Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep, though the young one was awake at 5 to try the new FIFA 24!
2) Off to the coffee morning at 10.30 including a tree planting in our park.
3) My brother came at lunchtime and brought the chainsaw and we took down the dead apple tree in the garden.
4) Spent the afternoon clearing up logs and branches plus tidying up generally.
5) Took smaller son out for a very short walk by the canal.
6) Made chicken tikka for today and tomorrow.
7) My school friend phoned.6 -

Great news about Fuse PKFor yesterday,
After a cloudy start the blessing of another beautiful early autumn day, we are squeezing all we can out of them before the colder stuff comes on Monday. Capt S had another day off so quite a leisurely start.
Spent the morning at the yard, girlie was laying down in her stable when I got there so did some chores and chatted to yard owner. After all that she was still snoozing but finally got up when I literally dangled a carrot under her nose! They will soon be changing to winter routine so out during the day & in at night, I will miss the daytime snoozes.
Reading my book, yet another telling of Greek mythology.
My beloved suggested going out for tea & cake at the farm shop, didn’t need asking twice ☺️The evening was mild so a wander around the garden while small dog had her last sniffs of the day and we heard an owl from across the road.6 -
Good news about Fuse, PK. You might remember that we always had ferrets growing up (on a farm) and I wouldn't mind getting an indoor one, when the old cat goes.
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) I had a job interview! 9.30. I'll say a few things here, to remind myself as I often look back on this thread to see what I was doing years ago. It was at Sainsburys (local one) and should have taken 30 minutes but we talked for just over an hour. My 2 prepared answers weren't used at all but I managed to answer everything sensibly and he took a lot of notes. I should hear next Wednesday.
3) Managed to get a tooth appointment for smaller son again for next week.
4) Sat in Waitrose cafe in a stupor after the interview but did do the prize crossword in the free paper. Also bought YS butternut squash (which will last for weeks), eggs etc.
5) Got home and weeded the left side strip of garden (more accessible now the apple tree has gone) and planted about 15 more strawberry plants from runners. Hacked a courgette plant back as they are so leafy and verdant that all they are doing is sending up blind flowers. I did found a marrow underneath so I will find a minced beef type of recipe for that in the week. I left one marrow on for Halloween.
6) Went to the football with smaller son. It was against our least favourite, leg-breaking team. It was a shambles today as we lost with a terrible own goal.
7) Will watch Strictly just now and have a hot water bottle ready!7 -
A sneaky one from yesterday, popped into b and m for litter pads, and picked up a rtc fleece for their bedding reduced to 2.50.
1 Remembered to do a line in the lotto.
2 Bird food out, various wash loads out.
3 Gave up o1 what I should have been doing inside, and relaxed in the garden with a cuppa and book couldn’t pass up the good weather.
4 Dinner was various bits from the freezer to oven, with using up bits of salad.
5 A couple of places offering free postage so took advantage of a couple of special bits from Lakeland, not exactly mse but very luxurious.

For yesterday, Mabon the autumn equinox,
Made a loaf and while it was proving we did a tidy up of the shed, all the hedge trimming and bigger tools were stashed away ready for next year.
We have lots of birds that come down to drink or bath in the various water features but rarely a wren, today we did and she braved a quick bath in the shallow dish. There is also a female blackbird with a slightly damaged wing that we saw as a fledgling and doubted would survive but she’s obviously living in our hedge. She’s easy to spot as has a white bit on the damaged part but seems to be ok hopping about and digging for worms in the grass.
With my horse, it was very warm in the sunshine so just a walk around the farm before turning out.
Farm shop snorkers for tea before settling down to watch the last of series 1 of The Chelsea Detective, have thoroughly enjoyed this and hope they release the second series soon.
It really felt like the last day of summer today with lots of warm sunshine and blue skies but from today it’s meant to change.6 -
Good morning. Bright here this morning and going for a swim in an hour…I know who even is this 😆
Anyway for Saturday…
Was up very early then managed to doze again and still up early with doggy. It’s so hard to gauge time now as it’s just dark o’clock.DD2 came over and we left dogs looking after each other and off we went…first of all to get her tyres checked. A blooming big nail in one of them! So that was sorted and then we headed to garden centre for a longer mooch round the Christmas stuff ( because it’s so pretty ) as the other day I had the doggy in the car and was just in and out. Anyway had a nice mooch with a few oohs and aaahs and DD2 said what’s your colour theme this year? Well…that kind of depends on where I’m living!Grabbed a take away scone then i almost required picking up off the floor as I was charged £4.99 for a cup of take away soup! That DD2 had asked for so I hadn’t checked out the price! Holy moly! And in writing that I have just made a pot of soup for this mornings after swim! Using up the veg I had in the fridge! For about 49p…if that!Anyway we had a 55 minute swim and it was really not warm enough not to swim! The pool is heated however obviously the fresh air around isn’t but as long as you ‘ just keep swimming’ it’s alright! Home via big pet shop for doggy food. Then she decided to stay for the afternoon which was nice. She was going to cinema with her friend early evening so just went from here as I had offered to puppy sit. It’s funny though as I’m used to the quietness of just me and she’s anything but quiet😆
Do have a lovely Sunday…hoping to get grass cut later. Maybe the second last cut of the season ( as I think I’ll have at least another one!)6 -
Is it an open air pool, mhags? I used to work near one, and used it each lunchtime, it was a great habit.
Well, there had to be a right that’s it everything out catalyst and we now have a few. We desperately need to purchase and lay a new floor in the lounge, which is one through room, to get on with his I need to pack up the “ornaments etc” into boxes, to have somewhere to put all of these out of the damp I need to clear the office, that’s fine it needs doing.
Yesterday I received a letter asking for something on dad, I have a file that contains all the last important paperwork, death certs, etc. Do you think I can find it anywhere – it doesn’t want to be found today is the conclusion I’ve come too. I will continue tomorrow.
1 I ordered in a Chinese, the first in a very long time, and we had accumulated £10 off from loyalty points, perfect. There are enough leftovers for lunch tomorrow, and dinner, as we didn’t manage a lot of it.
2 Watched a programme trying to make out that Kent is the perfect place still working on steam is the impression it gave. It made me curious when they tried to claim there were otters in the river through Canterbury!
3 Birds on the feeders, and re stocking it for them.
4 Purchased a “humble bundle” to refresh my work skills, data analysis, reporting etc, pleased to have picked it up on sale.
Saving 5.
