I'm sorry to hear about Truffle. PK. I still remember all the different ferrets we had growing up. They are such characters.
Pleasures for today (Saturday) A funny sort of day...
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Took a bag of stuff back to MrM. I have not seen or heard from him in 4 weeks. I left it in his porch so was then filled with guilt that it will get stolen (not worth much but that isn't the point) as I don't know where he is or if he is away on holiday.
3) I was actually quite stressed doing 2) but I remembered there is a new cafe a few streets away in an old shipping container. I had a small cooked breakfast there.
4) Went to a new salvage yard/antique shop that I had been meaning to go to for ages. No glass light shades, though.
Let's gloss over the next bit. On the way to Waitrose I got stuck in traffic and MrU walked past my car. The absolute horror. I did think for a minute that I was going to have a heart attack. Absolutely horrendous to see him and remember that the last time I saw him, in March, I thought we were going to get married. He looked the same (of course!) but incredibly pale. I am 99% sure he didn't see me but he loped on by and then I drove on.
5) Very relieved to make it to Waitrose and have a pot of tea! I bought birthday cards for the 3 upcoming family birthdays.
6) I made cheese and ham toasties for smaller son and me then we watched the live stream of our football team playing the first match of the season. They won 2-0 !
7) I cleaned the car. I haven't done that for years.
8) My proper orchid compost arrived so I repotted 2 orchids.
9) I phoned my school friend.

R.I.P. Truffle. You were a very loved ferret. Take it easy @Purple_kitten. Many ((((hugs)))). It really does tear at your heart strings when a much loved pet passes on.9

So sorry to hear about little Truffle PK, he had the best life with you x
For yesterday,
Capt S got up early and took small dog downstairs with him so I had a bit of a lie-in.
Busy morning, I made a loaf and a batch of sultanas scones then helped beloved in the garden. Our water feature, an imitation millstone type thing, broke the back end of last year so we took it apart to see what we could do. Now we have just the bottom part working with water and the top part put in another part of the garden where I’m going to plant something inside to spill out and down the sides.
Over to see my equine pal, she is getting a bit of a summer belly so did some fast aerobic lunge work and at times I trotted alongside so perhaps that will help my belly too ha ha! Then she had a nice cool bath before being turned out, I picked her a few blackberries as a treat then sat with her while she grazed around me.
Home and we had scones with cream & jam so perhaps it was a good thing I’d done some running 🙈
Gentle meander with small dog and then home, didn’t fancy much for tea so I just made hotdogs with coleslaw.7 -
I have a summer belly too lainey…it’s actually a four season one!
Anyway up early. Did my ironing. Did my printing for work on Tuesday.
Then jumped in car and off we went. A-caravanning.Did a quick dog walk there. It was so peaceful. Not a sound other than the birds. Then we went to favourite garden centre and I ran in to get a takeaway cheese scone! Then back to caravan
Cleaned the fridge. Oh my goodness! But it’s now clean! Thought I may have to chuck it out but it’s had a thorough clean!
Started a new library book which I’m sitting reading just now. Almost finished.Met my new neighbours! And a final doggy walk and then home. Was nice to come home…I felt like I’d been away and done something. I have a bit of purpose which has been very lacking for almost 21 weeks! How blooming ridiculous is that! It’s been a lovely afternoon. I was going to sit outside but I’ve just had the patio doors all open and letting the warmth in.8 -
Touch wood, Truffles crew seem to be coping.
Does anyone else find selling things on fb like literally pulling teeth? We have some puppy and cat food, all in date by a year, I thought I would sell it on for Fuses operation funds, at say two thirds of the price, good grief so many absolute time wasters – I don’t understand it.
Mhags, is it a static home, I’m just nosey?
1 A change of food plan to spend less time cooking, it was a simple chicken pasta dish, using up veg, chicken and a slice of cooked bacon from this morning.
2 Some washing loads both in and out on the line.
3 A WhatsApp chat with DB.
4 Checked in on MIL & FIL just by text.
5 I had a nosey around the Joe Browns new collection as it would be nice to have a couple of winter dresses, er and a jumper and and and

PK yep a static van on a nice quiet site in the countryside . Not too far away as I don’t enjoy driving particularly but a whole different environment from where I currently live.

Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep but another very long and stressful dream.
2) Got the washing dried on the line. Very hot today.
3) Cleaned the inside of the car out. I'll have to do the windscreen inside again as it has a weird sort of bloom over it.
4) Cooked some chicken so we had chicken and stuffing sandwiches for lunch.
5) Watched bits of the Olympics and am still watching the closing ceremony.
6) Have found another 1960s glass lampshade on FB marketplace so am planning a trip to that city and the Kurdish supermarket while I am there.6 -
Good morning. Big black cloud here! But warm already
D Doll - Congratulations! Belated, I'm sorry, but heartfelt nonetheless.
P Kitten - so sorry to hear about Truffles. X
Sciatica continues. Gosh, it's hard work. But some pleasures still.
Found an oak sapling in the garden. Presumably the acorn was a gift from a squurrel. Have dug it up and put it in a pot while I think what to do. Our garden isn't really big enough for an oak tree!
Being ruthless and admitting there are some clothes I will never wear again. Got a hefty charity bag ready to go
Found some anti-sciatica exercises on YouTube and doing them regularly. Not sure if it's working but I like to think I'm doing something to help.
Lovely weather for sitting in the garden
Happy 🌞 day everyone

Hope you are feeling better soon HappyCas
For yesterday
Awful night with small dog very restless, gave up in the end and we came down at 4 leaving beloved snoozing upstairs, well one of us might as well and she wouldn’t settle without her Mum.
Bacon butties and catching up on all things Ambridge, oh George ☹️Fed and watered the veggie patch while it was still in the shade, all the time smiling at the succession of birds that came down to bathe in the new facilities.
Rest of the day was spent relaxing & reading, food wise we just grazed on picky bits as very warm and the cook went on strike!
We did have a whole gang of dragonflies turn up at one point, about six of really quite big ones, perhaps we had the right kind of flies.6 -
Morning all.
Not been around much recently but have been reading along and keeping up with you all. The ups and downs of life are all here....
Some recent pleasures:
1) Lovely afternoon sat in the sunshine yesterday at a band concert. Feeling very emotional at the mo (memories of mum and dad, just hate anniversaries) so was thankful for sunglasses to disguise the 'runny eyes' when they played some of the oldies' favourites.
2) Son is on his way home today from the wedding in Cyprus. They've had a great time but now have temperatures nudging into the very high 30s and I think he's ready for home. Lovely photos of the wedding, sunset with the sea in the background, very romantic.
3) Grandson's friend stayed for tea, one of my 'legendary' crumbles was requested and friend voted it the best he'd ever had. Aww!
4) Sister goes back to hospital for more treatment today, definitely not a pleasure for her but hopefully a step nearer to her being sorted.
5) Another not a pleasure but I am at the hairdresser's today, not my favourite thing but out of shape summer hair with grey roots isn't a pleasure either. The pleasure will be when it's done.
A busy week to look forward to and we take littlest fella off for a couple of days at the end of the week for his boat trip, he tells us he's been looking forward to it for AGES! Hope you have a good week, make the most of the sunshine if you get any where you are.
