Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) My brother came here at 10.30. He took down the 80s gold wall light in the living room and sprayed it with car paint. 2 new bulbs and it looks much better.
3) We also made some lanterns to go in the garden.
4) I did a 4 mile walk.
5) Went to M and S for a pot of tea and the cafe lady who keeps horses said they had seen I was very distressed last time I was there with MrU and they wanted to ask but I left before they had chance. Of course, this made me nearly cry again! Well, no MrU to spoil future M and S visits. Day 5 since the final, final split.
6) Made a very necessary doorstop for the kitchen/hall door, which is basically in a wind tunnel if both outside doors are open at the same time. I recycled a velvet gift bag and filled it with filling (obviously!) with a few pebbles in the centre.
7) Found another coat of MrU's hiding in the boot of the car. Put that in the washing and in fact did all the washing, including my handbag! I would donate the coat to a charity shop but it has burn holes in the hood from too many bonfires. I don't know what to do with it.
8) Made a big batch of tomato sauce which will be enough for a few meals. We had meatballs for tea, with tomato sauce and spaghetti.
9) Did various bits online including finally ordering a bed! I've slept on the floor since moving last July. It was £58 so hopefully will be OK.
10) Watched Gardeners World.
Having MrU living here for so many months means I am now off the end of my overdraft. Unintentional on his part but I've decided today to draw out a certain amount of cash per week, like I had to years ago. The only thing I really need to buy now is 2 new front car tyres. I have 6 pieces of clothing (from charity shops originally) on Ebay and they're doing quite well.8 -

@Frith - you might give the coat to someone homeless, even with a few holes in it, it might keep someone warm. Been sending you virtual hugs.5

For yesterday,
Looks like we have a Robin nesting in the roof covering the old well, it’s situated near the kitchen window so look forward to seeing the babies.
Took small dog for her hydrotherapy, I love watching other people and their dogs come & go.
Capt S had made some lunch for me so sat and had a catch up with him.
With my other girlie, considering she was out without a rug on and in so much mud she wasn’t too bad to clean off. Cup of tea with my friend and watched another lady who is studying for PHD is horse physiology working on a horse.
Filling up the bird feeders and we have blossom buds on the apple tree.
Happy Ostara - Spring Equinox to everyone 💐x

spring is springing though I was not up at 3:09am to welcome her in. nor did the weather - rain again
1) the boys, having got up for their early pee, let me sleep in till 9:10 - I must as my grandmother would have said needed it!
2) broad bean pasta salad for lunch - I love broad beans - though only had time to eat half before
3) a prof's retirement lecture - great fun, rather a surprise to see ex's boss in Cambridge on first slide (much younger than when we knew him) - academia is a small world! then a slide of a smiley DrM 'is he here oh yes there he is at the back' DrM is one of the most modest academics I have ever met - perhaps the M stands for Modest. he appeared later in the talk too - a very bright young man
4) refreshments - lots of fruit yum - chatted to lots of people including DrM - then back to my broad bean salad and external examining in an otherwise empty office.
5) and home later than I meant to yummy shepherd's pie - despite my assuring mum i can cook for myself she has made meals up for me to see me through till she returns Monday 🤣 - she's off to see my sister early tomorrowMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Hello. The holiday makers returned very late last night and a tad noisily as I knew they would.
Over to their new house this morning and no electricity. Took all day to sort out and didn’t have electricity till about 5pm. So we couldn’t even boil a kettle to heat water to clean. Much cleaning needed! Honestly! How you can walk out and shut a door on that! And…remember I’d said last week there was milk left in the fridge that was switched off…well the half bag of prawns in the switched off a week ago freezer topped that. Oh my goodness the stench! I brought the fridge/freezer shelves over to mine to clean them. Stuck some bicarbonate of soda and a lemon in the fridge to freshen up.We met the elderly lady next door who came to her front door to say hello which was nice. The sun was shining this afternoon. Beautiful blue sky.
Got some takeaway for very late dinner.Lots of daffodils and trees with blossom on the drives over.Nice cuddles with my dog boy.9 -
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Phoned about election work and I have 7 days in April and May.
3) I found more of MrU's toiletries left behind so I bagged them up and dropped them in the food bank donation bin.
4) Walked into town and back (just over 4 miles) and saw 2 herons and lots of swans. Talked to a lady with a dog and it turns out she lives opposite me.
5) Had a pot of tea in M and S.
6) Bigger son came round for a cup of coffee.
7) Took apart a large picture frame because the poster inside it had dropped downwards.
8) Started the application for a grant for smaller son for his football season ticket.
9) Had meatballs in a wrap for tea.
10) Smaller son and I walked to the little Tesco.8 -
For yesterday,
A song thrush in the garden, first one I’ve seen in quite a long time, hopefully there is a pair for nesting.
Over to the stables as girlie was having a physio massage, first time since she’s been on her medication. She was a tad apprehensive at first but then relaxed into it. Afterwards physio and I had a coffee & catch up in kitchen and when I went back out to her she was dozing in her stable so had obviously enjoyed it! The sun was out by this time so I walked her out to field for a couple hours of grazing.
Text messages with DSIL.
Did some exercises with arm weights then some stretching yoga.
Lit a yellow candle in celebration of Ostara.8 -
Quieter start to the day which I think was most needed! And I slept all night which was a pleasant change!Up early.
Caught up on some stuff that I wanted to watch.Pup dropped off as their furniture was getting shifted today so he wasn’t in the way.
House went ‘live’ and had first viewing booked in first 5 minutes of it going online. So had the maddest hour of being spotlessly perfect again…it was only on Monday it was perfect! However had DD2 and chap staying and all their washing in various states of drying! So whirled like a dervish again!Nice couple came to view. And we had the most amazing sunset to show off the view from back of the house, couldn’t have timed it better!!9 -
