For yesterday, rare attack of Monday blues so might struggle
Did whizz around first thing to get all my jobs done so that I could sit down to watch the last throes of the cricket, kudos to Mr Woakes for coming out to bat with a dislocated shoulder but the day went for India and a draw across the series, seemed a fair result.
Rain and squally winds meant no time spent in garden, apart from quick dashes by C dog of course.
My big girl was fetched in early due to above, spent time with her and sorted out rugs for autumn, one bagged up to be washed and reproofed by local firm.
Early evening turned bright & sunny so a walk around the fields.
Watched some old Big Bang for a belly laugh.6 -
Morning all.
Hope the weather hasn't caused too much damage and destruction where you are.
Recent pleasures:
1) Just back from a couple of days away with youngest grandson. Had a great time, two days of sunshine despite the weather forecast. His birthday pressie from us so he was naturally totally indulged and his every whim within reason catered for!
2) My mouth is healing well from stage one of the dental procedures and generally feeling much less waffy.
3) Blustery here but lovely sunshine and clear blue skies.
4) Eating out of the freezers so haven't done any food shopping in over a week. Running a bit low on fresh fruit and salad stuff but it's been good while it lasted. Spent what we'd saved on meals out with the bairn while we were away!
5) Good to be home and feeling well enough to enjoy just 'being'. Hopefully won't have anything too exciting to report over the next few days; 'normal life' is the biggest pleasure ever. Oh dear, how boring does that make me sound?!
Happy Tuesday.7 -
Hello. For Monday : was a wild and windy day…kind of Novembery. But not cold like November. A few things strewn across the garden and I noticed a few trees down on main drive.I got lovely feedback from the service I’d written and just one wee bit to change.Finished stripping wallpaper in downstairs loo which was harder than I’d expected it to be. And wallpapered and then painted a shelf. Looks nice.
And read a book.Tuesday…was out in the garden at 2.15am…stargazing whilst a dog needed a peruse…I thought he was going to be sick but he wasn’t. Lay on sofa till about 4am and thought stuff this and went back to bed!Down to CP this morning about 10am which is later than usual. But had a windy walk and a rainy swim.Chap from across the way came over to say goodbye and gave me some of his potted plants which was nice of him. So I’ll have new neighbours soon! And home, quick nip into supermarket and got a couple of things RTC.Had steak pie and mash and sprouts and peas and baby corn for tea.Big chat to friend on phone. And now just reading for a bit then will head to bed.7 -

4. In bed ready for early alarm call for work.
5. Had a custard slice - oh my was delicious6 -
and she's back. fab time in China, far too short but our hosts were super and helped us to fit in as much as humanly possible! gonna be more than 5!
1) despite air traffic being stopped over the UK and our flight being somewhat delayed our flight in Schipohl to Beijing was held for us - I ran from terminal D to E!
2) our luggage didn't run so it didn't make it! we spent our spare time in Beijing working with the lost luggage guy and help from online translator to ensure our luggage made it to us - watched Paddinton in Peru then slept then watched Eddie the Eagle. flight 9 1/2 hours
3) then our flight to Fuzhong and we were met as arranged - car to the hotel which was super, I fell asleep soon as my head hit the pillow!
4) breakfast then our hosts took us to the local museum and there was a special display of the terracota army (though DrM tonight said i couldn't count 2 soldiers as an army, spoil sport!)
5) after lunch we went for a massage - a full ouchy ouchy but oh boy did i feel good after
6) then back for a power nap then out for dinner. The advantage of going economy is we're allowed a day's recovery time hooray. by which time our luggage had arrived hooray
7) Saturday conference day - I was on opening keynote - there were several small addresses to the audience in Chinese then me then another talk in Chinese then my colleague then another talk in Chinese. the Chinese talks, with powerpoints filled with Chinese characters, were rather meditative :-)
8) lunch at a local restaurant which served delicacies of the province then back for a work meeting all in Chinese with the occasional question coming to us in English. This was accompanied by a lovely tea ceremony so i thoroughly enjoyed the whole occasion and good work was done.
9) power nap (yay) then off for VIP conference dinner - wow!
10) and Sunday another fab day - train trip to nearby Quanzhou: Emporium of the World in Song-Yuan China - UNESCO World Heritage Centre temples and a puppet show - I bought 2 puppets, one chinese dragon (red) and a monkey king for my sister (remember Monkey?)
11) back to the hotel and a late light supper pack and bed
12) flight changed from 8:45 to 10 which left us very very tight at Beijing but there were 30 of us in the same boat and we were met off the plane and escorted through passport control then onto our gate - very civilised and we all made it for the long flight to Heathrow
13) and i was sat next to a Leyton Orient fan (parents from Fuzhou so the three go back for a month each summer) - what were the chances! We talked football. He will be off to Kenilworth Road at Christmas
14) By the time our flight was due the storm had abated and we made it back to Edinburgh then from bus to Dundee and there were 3 taxis and we got the third hooray. i got home at 2:08 this morning, wrote a note for mum saying 'don't wake me!) and slept through till well after 10. bliss.
15) a lazy brunch then a lazy coffee with mum then a long soak in the bath then MrT
16) then gbf came round and we went for tea and scones at the local hotel and I showed him all my photos
17) home for supper / piano / dog then off for Rangers match with MrG and DrM
18) and now i'm off to bed. night all. lazy morning then off to work lunch timeMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Hey DD 👋🏻For yesterday,
Blustery day, maybe remnants of the storm, a bit of buddleia snapped off but that was it.
Worked in garden, tied up toms and put several to one side for lunch, C dog picked one up and walked around tail wagging to show off her prize, she dropped it when asked and hadn’t even broken the skin, had forgotten how gently a lab can carry things.
Dragonflies and bees busy on the flowers.
Time spent with the beautiful grey one, she had been moved onto fresh grazing and had a grass baby!
Tasty salad for tea, butter bean, courgette and feta, yum.6 -
We had an amazing weekend away at the steam fair.
The weather was kind, not too hot, and with a bit of colour we look healthier.
Before we left the washing machine packed up, so at the moment while we look for a second hand one we are doing wash loads by hand with a new-found appreciation for washing machines.
The garden needs mowing, I did the front, but in the back the hover flies are enjoying it, but if it’s dry enough it may get done later.
Back later with todays catch up.
