Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Spelt bread with damson jam for breakfast.
3) Went to my parents' joint 80th birthday party.
4) Went to Waitrose.
5) Phoned my school friend.7 -
Hello again.
Well, it's certainly been a day of extreme weather!
Some pleasures:
1) Tucked up warm and cosy inside while the storm did its thing outside.
2) Still pretty much eating out of the freezer with the addition of fresh fruit and veg.
3) Got up at a more reasonable time this morning in spite of it being so dark outside I thought it was still night time!
4) Pottering around at home - oh, the luxury of 'normal life'.
5) Nice chat with one brother and will see the other one at the weekend, first time since his very positive treatment results so looking forward to a catch up.
Was falling asleep in front of the telly - yet again - so will head off to bed now. Hope you and yours are all safe, take care if you have to be out and about.7 -
Good morning. Wet and dark here but I think we were very lucky yesterday and missed the awful storm
Highdays - My word. It sounds as if you've been through an awful storm of your own. So glad you're back home and back here. Please be very gentle with yourself x
Mhagster - thank you for nudging Highdays back into the fold
DGS last home match before Christmas but I think we'll have to miss this one. DH is back for more treatment tomorrow so spending time today on a cold wet field doesn't seem like a good idea. Never mind. We'll start again in the new year.
Feeling a bit more hopeful about Christmas presents now after a chat with DH. At least we have a plan now!
Have started putting up fairy lights Not really as Christmas decorations, just to bring a bit of sparkle into the gloom. One set in a big plant in a dark corner looks lovely Think I'll see what else I can do.
Hoping everyone missed the worst of the storm. Keep safe out there
Happy Sunday everyone7 -
Saturday was spent very quietly. I’d went to bed early on Friday night as I didn’t feel quite right…which is the precursor to labyrinthitis. But it’s such a non-specific ‘just don’t feel right’ but woke up through the night with the world spinning. And I would have spent the day in bed but had to get up for someone dropping off desk…desk did not get dropped off ( to be fair our weather was foul and she did text me to update me) but I would have stayed in bed!Anyway spent the day on the sofa. A bit of dozing. A bit of watching. A bit of generally feeling blah.Went to bed at 6pm.This morning I’m much less dizzy but it leaves a kind of ‘drained’ feeling. Anyway up and out with the doggy at 5.45am and had a good walk. Thankful it was dry but it was very windy. I have work this afternoon so a slow morning and get myself together.Have a good Sunday…stir up Sunday if you’re stirring up!7

For yesterday,
Small dog slept through the night so a restful sleep was had by all.
We had breakfast out at the farm shop and paid a visit to butchers counter while we were there.
Over to see my pony, she was fine having a duvet day and having had 30 minutes in one of the turnout pens was happily munching her way through a large pile of hay. Helped yard manager with a couple of other horses and sorted through my feed bins to make sure that I’d got sufficient supplies to get through to the new year.
Home, made a loaf and just pottered the afternoon away.
Capt S enjoyed the 5.30 kick off football wise!6 -
Nice doggy walks.
Easy morning.
Hung a washing out! It was crazy windy but dry so made the most of it and it was almost dry when I brought it in.
Visited a really lovely family this afternoon and had lovely doggy cuddles!
Just waiting on desk getting dropped off.
Normally I start writing as soon as possible but I’m listening to my body and will have another early night. Work can wait till tomorrow morning.8 -
Rest up Mhags, it will all still be there tomorrow.6

Quick pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Woken by smaller son at 4 to say I'd left the car light on. Managed to get it started so had a little drive from 4-4.30 a.m.
2) Couldn't sleep after that then work from 8-12 so rather tired now!
3) Some bother at work because one person is a bit of a bully. It's all coming to light now. I did a slightly different task today.
4) Played chess online.
5) Watched I'm a Celebrity.7 -
A change of plans today when I went to the fridge and noticed it was slightly open and warm, ice had formed across the alarm wire and continued forming everywhere, until it pushed a drawer opening the door. Que a rather long day of unloading, cleaning – everywhere around it of 5 years’ worth of dust around and under it gathering – acquired 20p, and after a lot of elbow grease we now have a very clean fridge and freezer. DH took the sensors apart as it's not working as a freezer, but the fridge is. Thankfully, I had run it mainly down already, but it’s surprising how much space all the fridge contents take up in a not very big kitchen. Now it’s still not working. I mean it’s Black Friday “week” granted, but we’ve only ever bought second hand, and they’ve lasted well. DH is currently feeling defeated by “Miele parts” and as an engineer through and through is having none of it.
1 Cleared out some “stuff”, still a lot to plough on with tomorrow.
2 A comforting cheesy pasta bake for dinner, using up sausage, a slice of ham and a tiny bit of pork.
3 Had a soak in a bath as a few aches and pains.
4 Looking at preloved Fridge freezers, isn’t quite a pleasure.
5 I had “mentally” made plans for a family visit tomorrow, thankfully I didn’t voice them as apparently we have a vet visit, and family takes the whole day due to locations.

How frustrating PK!
For yesterday,
If anything it was windier than the day before so a day for hunkering down at home.
At one point a large gust pushed the swing seat into the hedge and turned over a very large pot with a Rhododendron in it, took both me and Capt S to right it again.
A roast for lunch, chicken with all the trimmings and small dog had her share too. Pudding was a mince pie and cream, my first of the year.
Reading our books, lamps on and the wind rattling around the cottage.
Our new favourite programme, Pub Walks with Bill Bailey had Paul Merton on, funny and made me want to walk the Jurassic Coast.
