I shall not use the J word again mhags ;-)
1) not awake quite so early as yesterday hooray
2) have a thesis to mark so went into work - blissfully peaceful
3) lunchtime colleague who I went to Thailand with popped in so we could record a happy new year message for our friends in Thailand
4) call from gbf who is now in Edinburgh though fireworks cancelled. He will get to catch up with DD1 :-)
5) mennies which closed at 10:30 - got a lift home from MrsG who was in with MrG - the others were going onto the Orwell but I am still getting my clock sorted from Thai time. And now I'm in bed, spaniels in their bed next to mine. doubt if i'll manage to stay awake 55 minutes so will wish everyone a HNY and turn the light off.

Will try and catch-up post tomorrow. So many have disappeared, both disheartening and infuriating.
For now, very best wishes for a brand New Year, with the increasingly chilly wind blustery and rising.....
If it hoovers up the muck of 2024, tant mieux.😄🫶🤞
All blessings from me, at Twickenham last Saturday, thanks to another young🏉friend, a retired British Army Major, then church next day.

Pleasures for today (New Years Eve and Tuesday)
Happy New Year, everyone!
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Tidied up vaguely then went to Waitrose for a pot of tea. YS custard and some 50p mince pies.
3) Cooked! Made a pear and frangipane tart then had some mixture left so turned that into a sort of posh pear sponge cake. Also made a butternut squash pie (like pumpkin pie).
4) Popped to Sainsburys with smaller son.
5) My brother came round at 7 and I cooked shakshuka then we had the puddings listed above.
6) We played on the Wii for a bit and watched some television and had a game of chess.
7) Hundreds of fireworks let off (a few still going) in every direction.6 -
Happy New Year to all 🎉
For yesterday,
A lazyish start to the day.
A few jobs done in the morning, filled in a new calendar ahead of changing it over, I still like a physical one to hang up in the kitchen.
Got a quote for horse insurance as current provider had once again increased by 20%, new quote is nearly 100% cheaper than proposed payments.
Lovely lunch out with my beloved, one of our favourite pubs and a real treat.
A quiet evening and we were in bed by 10pm, reading our books. How very rock & roll 🤣8 -
Happy New Year Everyone 🥂
We had a lovely Twixmas. Revisited Blenheim at Christmas 🎄, enjoyed it all over again! OH went on the big wheel but I chickened out at the last minute 🤣 we stayed 2 nights at nearby Travelodge and took a mini Christmas 🎄 tree and chocolates with us. Two lovely pub meals out. Visited new to us villages including lovely Chipping Camden and went to Greys Court, a lovely NT house on the way home.
Yesterday I rescued the turkey crown carcass from the freezer and made turkey and veg soup and turkey and veg pie for dinner, both very yum 😋. A few glasses of wine 🍷 and a glass of port and in bed at 9.30. Was woken up by the hundreds of fireworks and very loud bangs but didn’t bother to get up. Watched a very daft but amusing Indiana Jones film and the Split.
We will have leftover turkey dinner and all the trimmings today and a few glasses of wine 🍷 and another early night. OH back to work tomorrow, still doesn’t know if his request to go down to 3 days a week has been agreed!Have a good day 😊8 -
Hello
Happy New Year one and all.
I went to bed but was woken up by blooming fireworks and an absolutely terrified dog. So had to try and keep him calm for thirty minutes as they just boomed and boomed.Anyway up usual schmusual time then dozed off again.Put meat in slow cooker for the steak pie.Went down to CP for a wander with doggy and DD1, was a wee bit sleety.
Much, much colder than it’s been.
Log burner on when we came home.
Set the table and put the dinner on and DD2 called to say she really wasn’t feeling well…DD1 has had a lurgy but DD2 gets absolutely floored with viruses so once dinner was cooked we jumped in the car ( with a dog so he didn’t try and eat anything here) with a platter of food for them plus their crackers! And dropped it at theirs ( 2 minutes up the road in the car!)We had steak pie ( with a pastry kangaroo on top!…I’d got a kangaroo and a Tasmanian Devil cookie cutter for Christmas) DD2 got the kangaroo. With roast potatoes, parsnips and carrots and cauliflower cheese
Just had cranberry and apple crumble which was very yummy! So just the two of us for Ne’er Day dinner.Sitting blethering in front of the fire.8 -
goodness I slept till 10! (minus one quick up for the boys at 6) - hoping that has now got rid of the jet lag!
1) 100 years of the shipping forecast and the programmes celebrating its birthday on radio 4
2) a very tasty pasta dish which also used up the last of the cream, chestnut mushrooms and shallots
3) starting my chocolate advent calendar from gbf - he asked what celebration happens 25th January - I replied the celebration of the empty advent calendar
4) Nutcracker with mum from the comfort of our sitting room
5) SAS rogue heroes season 2MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pleasures for today (New Years Day and Wednesday)
1) Slept until about 10am.
2) Got house back to normal.
3) Went to the football. We lost 0-1. No longer top of the league.
4) My brother came to the football with us for the first time.
5) Cooked my 50p posh turkey flat fillet things for tea, like you get lemon chicken from the Chinese takeaway. Had those with noodles.
6) Watched The Traitors.7 -
