For yesterday,
Out early and at the emporium for a food shop, salads, protein, ice-cream and a box of Bendicks that went straight into the fridge ☺️Over to see my girl, she was sleepy after a night out and happy to have Mum cosseting. There was a good breeze blowing through the barn and all the horses were comfortable.
Youngest DSS came for a visit on his way back home from a previous days racing, good to see him and catch up on all the news.
Finished my latest book, There One Moment by L Moriarty ( highly recommend) and started Grey Wolf by Louise Penny. The joy of becoming reacquainted with Armand and all at Three Pines, like catching up with old friends.
Last walk around the garden before bed and oh the smell from the honeysuckle.6 -

Watering the pots early and the very dark pelargonium has its flowers out, striking against some cosmos.
At the yard, stuffed a hay net full which made me sneeze and then spent some time with my girlie, too hot even at 10am for work so we just daydreamed for a bit.

Morning all.
The weekend again, the weeks whizz by in a way they never did when we were working!
Some pleasures:
1) Was expecting a blistering hot day here yesterday but fortunately it remained cooler and overcast, much more pleasant for sitting outside and reading.
2) Chats and measuring up for new patio at the bottom of the garden as that area gets the very last of the evening sun. Will go and choose the stone next week.
3) One of the babies is coming to stay with son and DIL overnight for the first time. This has taken more preparation than a royal visit. Son and hubby currently erecting a gazebo in the garden for her to play under.
4) Two new cake recipes to try, one highly recommended. Love baking (and eating) cakes but can't often afford the calories. These will be tucked away in the freezer out of harm's way until our holiday in a fortnight. Will get on with them shortly before it gets too hot.
5) Weekly treat of a 'hard copy' newspaper complete with supplements and two crosswords.
Right, better get on with the baking and then not a lot happening today, it's hot and sunny already, we are expecting 29 degrees today.
Don't often say this in a British summer but keep cool!5 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep but far too hot.
2) Actually had someone helping me at work so it was possible to achieve everything!
3) Went to see my friend's new flat and we watched a football game on the television. 34⁰ during much of the afternoon.
4) Smaller son and I went to feed bigger son's cats.
5) Played the piano for a bit but too warm.
6) Have just put our tea in the oven!!4 -
Good morning. Still sunny but I think we've managed to jinx the weather by booking a few days on the coast!
Lost two long posts last week so was sulking! They contained very important information. So important I can't remember any of it!
Anyway
Been enjoying the weather. The words 'too' and 'hot' never go together for me. And it's actually been warm enough to us to sit outside until bedtime. Perfect!
Finally took my eternity ring to have a missing stone replaced. It's a ring of tiny diamonds and will cost £25. As we have an excess of £50 on the house insurance, it's easier to just sort it myself.
And across the street from the jeweller, an egg-free free cake shop has opened. Definitely not MSE, but absolutely delicious. A real treat for egg-free me.
Been hobbling about with sciatica all week but I think it's easing off at last. So painful at the time though.
Right, off to sort out the fridge before we go.
Happy 🌞day everyone
