Pleasures for the weekend
1) first night of the proms then onto birthday celebrations (not mine) - spent the evening chatting with DrM - someone came up asked how the odd couple was - I responded still odd ;-)
2) saw some nice dinner sets in MrT down to half price so bought the two 4xsettings they had and went home to sort the chipped from non-chipped cheap stuff i'd bought when my ex moved out
3) took the unchipped plus some stationery (including lots of printer paper) to work - the crockery will be lifted Friday for the recycle 'shop' for freshers (fortunately I knew where there was a trolley to get it from the car to the office!
4) Present Laughter at the rep with gbf and mum - NT recording from 2019 with the delectable Andrew Scott - fab
5) and now the proms again followed by an Andrew Davis last nightMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to Sainsbury's cafe to read my new magazine and have a pot of tea.
3) Bumped into bigger son and his girlfriend in Sainsburys.
4) Had a few courgettes from my dad earlier this week so I made 1kg into 4 jars of chutney. It does vary but it was pretty good, with plenty of ginger in.
5) Did a couple of hours in the garden. Lots of weeding of the herb/strawberry bed. I took the strawberry runners that are rooting and tried to repot them but not sure if they will survive. Also weeded around the currant bushes.
6) Phoned my school friend.
7) Popped to Tesco with smaller son.
8) Just tidied up and will watch another episode of the Turkish Detective, complete with its very wooden acting!7 -
Hello.
Just popping in before heading off to bed.
Some pleasures:
1) A warm afternoon on Friday at our favourite garden, little fella was at school so there was no feeding of the fishes but we had a long sit in the sunshine. I've always felt very close to my mum there and her 2 year anniversary is coming up so she is on my mind a lot. Not the place here to dwell on it but she feels a long, long way away now. Ho hum...
2) Son and partner had a weekend away so we have been in charge of eldest grandson who is nursing a sore throat so in need of some granny pampering, complete with Calpol and tomato soup. Aww!
3) Went to a local EH property this afternoon to listen to a brass band concert in the garden, took a picnic and had a lovely afternoon. One of the ex-colliery bands, we live very much in Brassed Off country here, and wonderful that the bands keep going.
4) Finally, the latest batch of cream from the dermatology specialist seems to be doing the job and the sore, flaky patches on my face are looking and feeling heaps better. Hooray!
5) Sunday night and no work tomorrow, still a huge pleasure.
Right, off to my bed. Night night all.7 -
Good morning. It's sunny. Think that's a record five in a row!
Frith - we're watching Turkish Detective because of the views. Love Istanbul

Early Saturday morning saw hot air balloons drifting across the field behind us. A lovely start to my day. Tried to take a photo but they look like balloons from a children's party!
Managed to do garden tidying. Had a bbq. Sat outside to read. Ate meals outside. It's great to be able to use the garden as an extra space in the sunshine.
Good to have a break from clinic appointments. Very grateful for all they've done but still happy to have a few weeks off.
Out for tea yesterday with DD and fiance. Sunday dinner. Not sure when I last had Sunday dinner apart from in Christmas days so I thoroughly enjoyed it. And then their cheesecake was egg free so couldn't say no to that. So I was very full. And happy😃
Happy Monday everyone6 -
For yesterday,
Up early and a wander around the garden, small dog at feet, cuppa in hand.
Morning at the yard, worked girlie in lunge pen but she seemed a little stiff on the right rein, luckily lovely physio is now dating one of the other owners so was on hand to check her over. He couldn’t see much wrong but will watch her work when she has her scheduled session on Friday. Like many horses she is very stoical so a sharp eye is needed to spot any problems.
Home and Capt S had started the yearly task of cutting the large hedge surrounding the cottage, stop for a fortifying meal of chicken pie and veg.
Fed the tomato plants and other veg, more cut and come again salad leaves planted & much pottering indulged in.
In and watched the last hour of the cricket, felt for the poor souls who had got free tickets for the fifth day but great bowling by England.6 -
Morning all.
Suffolksue - it's taken me a while to catch up on everyone's news after our visit to your wonderful part of the world. We stayed just past Little Cornard on the way to Bures, I'm sure you know it. Some wonderful places visited amidst glorious scenery, just lovely.
Anyway, just wanted to say how thrilled I was to read your news - you sound reborn!! No crutches or pain after all this time, able to drive and do the gardening, out to your coffee mornings again - many pleasures, indeed!
How wonderful after all this time to be pain-free, a huge improvement for you, I'm so pleased x6 -
Highdays ! You were very near me ,I live on that road nearly out of Gt Cornard !
My surgery has a branch in Bures which is often easier for me !Yes it is a beautiful part of the world Did you visit Gainsborough’s Museum ?glad you enjoyed your stay ,
i still can’t get over what a difference the op has made5 -
Hello. We started the day with rain and it’s now a very pleasant evening .
early start
out with friend, had a good old catch up
got flowers and a thank you card from a family I’d done a service for which was so lovely. I currently have a room filled with flowers.son called.Waiting on a call. Waiting on an email. Email came first which was not good news. My sellers are going back up for sale. Phone call with offer on my house ( which I knew about and was expecting the legal offer) so honestly up a ladder and down a blooming snake. See what progresses tomorrow.
Had chicken pie and potatoes and veg for early tea
And tomorrow is another day as I feel absolutely wrung out! Going to have an early night! Watching High Country on iPlayer…near my boys stomping/skiing/climbing ground! Was telling him about it this morning.6 -
oh mhags I do hope the next roll of the die finds you at the bottom of another ladder
1) saw mum off - she's gone to London till Friday so I am alone. plus 2 spaniels of course
2) which meant working at home this morning - dog walked thinks slowly recoverin dog may not make it out for his walks again :-( but he is eating well and enjoying the (very) short walks I take him on
3) took large bag of icing sugar in for colleague who always makes the office cake and never takes any money - the sugar was one i bought during the pandemic when all you could get was catering bags due to the hotels and restaurants being shut but then dd2 found a box at the back of the cupboard and then her passion for making peppermint creams ebbed and the sugar has sat there ever since
4) scottish new potatoes for supper with ys gammon yum
5) and now to dye my hair and watch another episode of Dr Who. i didn't like the baby one but liked Boom and 73 yardsMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

1. 3 emporium visits today, with many, many, many flowers shared out. Early a.m, Ms Nice Lady explained that all branches had received double/treble flower stocks, unordered, so all were out at crazy prices. She was reducing everything to 75p, 1.99 or 2.99 max. even for £65 bouquets!
2. New neighbour - left marmalade, h-g rhubarb+ginger jam with card, having brought person's wheelie bin in. (& has never wanted one.) Was told 'slightly disabled' by someone in authority. & is not a big 'neighbours' person. Wrote that days are usually busy elsewhere, much volunteering, commitments, so little in and usually late back.
3. Bit bullet and threw out lots of ruined x. Some heartbreak, considerable £££loss.
4. Happy CS find - Richard Coles' 'Murder Before Evensong'. Just started and enjoying it.
5. More Sodditry Whynottery means & has booked 2 more beloved Spookymen's Chorale concerts, this Wednesday and next. Tour nearly over, so to The Swan, Worcester late tmrw and The Lyric, Carmarthen, a week later.
