I'm sorry to hear your sad news, @Highdays
Pleasures for yesterday (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Cleaned the bathroom and tidied up.
3) Exciting afternoon! We took my dad to his first football match, for his 80th birthday. We only lost him twice (he has bigger son's complete inability to follow directions) but found him again. We had seats rather than standing and took a flask of tea. The announcer said happy birthday to him at half time! And we won 1-0.
4) Had tea (brisket) at my parents' house.
5) Watched a bit of television.
6) Texted a friend on and off until bedtime.7 -
Lainey, you've reminded me I want to try the Moonflower Murders. All is not so good at chez ferrets, antibiotics were thought to have worked but whatever they have is back, so back again next week, we will be taking out vet plans tomorrow, a first for us, but I can truly say it’s been a rather exceptional year for vet costs, and they still would have been as so much wouldn’t have been covered, but this particular plan has a lot of promise so we will give it a go for a year.
1 First of December and the tv, emails etc have let Christmas in, having watched the abominable snowman already and now The Holiday is on also…..I mean I didn’t have to watch them but…..
2 I did a HM burger, with jalapeños, mozzarella sticks and onion rings for tea, and DH is asking for garlic baguette, I think that will be later.
3 Ohhh, very pleased DH was able to take the washing machine apart and repair it’s working and continually in use today, he machined the part needed. Today he has set his sights on the fridge/freezer sensor, I’m thankful he’s got the talent to save us pennies. I am very aware it would have been more appliances in most cases.
4 I found some clothes that I may have not remembered about.
5 There is now a dangerously balanced pile of clean stuff that I am not putting in the front room - until I have cleared it, so tomorrow I must do it. Yikes there is a lot to do. Not least of which is dig down to the bed, wash the covers as no one has stayed in over in over a year now, when we move, I’m not having a spare bed, it’s going to be a futon type thing. A sofa would be so much more useful in there.

Hello.Up early and out for a nice dog walk. Just us and the birds and always that bit quieter on a Sunday.
Then home to FaceTime Australia and make mince pies with DD2 our annual tradition. Had a lovely chatter with her.
oh hello pup. It’s you again!Dragged Christmas stuff in from garage. Took my time over the day but it’s up. Always an assault on emotions.8 -

Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep but an early start.
2) Worked from 8-2 and that went OK. I was doing hot food today so there are one hundred things that can go wrong.
3) Bigger son came round on his new bike at 2.30 to collect his and his girlfriend's Advent calendars.
4) Smaller son and I found our dinners in the freezer (previous batch cooks) so he had chicken tikka and I had pasta with courgette and chorizo!
5) Made some Millies Cookies recipe cookies but with added stem ginger.
6) Watched I'm a Celebrity.7 -
Lovely photo Amps and good to hear from you.
For yesterday,
Small dog woke us up at 4am but was then happy to get back into her basket and sleep so we had a lie-in until 8.
Bacon butties and catching up on all things Ambridge, entertaining week.
Made a batch of mincemeat flapjack as I’d opened a jar to make pies, had plans to then get out in the garden but by then the rain was coming down so gave myself a day off ☺️A few Yule decorations are starting to creep in with the mantlepiece changed over to winter and some twinkly lights around the place.
Still too full after a big lunch so just a few bits of cheese and grapes for tea, swear I’m part mouse!7 -
Back up on The Gallops, trying and failing - so far - to reach oldest NZ schoolfriend as she needs, desperately. Did hear proper ringing 5 mins ago, so will stay here and try again later - a grim, grey sodden day.

1. Right now, a solitary chap keeping me company. Very fluffed up to keep out the cold. He's enjoyed bits of mincemeat crumble.
2. Just enjoyed my free emporium cappuccino. Thermos at hand for later.
3. Forgot my old lady lunettes after shower, but can still read, DG. Onward with Qiu Xialong's 'Red Mandarin Dress'. A marvellous and special writer, academic, survivor - all his Inspector Chen titles bear re-reading.
Highly recommended.
4. Back to Halfords, to speak to a manager in praise of young R, who was so good re:&'s smashed mirror last week. He arrived, was bashful, but I'm glad I returned in person to give my thanks, with 3 witnesses.🫶👏. All staff said Thankyou.🙂
5. Day started with Milton tip trip, 2 bags+cardboard, with usual help from super M,👍+👌. He's long wanted to move to NZ, as several from that workplace have done and love it. Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a superbly potted large casserole, a large Cole & Mason pestle and mortar, with 4 lovely fake eggs, 😀. All together, £3! & insisted it should be more, but No, said M. & delighted.

Lovely finds there &.
The test of the freezer repair was when DH hollered there appears to be ice cream completely melted on top of the freezer, from when I got the jalapeños out, so I tested it by err shaking it and putting it in the previously broken freezer, but neither of us fancy eating it now
1 I’ve been umming and ahhing over a couple of things and ended up buying some pet cleaning up solution cheaper than I can get it normally on an Amazon offer, and another “uncle johns” book for DH’s collection, a Christmas present.
2 I’ve downloaded our local garden centre app, and got DH to do it, and now we have a free tea or coffee each month, and a free bird block.
3 I started on the junk / front room. Why do we keep every pillow ever owned!!!, thrown 2, air sealed 2 and left 4 as making up the bed. We have a vast amount of animal bedding, and DH has got on board and is clearing out the caravan things that are up there, so I suspect this will be the week's project, but it’s started well. Loathe to do it but also threw out a large window net, fab quality but very ripped, I looked at making a smaller net out of it but every time I had enough material there was another rip, so its gone. But at t he moment the place is in that looking worse before better phase I suspect for a few days.
4 Marinaded pork chop, with greenery and rana gnocchi, turned into a bit of an odd tea actually,
5 Looking forward to reading and finishing off a book tonight.
