Highdays big hug sent to you. Take care x
Up early and sat at my table writing service number four this week at 7am
Did some gardening today. The frost had killed lots in my herb garden and all the remaining geraniums. It was about 11o so actually was pleasant being out in garden.Washing out and almost dried. The robin was having a proper feather fluffing bath this afternoon! Was nice to watch how earnest he was about getting clean.Chat to niece this morning which was nice. She’s been on a long work stretch so was nice to catch up and make some festive plans.
Long story short but had a pup for a couple of hours then walked him back home.Had takeaway for tea with DD2.
Candles lit, lamps on and faux flames on the electric stove. It all looks cosy though I’ve just switched the heating back off.10 -
Oh, Highdays, oh, dash it.
Hugs HWBs etc8 -
Highdays, I’m so sorry.
Good grief, the washing machine had some sort of breakdown when it tried to dance across the floor last night, with the animals we use the machine every day for all sorts, so today we took it out and assumed it had shaken something off, duly found and re attached, it then started re booting itself all the time, DH got it onto a short programme to run it when, what happened should not have been able to happen, while full of water it released the door and flooded on through. Que hours of clearing water, taking of kick boards, vaxes running cleaner kitchen than ever, and now the de humidifier is going.
1 Err the kitchen is cleaner than when it was fitted… and nearly dry, but at the moment we don’t have a working freezer, but do have other freezers or a working washing machine. Well fine, I wanted a break.
2 A very easy dinner of freezer to oven pizza slices, and I’m very sure there will be more comfort food.
3 I did manage to sort through a pile of clothes, half staying, half going.
4 Managed to get a face pack done, so feeling presentable.

For yesterday,
A cup of tea in bed and an easy start.
Collected my new mini, I did pat the steering wheel of my old one as I got out for the last time as, despite costing me quite a bit in the last couple of years, he didn’t actually break down on me and leave me stranded so only right that I said thank you.
The new one is very swish and drives beautifully, after having a bad car accident in my teens I didn’t pass my test until I was in my 30’s and have never quite over the thrill & independence of being able to drive.Over to the yard and saw that a friend was teaching there so we had a good catch up after she finished the lesson. We are both ladies of a certain age and laughed about our various aches & pains but how we hoped to still be hobbling around after horses in the years to come.
The treat of a Chinese takeaway and the next episode of Moonflower Murders.8 -
Adding my hugs and condolences highdays
Epic post dfv - I love peaches
For Friday
1) beautiful clear still day so a trip over the Thames on the cable car, my first - wonderful views and, as work day, no crowds
2) then dlf (and yes I did sit at the front) to Mudshute Farm where we met up with DD2
3) back under the foot tunnel at Greenwich (another first for me) and walked back - step count has been very good this week! quick change then the four of us (gbf, DD2 and Dd2's bf) horribly busy tube to
4) early supper at Bella Italia which came to pretty much the same as the refund I got on the two train tickets
5) then an early and extraordinarily generous Christmas gift from gbf - my very first trip to Royal Covent Garden to see Tosca. Very fitting way to remember Puccini 100 years to the day from his death (confess didn't find that out till after!)
And for Saturday - Happy St Andrews Day mhags
1) train at 10:30 from Euston (East Coast shut for engineering works) - gbf staying on at hotel nearby so kindly came with me to the station
2) The 2 people with seat booked for Euston to Berwick didn't turn up so just two of us shared a table for 4 and I got half of my talk for Saturday written and the rest planned
3) had packed a flask and sandwiches for lunch then gave up my forward facing seat for new passenger later who didn't like travelling backwards - she didn't want to take home her 1/3 eaten large pack of crisps so guess what I had for leg 2 of the journey :-) bought a flask refill of coffee at Glasgow Queens - much emptier train, table to myself, another 1/4 of my talk written
4) bus home and who should get on at Sainsbury's but DrM so very very quick catch-up
5) then a long soak in the bath while listening to Puccini on Radio 3 (when i learned about his death date)MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
