1) wore a christmas jumper and reindeer earrings
2) the tree was put up in the main foyer - beautiful
3) had a very nice tuna sandwich from the union shop
4) colleague gave me a bag of chocolate coins - they are packed
5) started to sort the office - found an RNLI advent calendar card unopened so taking that in my packing
This time tomorrow I'll be half way to Thailand so there may be a delay in postsMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Safe travels DD
For yesterday,
A grey, drizzly kind of a day but twinkly lights help.
Trip to the emporium, picked up my free packet of cinnamon biscuits which have been stashed away along with some dark choc ginger, very much a favourite of Capt S, for which I also had a voucher.
Finally caught up on Shetland, I’d missed more than I thought!
Time with my horse, the mud is getting quite bad now so my wellies got a wash along with her legs. Chat with yard owner.
Tea was rtc fish along with cauliflower cheese, then we tested our brains with UC.7 -
Safe travels DD we’ll look forward to hearing about your adventures.Actually not too early this morning! ( about 6.00am which is a lie in!)
Had some work prep to do. Then later got a call for another job. Thank you. But oooft!Stripped bedding. Cleaned fire. Hoovered. Washed floors. Took dog in car with me to supermarket and we went a walk from there. Then nipped into get snacks!Went to cinema with DD2… holy moly at the price of a ticket! And I did have meerkat movies buy one get one free but still Ooft! Went to see Wicked which was very good.Home via big supermarket for tights for work tomorrow. Absolutely lashing with rain.
Phoned new family to make arrangements to meet them.
Had heating on for a wee while but just filled my hot water bottle and came to bed to be cosy.9 -
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Played chess online and played the piano.
3) Went to floody town to just get my hair trimmed across the back for the barber (I'm growing it but the back is like a mullet while the sides try and catch up). She charged £5 to snip the back off, which was fine.
It was very surreal in the barbers because she was telling me something that just sounded like fantasy! We went to the window to look out and she said, "Look, that van has a computerised billboard. My daughter is on it". I thought she meant on the van, but no, she was literally on the billboard.
She said, "She works at the fish and chip shop", which was where the van was parked. "She has 25 million views on tiktok". This seemed unlikely. Anyway, it is all completely true. She and her colleague have done chip shop videos and she went viral and is now the face of Rimmel London! She is also studying to be a nurse and her mum (the barber) was so proud of her.
4) After that was the usual stupid rigmarole that is trying to get a repeat prescription. I have "asked" twice online. I went into the surgery today and was there for 30 minutes while they tried to work out what to do. I ended up in Boots (carpet town) where the pharmacist denied all knowledge of anything. I then phoned another branch of Boots who said my prescription had been sent to my branch of Boots and was waiting for me. Back to my Boots again, spoke to a different lady and was passed the bags. Pleasures is that has been done for another 3 months.
5) The same silliness trying to switch from First Direct to NatWest but I think that is done now.
6) Had some oatcakes from the freezer for lunch.
7) Walked into town and back this afternoon.
8) Took smaller son for fish and chips just now and a battered mince pie!9 -
For yesterday,
Awake early so sat up in bed and read the December chapter of this year’s Almanac.
Pushed the hoover around and disturbed slumbering spiders.
Popped out to the black & orange shop to pick up some mats for my new car.
With my pony, bit of liberty work over poles then a game of catch me if you can with her chasing me, breathless and laughing by the end.
Tasty tea of spicy chicken with apricots plus lemon couscous. Missed Bake-off ☹️ but watched a bit of football and caught up on HIGNFY.9 -
Morning all - just.
Still trying to do better.
Highdays, so sorry for your loss.
Pleasures for the last week or so
1. A good weekend away with friends. Didn't drag on too long, which is a bonus
2. ICT house is getting rebuilt - although there is still some destruction to come. Am currently awaiting the plasterer to come and, i think, let me down.
3. also enjoying I'm A celeb. What a smashing group of people. I'm rooting for Danny, but don't really mind who wins
4. Am cross with Duolingo for moving the goalposts, but still enjoy the learning. I'll just keep getting demoted, I guess.
5. good drives to and from ICT - enjoying my new SPotify subscription.
6. Hoping for a walk by the sea at some point today.
Have a great day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens8 -
the journey was blissfully uneventful and i'm now lying in bed listening to classicfm with my eyes shut so will need to correct any typos after. we're 7 hours ahead and got to the hotel about 2pm Thai time. We decided not to do an afternoon nap so i am totally ready for sleep! There is a huge christmas tree in the foyer and i have a small RNLI advent calendar with me (no chocolate) and a small christmas stocking i made years ago (that does have chocolate in = chocolate money)
1) the joy of an unexpected meeting - this time friends of a former sri lankan phd student on the airport bus at Doha - what were the chances?! (i remembered meeting one of them at the phd student's farewell party)
2) being in time to follow 2nd half of the leicester game - very satisfying win under their new manager
3) the pleasure of a shower after a long journey can never be overestimated
4) not having to leave the hotel first night for food - i did though have a very nice thai dish
5) the feeling of my legs starting to loosen up during a workout from my online gym (i have some no equipment ones for travel)MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Another night of sleeping right through ( I think) if only every night or even just more nights could be similar.
Work this morning. A lovely service for a lovely family.Popped into supermarket and met someone for whom I did a service a few weeks ago. Was lovely to see her and she was telling me all the lovely feedback they’d had afterwards about my service. But the first thing she said was can I give you a hug! Of course!Home and hello doggy.Chat to sister. A parcel she’d sent here had been delivered and thank goodness I was in before the pouring rain!Got prepped for work tomorrow and work on Friday…just trying to keep ahead of myself by being organised.
Put the log burner on.
Made mince and veggies for my tea.Friend called.8 -
DD have a fabulous time.
We are looking at supporting local for better quality milk, however in proper researching, while not comparable to supermarket milk, it is also easily 3 times the price, so not sustainable.
I lost the post by copying over something else my fault, so a briefer version.
1-5 For yesterday, DH sprung a surprise trip out, to lift our spirits, we ventured to Canterbury, pre ambled around the Christmas market, stopped in and purchased a shiny necklace with paw print on for Christmas stash, and stopped in at a café for a lunch, a lovely change of scenery that I hadn’t realised I needed but DH did. We also saw the fire crews working on the fire remnants in the high street, the crews looked shattered.
For today
1 The house is clean again; I was going to paint touch up the stairs but that’s still waiting to be done.
2 Their bedding and our bedding is clean again.
3 Cobbled together build your wraps for tea, when I went into the kitchen not knowing what to invent today
4 Ordered a diary insert as part of DH’s “usual” Christmas thing.
