Best wishes to your GD HappyCas

    For the weekend,

C dog had her first trip to the farm shop for breakfast, she was perfectly behaved and had some treats under the table, her M&D both had a warm cheese scone.

Busy Saturday morning with bread made, a bed changed and washing done.

Picking and eating our own toms & salad.

Chatting and sharing my (many) horsey stories with a young lady at the stables, made me feel like the old wise woman of the yard ☺️

Sitting out in the garden until late, watching the stars slowly appear.

An early morning walk with my dog around the field, have missed this.

The farmer felled a tree the other day and with his permission we have used some to create a wildlife corner in our garden, hot work moving the branches but pleased with the result.

Warm by 11 so headed indoors for a late breakfast and catching up on all things Ambridge.

Late afternoon we got small dog’s paddling pool out and filled it up for C dog, so far she is very wary of it but will leave it out and see what happens.

Such a warm, sunny Sunday and the kind of day that lingers in your memory to be of comfort in the depths of winter.

    It's me again!

    Pleasures for today (Monday)

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Vaguely tidied up in the a.m.

    3) Survived another shift at work. Was told off for not wearing the official shoes (which are giving all of us plantar fasciitis). Told them that. I don't see another colleague from one week to the next so I shall take both pairs of shoes next time...

    4) My brother popped round as they had had a glut of tomatoes in the greenhouse so I got a large box of those plus 3 homegrown peppers and some French beans. And some charcoal he had made in his woodland.

    5) Just applied for 2 jobs, which was tiresome but done now.

    For yesterday,

Rubbish night due to heat so pleasure to get up and oh that first cuppa.

Out early to see my big girl, she was already in and snoozing in her stable after a night out in the field. The barn was airy & cool so a nice place to be.

A few pottering jobs at home, bit of hand washing and paperwork sorted.

Capt S came home and with sun on the other side of the cottage we sat in the cool part of the garden.

Made the courgette and butter bean salad again, even with just the one plant we have lots of courgettes so most meals now feature them and tomatoes!

    Evening all.

Still 33 degrees here at 6.30pm, phew!

    Some pleasures:

    1) Doctor very kindly texted me in advance of my next appointment to say my scan results had come back clear. So thoughtful as it's always on your mind til your results come when you've had any sort of test done. He's now referred me on to a specialist. Very grateful for the quick turnaround.

    2) Managing to sleep surprisingly well in the hot weather, quite surprised as I usually toss and turn and make myself even hotter! Lovely to wake up refreshed.

    3) To the dentist to get my stitches out - oh, the relief - and confirmation that all is now healing really well. Back in October for a review and X rays to check if the implant is embedded well enough and to start on whatever he decides to do with the teeth either side. Hubby also to his dentist as he broke a tooth, fortunately just needed filing down. What a pair!

    4) Following on from the dentist we visited a lovely HH garden, so peaceful and pleasant in the shade watching the butterflies in the borders. Will return as the house is guided tours only and fully booked today as we visited on spec. We had taken our lunch with us so had a picnic in the garden - very MSE!

    5) The journey home took nearly three hours instead of one and was definitely not a pleasure. Road closed both ways due to a lorry fire and also a serious accident which needed the air ambulance. Lots of queues and standing traffic but we are home safe and sound and hoping the poor people involved are ok. Such a stressy journey I feel like we are still going, will potter for a bit and settle down.

Hope you are managing to keep cool, certainly here today has been the hottest day and we start gradually cooling down from tomorrow. Hopefully the weekend, when we are away, will be sunny though more bearable temperature-wise but at least the children have now had some decent weather for the summer holidays after the cool and rainy start. Fingers crossed for all who know an A Level student getting their results tomorrow, a tense time. We have a break this year having had A Level and GCSE results last year, next year will be middle grandson with A Levels.
