Write my day whilst I’m waiting for dinner cooking.
Rubbish sleep. Spare bed is not the same as my bed! And it’s the wrong side of the bed. And…and…and I was just glad when it was 5am and I could get up!Went into town first thing To go to the bank. Popped into favourite florist for some eucalyptus and a blether! Went to favourite town coffee shop. And then up the road home!Had a work call to make and made arrangements to meet new family.
Did a bit of a tidy up, though was still reasonably tidy. Just bits of clean washing here , there and everywhere drying off. And bedding absolutely everywhere!Had a snoozette.6 -
1. Like PK, saw a wonderful large lime yellow butterfly yesterday, rose out of a church yew. Of course, by the time I'd lifted mob. for pic, it was high up, up and away, well over road and into more trees.
2. Reminded Seniors after serving their post-training munch that tomorrow is International Women's Day, so🏉wins to please us, please.😁
3. Thought of a meaningful Lent extra - not just no alcohol or choc, which register little in & daily life anyway - but No More Books must and will mean that. re: no alcohol -added some special Polish liqueur, a recent present from The Alma, to pancake mix on Shrove Tuesday - 😋.
4. His swanly majesty was back earlier, so little Miss White and the other ducks gave way. Training leftovers of lasagne and pasta today.5. Such sun as there is starting to be is so welcome.

1 We popped to the local homebase and picked up 4 decorative concrete slab stones with birds and squirrels on for pennies, and dh picked up some hardware for 90 percent off he’s happy.
2 I popped into Aldi for one thing and failed but wasn’t trying hard not to fail, I picked up a couple of packs of pork chops 75 percent off, got them home, made a marinade for them all and portioned them up.
3 Cooking up some sausages for dinner with cabbage, yorkies and gravy, called it a deconstructed toad in the hole.
4 Applied for some roles.
5 The most amazingly yellow flutter by in the garden and bumbles, it feels like spring.
1 I did the rest of my to do list for yesterday today
2 De cluttered a drawer severely. Nice to have space.
3 I felt like making something and happened to have the bits for bread pudding that dh likes, I’m working on the idea of bread has been previously frozen and a one off treat, it made the house smell amazing while cooking with vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg.
4 Freezer to oven fish and chips tonight
5 Took the time to do a hair pack

Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) My friend texted to say he'd made me a bird nest box! I was on the way out so he said he'd meet me there...
3) Went to coffee morning and my friend appeared with the nest box and had a cup of tea! My other friend had brought us some almond slices and we played board games.
4) Ham and cheese toasties for lunch.
5) Smaller son went with me to B and Q and we got some skirting board for the last bit of the kitchen. (Where there used to be a unit with a caravan gas hob!)
6) Did the first online drawing class.
7) Meeting with my manager before work and I was offered a new job. Very similar days but actually more sociable hours than now.
8) Then did a shift at work.
9) Friend texted and will come round on Sunday to cut my skirting boards.
10) Made shakshuka for tea.
11) Watching the Last Leg now.7 -
Hello again.
Another lovely day in our neck of the woods, bit of rain overnight but that was it. So used to it being cold and miserable or even snowing at this time of year so this has all been so welcome.
Some pleasures:
1) Had a lovely birthday (thank you for the kind wishes).
2) Littlest grandson back from a three day trip with school. Lots of activities and adventures and, thanks to all our castle visits last year. he deservedly won the archery competition!
3) Hubby got his confirmation letter that his state pension will start in June. He stopped (paid) work when we moved down here six years ago so has been a kept man all this time but I'm not sure if I feel old enough to be married to a pensioner, even if I am six years older than him!
3) Met up with my sister, brother and SIL for lunch today as part of my birthday celebrations. Thanks to my earlier this week shopping trip I, for once, got the smart casual thing pretty much spot on if I say so myself! Brother paid the bill and when we offered to pay our share we were told that it was their treat, how kind and very generous.
5) Saved the best for last - I will become a great aunt in June, my niece is 24 weeks pregnant. Been a difficult journey so they are just telling everyone now. So thrilled and excited for her - and for my sister who will become a grandma for the first time, such a joy.
Looking forward to a sunny weekend, hope you have a good one whatever you are up to.

Congratulations on being offered a new job @Frith!
Some pleasures:
1) It’s not been a bad week, plenty of gentle socialising with friends. Not so much that it makes me feel overwhelmed and exhausted, but just enough to feel loved and supported. I still can’t talk about the late Mr CJ without dissolving into tears, but it is getting a tiny bit more manageable.
2) I’m still tidying and deep cleaning the house (a distraction technique I suppose!) and am very pleased with the progress I’m making. I’m tackling the garage this week, and hope I can get rid of the dozens of old paint tins at the tip (tricky to dispose of if there is any liquid in them, I may need to source some sawdust to add).
3) I’ve made a Gantt chart to plan the redecoration I’d like to do. Starting with just a fresh coat of emulsion on the bedroom walls, and then a bigger challenge of repainting the kitchen. The vinyl wraps on the wall cupboard doors above the kettle and toaster have lifted slightly (we were both guilty of sometimes forgetting to move the toaster forward before using it) and I’ve watched a few YouTube videos which show how easy it is to strip the wraps and repaint the doors with a special paint. I’m excited to give it a go, I’m pretty good at decorating 😀
4) The local Homebase store has been turned into a branch of The Range, and I was delighted to find that they had the paint I need for the kitchen cupboards (RustOleum, Cotswold Green) so I’ve bought it in readiness. I’m really looking forward to tackling the project.
5) Whilst in the queue for the Community Fridge (several of us get there early, just to have a natter), one of the regulars asked me if I would help him complete his UC application form. He has a number of medical/social issues and told me he was dyslexic, however it quickly became obvious to me that he can’t read or write at all. I quietly did the whole form for him (thankfully having previously read the MSE disability boards I was well prepped) and he was so, so grateful. I’m glad I was able to help.
6) This morning I am going to dig up a few bunches of snowdrops and tete a tete daffodils from my garden and transplant them around Mister CJ’s grave in the village churchyard. A lovely sunny day for doing this.
7) Big soppy dog Rufus is a constant pleasure, there is something very comforting about having another heartbeat in the house.

Congratulations on the baby news Highdays 🎉
For yesterday,
Awake early so reading in bed, made all the better by the cuppa supplied by Capt S.
Made some bread dough but popped it into the fridge as I knew that would be out of the house for some time.
Over to fenland market town for a catch up with family over there, saw eldest niece and had lunch out with DSIL, her partner and his daughter.
The weather was good so after lunch we had a walk down by the river, lots of nests along the banks.
A good day spent with loved ones.7 -
Hello…just in from being out out!Another atrocious sleep…back in my own bed tonight hope it makes a difference. It was such a lovely spring like day! Washing almost dried. Windows opened. List written and all ticked off.Bedding back on.
Bees a buzzing.
Gentle warmth. Think we reached the heady temps of 14o.
Did a bit of work admin. And then tried to sort the drawers that I keep work things/paperwork in. This was a wee chest of drawers bought very cheaply many years ago in ikea. And up until a year ago it was tucked away in the cupboard under the stairs with hats and scarves etc in it. Then I painted it and put new handles on it but the runners were always a bit dodgy and every time I opened a drawer it got worse! So I’ve taken the drawers out and had a brainwave…I had wanted baskets for my recently painted built in wardrobe and was keeping an eye out for an affordable set…so now have three nicely painted drawers /boxes with matching handles that tone in with my wardrobe colour! Perfect! I’ll now keep an eye out for something to store my work stuff in!Caught up on some watching as I was doing my chores. And then showered and changed for going out out for dinner. Which was very nice and absolutely stuffed and ready for bed!A good day!6 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Good to get up after a very disjointed sleep. I knew I had to get up when the alarm went off so kept waking up thinking it had gone off. Eventually, I woke up yet again and it was light, but 6am. Then I dozed off and woke again and it was very light and I leapt out of bed swearing, thinking I would be late - but it was still before 7!!
2) I went to visit my friend T in Birmingham, had 2 cups of tea and plane spotted from his window! Had a good chat about our mutual friends from years past. Didn't enjoy the driving in a city as I'm not used to it.
3) Got back just in time to take smaller son to the football and our team won 3-0. 9 goals in the last 2 games!
4) I made toad in the hole for tea then a lemon drizzle cake.
5) Talked to my school friend.
6) Watched Casualty.5
