Up on the Gog Magogs with Doblo heating being very lovely as I write.
As expressed by so many, the pleasure of a dfv catch-up is always special, like settling down with a favourite author for a dependably good read.🫶🤗
1. Our Nomads have sneaked a 1-point win this arvo on the final whistle. Well-deserved it was, ending a long losing streak, also ending Ely Tigers' 4-victory run. Served everyone's post-match munch, as on training nights. Opponents were gracious and all afters went well. Assured everyone my All Blacks' scarf, paua earrings and hefty pounamu pendant were what swung it.🏉🦚
😁
2. Another dozen books left on emporium bookshelf.
3. Scrumdown batch marmalade given to 3 intended recipients, also emporium dark chocolate wheaten biccies to American A., after 3-month military secondment. He was so pleased to be back at training on Thursday and had a great last quarter as 2nd half replacement - turned the match.👏🦚🏉 He is also at great pains to state his horror at 'insane White House criminals on the loose' and 'all for Putin and Xi's pleasure, all down to Musk's dirty millions.'. Renouncing his US citizenship would mean renouncing his UK-base career, but he's feeling he must. This young man is 28.
4. The pleasure of today's sun actually having warmth in it for the first few hours. Coats and gloves generally didn't go on until 2nd half.
5. Young friend loves the cat brocade draft excluder & found for £1 at that newish Town of Horse CS, Lainey.😁 Is it on your gps yet?

We certainly have shared so much in this thread DD I’m so grateful I have this space to write and to read.Up early.
Wrote a list of chores and ticked them all off! Been watching The Bay as my day has gone along.
Painted chairs…me ‘ I’ll do one each day’ also me…aaargh I’ve just bumped into that chair I need to paint again 😆 it’s now painted and in its proper place!Washing almost dried outside.Washed two sofa cushion covers …that will be an ongoing job weather permitting this week…and waaah to the wrestling them back on 😆
Facetime with DD2 who’s away for a couple of days.
The Chap had given us both lovely flowers yesterday so put them at the big window today. And generally just pottered around.7 -
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep - just cut a bit short!
2) Worked from 8-12 then had a free cup of tea.
3) Went to the FoodShare (you pay £4) and got quite a few bits including a rosemary plant and what I really needed - a loaf of bread and a box of breakfast cereal for when smaller son starts his course. The queue was long but we were all in the sunshine and the lady in front of me was chatty.
4) Put the washing out, though it still had to be finished on the radiators.
5) Listened to the commentary for our football team and they won 6-0 !
6) Went to feed bigger son's cats (he's due home any time now) and left half a HM blackcurrant pie in his fridge so that should confuse him!
7) Had pancakes for tea (from Foodshare) with some ageing nectarines that I halved then fried in butter and sugar. Then we had some apple dumpling things (also FS).
8) Watched Great Pottery Throw Down from under the cat.5 -
Pleasures for today
1. Set my alarm for an hour late this morning, just made it in time to work. Pleasure was an extra hour and the other team manager telling me not to rush. We usually arrive an hour early to do a handover.
2. Short walk in the sunshine
3. Driving into work on a Sunday means much less traffic.
4. As I’m changing teams at work, received a lovely card from my team.
5. Ate reasonably healthy today apart from a small bar of chocolate.7 -
For the last few days,
A weekend away in Harrogate, lots of sunshine so walking around was a pleasure in itself although coming from the relatively flat east anglia the hills were a test to our calves. The best risotto I’ve ever tasted at an Italian restaurant, need to up my game!Thoroughly enjoyed looking around the Mercer gallery, unfortunately our budget excluded any picture buying but did get a couple of postcards.
Having a coffee at the Old Swan and thinking about Agatha hiding away from the world.
Admiring the architecture in the old townhouses and wondering how long it took to plant all the spring bulbs in the green public spaces.
Driving over towards Leeds to have Sunday lunch with DSS and lovely fiancée, we have a save the date card.Cuddles with the spaniel boy and a few tears over belated birthday gift, framed picture of small dog ❤️Lovely, comfortable, family run hotel, friendly people and the breakfasts were yum.8 -
My OS pleasures:
1) The sunshine! Oh the sunshine warms my soul, and it is nice to see how happy and cheerful it makes everyone else too. Did a couple of quick shops today and people in the queues were chatting instead of looking glum.
2) Called into the local hospice’s warehouse charity store to donate several more bags of stuff; it feels very good to be giving back.
3) Whilst in the charity warehouse I bumped into a friend and had a lovely gossipy catch-up.
4) Also while in the charity warehouse I found a couple of great bargains for the grandchildren - a fabulous Prestige child-sized all metal 20-piece baking set for the three-year-old’s play kitchen. Although I think it was old (the picture on the box looked very 1980s) it was sealed and brand new, for just £3. Also a very large box of K’Nex gears/rods/connectors etc for just £1. I will add this to the crate of K’Nex I keep at home for the eight- and six-year old grandchildren to play with whenever they visit, they really love the stuff.
5) Treated myself to a deep conditioning hair mask (I don’t think I have been eating properly for quite a few months now, and it’s taken its toll with flaking fingernails and hair like straw 😂). I still don’t feel like eating but am making more effort, have started taking some good multi vits and am sitting here with a cup of tea while the hair mask works its magic. I feel very self-indulgent, and it’s nice.6 -
1. Up on The Gallops in the sun. Good striding out weather.
2. Non-driving friend in Town of Gown has new roof to move to on Saturday. Will help tonight and after Ash Wednesday service for starters.
3. Finished what turns out to be Elly Griffiths' first Ruth Galloway book and will def. read the others.
Do you know them, Lainey? North Norfolk-y coastal and salt marsh locations - entirely recognisable. & had a tricky time in a tidal mud creek there years ago - and with seals.
4. Great baptismal service yesterday and an afternoon village gathering within 10 miles.
5. 🌟C-J, your perfect osp 1 words!👏
Let's have them again:
