For yesterday,
A better night sleep wise and woke up feeling refreshed.
Introduced more twinkle to the cottage, lights hung in the hearth and many other favourite bits all collected over the years were put out, will leave the tree until the weekend when Capt S can do it too.
Long chat with my bf and arrangements made to meet another pal next week.
At the stables, bitterly cold wind blowing out in the fields which made my eyes water but my girlie was snug in her warm rug.
Treat for tea, Dijon salmon with enough leftovers for lunch today.

Morning all.
DDoll - you sound to be having a wonderful time, I think you win the prize of 'Top Pleasures of the Week' with your last post, sounds delightful.
My week is perhaps not going quite so well, it's turning into a tough old month but, as always, there are pleasures:
1) Another walk with my lad yesterday and just as I was thinking some of my stamina was returning I tripped and fell flat. Ouch! Thankfully nothing broken (a big pleasure at my age) and thankfully my bairn is very strong so he managed to heave me up and get me sat on a garden wall to get my breath back (definitely another pleasure as I don't think I could have got up on my own). He wanted to go for the car but I didn't want to stiffen up so hobbled home. Bit stiff and sore today with two lovely swollen red and purple knees but in one piece and that too is a pleasure.
2) Hanging baubles from my first Christmas on the tree, bringing with them such happy memories of childhood Christmases and how my mum and dad loved this season so much.
3) Present giving is much reduced these days so no pressure to charge round the shops frantically buying. We will be assisting with Christmas dinner rather than being the main providers; I am in charge of setting the table, Christmas crackers, the pudding and the mulled wine. The pleasure is that we can enjoy the Christmas season without all the pressure and in a more relaxed way.
4) Watched 'The Way we Were' - one of my favourite films ever. Oh Katie! Oh Hubbell! Always hope for a different ending but not to be.....wonderful all the same and oooh, that song!
5) Yummy tagine with couscous for tea. Tweaked it with my new find of date and tamarind paste, mmmm.
So, a 'steady away' day planned for today with both feet firmly planted at all times. May venture out to buy the Christmas pud and that'll be today's excitement.
Have a good day whatever you are up to.7 -
Rules are there too bee broken!
I know, it is like the number 6 bus! You weight ages for one and suddenly too come together!
Hope all the parishioners are in good health.
I has bin to busy at the Docks inn recent times to even get a word inn hear edgeways, so I fort a little catch up wood do you lot a nice cheer! Still making hay! Kerching!
Chloe, who replaced Kitty has taken over and has the spirit of old master Raffles! She is an empress her self! She has treat sticks everyday from her dad!
Jenny is hanging inn like she has a second life, though the 6 weakly visit to the quack centre is cursing BoPise to loose her finger nails! it hurts them moor then it does affect the Admiral.

PS I nought that these days the scam callers about my £600 transaction cut me off instead of ...
I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!8 -
Bop, Sounds like Chloe will have a wonderful first Christmas with you.
1 For today up and at them so to speak, animal areas deep cleaned,
2 More “dread tidying” completed, by making a big donation of animal food and bedding, and a food bank donation. Just waiting to find someone who wants a microwave and smellies, might be the local refuge. Also got things together for the tip run including an old VCR, looked it up on ebay and someone has the nerve to try and sell my vintage model for £55, but none have sold, and our one is rather scratched scruffy vintage.
4 Severely grumpy doctors’ receptionist, just about managed to book me in, I even went in face to face as I knew there was no chance on the phone!
5 Aldi, people are noticeably not buying their milk now, but we did get various bits and Christmas nibbles, I keep getting bits for a Christmas cheese platter and eating the bits separately.
6 The Christmas decorations have come down from the loft.
7 We watched the Black Doves series on Netflix, and I think we liked it, it certainly had us tense.

Hello
Up early.Had sad news late last night that a lovely friend had died. Such a shock to everyone.Had vets early so had to go out and scrape the car. Got there in good time just missed the rush hour .
Review of eye , still ulcerated but not any worse. Given painkillers. To continue eye drops. And hat wearing! he’s currently got it off under supervision to allow for schnookying.
went to charity shop down other end of town. Got a lovely jumper and a linen top and a wee snowman !Oh and a box of big Christmas crackers ! Then on the way out I saw a picture of 2 boxing hares that will be nice in my caravan so put stuff in car and went back in for it…however was slightly waylaid when I met a friend and had a quick catch up!
And home. Found my heated rollers ( first Christmas married gift from my husband) and heated ‘em up! Then off out for lunch with friends.
Parked outside DD2 work so popped in to say hello.Lovely lunch. Had such a lovely catch up. Food was great and service was excellent.
And home…friend had been round whilst I was out so popped back round to see her. Nice chatter. Then home in fog! ( walking)
Had leftover pie and veg for tea.DD2 popped in briefly to pick up her parcel that she just missed by 5 minutes yesterday! And just about to do last eye drops and I’m heading to bed!9 -
I'm sorry to hear about your friend, MHags.
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Another poor sleep. A shock when the alarm went off but I had somewhere to be...
2) Went to a candle making workshop! I made 4 altogether. It was in a church and the parishioners were having their coffee morning at the back (it is weekly) but we were allowed to go to their "stall" to buy tea and biscuits. There was a very formal and proper lady serving the tea. Me and other candle lady were looking for something (the bin, I think!) and candle lady said, "We're not churchgoers". Quick as a wink, tea lady said very seriously, "Oh yes, we can tell..." We looked a bit stunned then she said, "We just know..." then she burst out laughing and said, "No, we don't know!" and we laughed for ages.
3) I have been invited to another free workshop next Monday, doing art in another church!
4) Went to Waitrose and felt extremely tired and just settled in my chair with a pot of tea.
5) Tidied up during the afternoon. Cleaned the cat tray and bowls thoroughly, tidied up cat food empty sachets that had taken off down the garden, sorted washing etc.
6) Spoke to my brother who will get a voucher for bigger son and his girlfriend. Bigger son is learning Spanish and there is nothing Spanish at all locally. (In fact, I don't know a single Spanish person). So the voucher is for the Colombian restaurant which is very nice and they cheerfully speak Spanish to every English person who tries a little bit.
7) Not in chronological order at all now, but the window cleaners came to do the outsides.
8) Played smaller son's motor racing game as he has a proper wheel and pedals.
9) Made YS venison burgers for tea with hm chunky chips.
10) Watched 3 episodes in a row of 24 Hours in Police Custody. I think it is excellent, but 3 hours makes you melancholy!7 -
So sad about your friend Mhags x
For yesterday,
Bit of sloggus domesticus first thing with bathrooms cleaned and upstairs gone through, as always the pleasure is only when done.
Met my bf for lunch, exchange of gifts and a catch up on news.
Had messaged the yard to bring girlie in for me so a rare afternoon at home, twinkly lights on, cuppa on the side and my book in hand, bliss.
Tasty tea of pork and sweet potato casserole, one of those great recipes that just do their own thing for an hour or so.
Last in the Shetland series, now I loved Jimmy Perez and was sceptical at first but am now really enjoying the dynamic between Ruth and Tosh.4 -
Hello again.
mhagster - so sorry to hear the news about your friend and totally understand the sense of shock, so near to Christmas too.
I heard yesterday that my friend's funeral will be on 27th December.
Recent pleasures:
1) My black and blue knees are improving and feeling less like mini water beds. I'm under strict orders to stop throwing myself onto the ground with gay abandon.
2) A quick shop, bought the minimum of veg as it will be 'on offer' next week so will stock up then.
3) Plans made for an overnight stay with my brother and SIL next week and a visit to a stately home to see the Christmas decs and have a cream tea.
4) Pleasure 3) fits in nicely with swinging by afterwards to bring eldest grandson home for the holidays. He'll want to bring a load of stuff home so couldn't manage on the train and we will be pretty nearby. A big pleasure is having everyone tucked up safely where they need to be for Christmas.
5) Going to the hairdresser is far from a pleasure but I'm looking forward to Sarurday's appointment, the pleasure being I will come out looking as if I have no grey hair whereas in reality I seem to have more that ever! Such vanity but not quite ready to give in yet.
Happy Thursday everyone.

hugs mhags over the loss of your friend
yesterday was a very long day as things are kicking off back home (see University of Dundee Principal resigns)
1) 8am talk went very well - after total disaster Sunday with menti (voting software, slots nicely into powerpoint and attendees log on and it makes the talk more interactive. if it works. which it didn't. This time I was a human menti for my colleague :-)
2) then off to another medical school - we started with lunch including bamboo mushrooms - loving the variety of food
3) workshop and we did a human likert (people lining against a wall with one end being 'totally self directed' and other 'not at all' - good addition
4) then coffee in the medical school coffee shop and we got whamaggedoned. if you're going to get #whammed you might as well do it in style!
5) back to the hotel, difficult meeting with team online then the most wonderful massage - despite all that is kicking off back home i had the best sleep
and for today
1) off to singapore. medical school we did the w/e conference talks kindly sent us their van to take us to the airport - fortunately my colleague, who has an excellent sense of direction and has been before, realised 30 mins in we were headed for the wrong airport. Neither driver nor assistant spoke English nor did they recognise the name of the airport we wanted in the English alphabet! Fortunately the assistant thought to phone base and get someone who did speak English and we were able to divert. Also fortunately, my colleague is like me - we had left with plenty of time in case of emergencies
2) then a very smooth journey through and i read my book and had the santa special for lunch (spicy chicken and spinach with rice)
3) my colleague who is totally fabulous then successfully downloaded Grab (akin to uber), linked it to her bank card that she front loads and doesn't charge transfer rate and ordered a car - i am in awe
4) we arrived at her former phd supervisor's condo and had champagne on the balcony (we'd stopped in duty free for champagne and wine as both are fiendishly expensive in Singapore and she is very kindly putting us both up for 3 nights)
5) then a very nice supper of aubergine and paneer in a lentil sauceMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
