Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Made a birthday cake for smaller son.
3) All my family members popped in to say happy birthday.
4) The sparklers for the cake were appreciated.
5) Watched bits of the Olympics.5 -
@Frith - Wishing "smaller son" a happy birthday. I remember when he was just starting his teens and all the problems you were having with his education. Hope things are really special now.5

For yesterday,
Rubbish nights sleep so it was a pleasure to get up and have a cuppa.
Long bath and then gave myself a pedicure.
Time in the garden and sorted through one of the containers that we’ve grown potatoes in, like a lucky dip for adults ☺️ Decent harvest for a second crop ( Charlotte variety ) and we still have the main bed to go. Fresh new pots with lunch.
More reading and an afternoon snooze for all three of us.
Gentle meander under the beech trees, no more field walks for small dog but she enjoys all the sniffs found out & about.5 -
A day of so much blooming rain!Up early.
Pottered about again this morning. Hoovered. Cleaned bathrooms. Fixed a door handle that just needed a new screw.DD2 had a half day so she picked me up and I went and bought a caravan! Should get keys by weekend needs a freshen up and some fresh air but it will be my bolt hole and in a beautiful countryside setting and only 10 minutes from beach. Been wanting somewhere for a good few years but I hate driving! So we found this place recently.Bit of work admin and a change of plans for this week.HUGE email from solicitors…sigh, sigh, sigh. My house to be is not to be my house. They are withdrawing from my purchase which I was rather expecting. And absolutely zero movement at the bottom of the chain. You could not have made any of this up. I emailed estate agent this morning to ask them to remove the sign that’s been on my front lawn for 20 weeks tomorrow. I am so over it! And it hardly advertises their business well ( not that it’s their fault) that I’m still in my blooming house 20 weeks on. It is the fault of a blooming selfish person who pulled out weeks ago. Anyway I ended up calling and chatting to solicitor who is so very nice.Chats to sister and niece.
And healthy eating be damned…had a bag of chips! What my emotions needed!
And of course tomorrow is another day…thank goodness…though not every day you buy a caravan! ( I have always loved caravans )9 -
1 We made the effort to get away for the weekend a couple of hours drive away from here, and had a wonderful time at the steam fair
2 The ferrets love being in the caravan, they see it as we are in the cage with them, and the ill one came on leaps and bounds on rugs on the floor, we’ve just got back and popped rugs down on the floor to help him while he needs it.
3 Lovely people which also made it a lovely steam fair.
4 We treated ourselves to lunch each day of a chicken, bacon and leek pasty which was tasty, as you can see the ferrets approved.
5 We are safely back, washing loads on the line, but the bad health we tried to keep at bay has said, right you’re home and here we go. On that note, I’ve ordered in our usual local takeaway, a kind of tradition whenever we return from a breakaway.

What a palaver, MHags.
Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Thanks to advice on this forum, managed to take my patio door lock apart and turn the catch part round so you can now lock and unlock from inside the house (rather than have to stand in the garden to lock the door then walk in through the garage!) Cleaned it all out and a bit of WD40 got it working better than it had originally.
3) Mowed 2 lawns.
4) Cleaned the garage window which I hadn't done since moving and quite possibly no one had ever done since it was built...
5) Listed one shirt on Ebay.
6) HM soup from the freezer for lunch with bread given out locally for free the other day. Spanish chicken from the freezer and rice for tea.
7) Watched bits of the Olympics.
8) Repotted a couple of indoor plants.7 -
Good morning. Looks a bit damp out there.
Mhagster - boo to house kerfuffle. But hooray to caravan. There's something so right about a caravan. I loved ours.
Ouch. Sciatica flare up. It's such a painful pain it seems to take over. Walking gently does ease it but I do have to stop sometime. Sitting is bad and getting up is worse. Oh well. I know it will go eventually. I do have some exercises to do but they're not working yet!
In better news my avocado stone has sent up a shoot. It's about 3" long but it's in a pot in the garden and one of the leaves has been nibbled. I suppose it's an exotic treat for some pest or other! So today's task is to repot and bring it inside.
Managing to do holiday washing but today's damp might slow that down. But I'm not needing sundresses at the moment anyway.
Happy damp day everyone

Gggrr to house shenanigans Mhags, enjoy the caravan.
For yesterday,
Watching a tiny bluet*t having a bath from the kitchen window.
Our first HG tomato of the year, of the cherry variety but I cut it in half for us both to have a taste.
Warm and very muggy over at the yard so just gave my girlie a good groom before turning out, had a look in her hedge and there were a couple of ripe blackberries so she had those as well as the apple in my pocket.
Another afternoon nap as still tired from night before.
Capt S had a late meeting so tea was a quick stir-fry so very healthy, followed by a choc-ice which wasn’t!

Morning all.
Mhagster - so annoyed for you re house but very excited about your caravan! We had one when my lad was younger and loved it. I sometimes went to just sit in when it was parked up at home and it felt like a little holiday afternoon!!!
Some pleasures:
1) Son & party arrived safely in Paphos for stepson's wedding, tracked his plane, they left 15mins early and arrived half an hour ahead of schedule.
2) Sister sent me a wonderful big bunch of amazing sunflowers, very funky (flowers, not sister).
3) Had a laugh with my brothers on WhatsApp yesterday - one was at the Dr's surgery with what he thought was gout, one was cleaning the oven and we were buying new loo brushes. Oh the glamour!
4) A parcel of new-to-me books arrived in the post, so many books so little time but did have a good read in the sun in the afternoon followed by a little sleepette and then another read. Lovely.
5) Sat with a coffee now, deciding what to do/where to go today or whether just to have a lazy home day. Art galleries and street food beckon but so does my summerhouse and crafty stuff. Hmmm....
Will have a chat with hubby and decide what to do. Enjoy your day.6 -
Hello. Rain has just started after being dry all day! Currently lashing! We literally had about 36 hours of rain so it was nice to have a dry day today.
Up early, did doggy stuff then dozed off and woke when DD2 called me on her way to work…was mid dream when she called. Having so many dreams with mum and dad in them. I’m an adult and they are probably about my age now. Odd!
Anyway up!Son called…hmmm not like him to call so soon…could he just borrow some money till next week!Went to pick up some traybakes for a celebratory Tuesday Tea. Good blether with the baker.Popped in to old work had another blether with the girls. Then into supermarket. Lots of RTC including flowers. Sunflowers and gladioli ( which always remind me of my MIL)
And home …and I know I said I’d just be half an hour dog but I was blethering!Friend called. Then chat with DD1 .Then friends daughter called with great news! It’s exam results day so she wanted to let me know herself! Then more blooming house drama! I am absolutely over it all!! Spoke to solicitor and estate agent.
Friend came round. So that was nice to see her. Was talking to Estate Agent when she arrived! Gave her a traybake to take home .
Then time to make TT. Was all RTC chicken Kiev , baby potatoes, coleslaw and salad. Pud was a meringue nest with fruit and a shared traybake. Have given them traybakes to take home. They came with bananas and onions they got in a good to go bag.A good day apart from the drama…I could do without the drama! Sign came down at my request ( because I’m so over it being up)7
