She’d already grabbed the table and chairs and lanterns I was taking down.Doggy walk at CP. Then we went for a swim which first half hour was fine then it got crazy busy. It was a gorgeous afternoon. Sat on my wee balcony because I could! The Chap picked up some pizza on his way back from work and we sat outside and ate which was nice. They took pup a walk but was too warm for my old boy so we just stayed put. I did the dishes and tidied up and time to go home.Thank goodness for a spare pair of specs as DD2 has my bag in the car! With said specs! I was wearing my prescription sunglasses. Cannot read without them!Quiet evening. Watched Casualty.6

Highdays - just be sure that you avoid the Book Fair in Hay - no place to stay for miles.
SSue - wonderful news about your DGS!
HappyCas - happy to hear operation a success and you are improving. Don't be in a hurry - let people do extra work for you and let you take it easy.

For yesterday,
Didn’t get up until 8am which is a lie-in for me.
With more sensible temperatures it meant that I didn’t mind the oven being on so made a loaf plus some rolls for the freezer. Also changed the bed and generally pottered, Capt S did some more hedge cutting.
Got over to see the beautiful grey one, she was going back to being in at night so left her out until just after lunch. She had a big chip in her left hind hoof so tidied that up as best I could, we have the farrier on Monday so he can file it down properly then but I did pop some barrier cream to prevent any nasties getting in.
Listened to footie scores coming in ( United drew ) and then went out to next village along to take C dog for a longer walk behind the studs.Thought about stopping at the pub on way back but car park was rammed so drove on and had pizza & beer at home.5
