Best wishes to your GD HappyCas

    For the weekend,

C dog had her first trip to the farm shop for breakfast, she was perfectly behaved and had some treats under the table, her M&D both had a warm cheese scone.

Busy Saturday morning with bread made, a bed changed and washing done.

Picking and eating our own toms & salad.

Chatting and sharing my (many) horsey stories with a young lady at the stables, made me feel like the old wise woman of the yard ☺️

Sitting out in the garden until late, watching the stars slowly appear.

An early morning walk with my dog around the field, have missed this.

The farmer felled a tree the other day and with his permission we have used some to create a wildlife corner in our garden, hot work moving the branches but pleased with the result.

Warm by 11 so headed indoors for a late breakfast and catching up on all things Ambridge.

Late afternoon we got small dog’s paddling pool out and filled it up for C dog, so far she is very wary of it but will leave it out and see what happens.

Such a warm, sunny Sunday and the kind of day that lingers in your memory to be of comfort in the depths of winter.

    Morning all.

Shaping up to be another lovely day here. Yesterday was glorious and then  a stunning moon hanging low in the sky last night.

Happycas - hoping all goes well for your granddaughter, the waiting is so stressful so hope for all of you it comes round quickly and all goes well.

    Some pleasures:

    1) The dreaded brain scan went well after all my fretting. Straight in when we arrived (early) so was in and out before my actual appointment time. Small friendly unit, lots of parking right outside, no hassle. Just the wait for the results now.

    2) Glad I've got an appointment with the dentist on Wednesday, the self-dissolving stitches haven't dissolved and are now pricking and catching. Will be a relief to get them out, hopefully a sign that all has healed up well.

    3) To a local stately home yesterday with a picnic and military band concert in the sunshine. Lovely, relaxed way to spend a summer Sunday.

    4) Will speak to my brother on the phone shortly to finalise plans for next weekend when we are having a couple of days away with them, hope the weather stays good.

    5) Son and I will get our walk in early today before it gets too hot and then not a lot happening so will enjoy the sunshine before the worst of the heatwave arrives over the next day or so.

Have a good day whatever you are up to.

    Pleasures for yesterday (Sunday)

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Went to a Freecycle lady to get some top soil. Had a chat and looked round her garden.

    3) Went to another Freecycle couple to get a Belfast sink but it was massive- like a shower tray! So I didn't get it.

    4) Sat by the pool.

    5) An owl flew into the kitchen window and left a print. A photo doesn't show that you can see each individual feather.

    6) Had another barbecue.

    7) Caught up with Casualty.

    8) Sat by the fire and toasted marshmallows.

    It's me again!

    Pleasures for today (Monday)

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Vaguely tidied up in the a.m.

    3) Survived another shift at work. Was told off for not wearing the official shoes (which are giving all of us plantar fasciitis). Told them that. I don't see another colleague from one week to the next so I shall take both pairs of shoes next time...

    4) My brother popped round as they had had a glut of tomatoes in the greenhouse so I got a large box of those plus 3 homegrown peppers and some French beans. And some charcoal he had made in his woodland.

    5) Just applied for 2 jobs, which was tiresome but done now.

    For yesterday,

Out early to horsey town, met my friend for a coffee and did a food shop.

Over to see my horse, already warm but there was at least a breeze out in the paddocks. She was coming in at lunchtime then out again overnight and that will be the plan until the heatwave breaks.

Lots of washing dried on the line.

A very hot afternoon, C dog and I had a snooze.

Currently reading a book about the Monmouth rebellion against James 2nd and was able to answer three questions about it on Uni Challenge, that and a few about literature meant I easily beat Capt S.

Hello from the land of much heat!!

for Monday. I was working in the morning. Met a new family. Picked up the daughter in my town and we drove about 8 miles away to her mums.

Went along to see a stunning art project in that town.

And home and wrote and wrote and was almost finished when my friend picked me up to go out for an early tea. Local cheap as chips place where a main course is a fiver! And we both drank tap water so we were cheap dates! I had a burger.

And back to mine for about an hour of chatting then I had to finish work. Sent that off and then grabbed a bag of stuff and off we went to caravan.

Got there about 8pm and had a lovely walk and then bed!

    For today:

The most beautiful sunrise-y walk. Oh it just filled my heart! Was gently warm at 6am…squirrels a scampering and a deer in the three away field.

Set my timer for my swim ( that’s why I went down last night so I could squeeze in a swim) and enjoyed it. It just makes my head feel right when I start the day with a swim and I now miss it if I don’t. Nice chatters and a quick 4 lengths after the alarm had went off at 10am.

Drove home with my wet costume still on! And had a shower at home as I had to get ready for work!

Work this afternoon. Beautiful service. and I was kindly invited back to the tea. Met someone I know and chatted with them. Such a lovely family.

And home. Holy moly at the heat in the car as I drove home. Temp gauge saying 28o.

Lovely welcome home from 2 doggies.

Don’t need tea as I ate at wake.

And currently sat across from bedroom fan trying to be cool and read for a bit.

I have a couple of changes to make to the service I wrote yesterday but shouldn’t take me long…may do later…may not 😆

    Pleasures for today (Tuesday)

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Cooked the tomatoes at a low heat for 2 hours.

    3) My friend brought round weed and watercress for the new pond.

    4) Cancelled my car insurance so it didn't auto renew.

    5) Took smaller son to Sainsbury so we could sit in the air conditioned cafe.

    6) We planned a very complicated holiday. Our football team are going to play in Southport on a Saturday then Marine on the Tuesday. So we will go up on the supporters coach on Saturday, watch the match, look round Liverpool/Crosby/Formby then go to the Tuesday match and mysteriously appear on the coach home!
We will also meet my son's online friend who lives in Liverpool.

    7) I had a Hello Fresh box free with a voucher from bigger son which was dropped off today. I cooked the recipe from it then cancelled my subscription.

    8) Lay on the lawn watching meteorites and was joined by a cat, a son, bats and a tawny oil that flew past very low! Saw about 10 meteorites with 3 good ones with tails.

    For yesterday,

Rubbish night due to heat so pleasure to get up and oh that first cuppa.

Out early to see my big girl, she was already in and snoozing in her stable after a night out in the field. The barn was airy & cool so a nice place to be.

A few pottering jobs at home, bit of hand washing and paperwork sorted.

Capt S came home and with sun on the other side of the cottage we sat in the cool part of the garden.

Made the courgette and butter bean salad again, even with just the one plant we have lots of courgettes so most meals now feature them and tomatoes!

    Evening all.

Still 33 degrees here at 6.30pm, phew!

    Some pleasures:

    1) Doctor very kindly texted me in advance of my next appointment to say my scan results had come back clear. So thoughtful as it's always on your mind til your results come when you've had any sort of test done. He's now referred me on to a specialist. Very grateful for the quick turnaround.

    2) Managing to sleep surprisingly well in the hot weather, quite surprised as I usually toss and turn and make myself even hotter! Lovely to wake up refreshed.

    3) To the dentist to get my stitches out - oh, the relief - and confirmation that all is now healing really well. Back in October for a review and X rays to check if the implant is embedded well enough and to start on whatever he decides to do with the teeth either side. Hubby also to his dentist as he broke a tooth, fortunately just needed filing down. What a pair!

    4) Following on from the dentist we visited a lovely HH garden, so peaceful and pleasant in the shade watching the butterflies in the borders. Will return as the house is guided tours only and fully booked today as we visited on spec. We had taken our lunch with us so had a picnic in the garden - very MSE!

    5) The journey home took nearly three hours instead of one and was definitely not a pleasure. Road closed both ways due to a lorry fire and also a serious accident which needed the air ambulance. Lots of queues and standing traffic but we are home safe and sound and hoping the poor people involved are ok. Such a stressy journey I feel like we are still going, will potter for a bit and settle down.

Hope you are managing to keep cool, certainly here today has been the hottest day and we start gradually cooling down from tomorrow. Hopefully the weekend, when we are away, will be sunny though more bearable temperature-wise but at least the children have now had some decent weather for the summer holidays after the cool and rainy start. Fingers crossed for all who know an A Level student getting their results tomorrow, a tense time. We have a break this year having had A Level and GCSE results last year, next year will be middle grandson with A Levels.
