Morning all.
Glorious blue skies and sunshine, a lovely start to the day.
Need to catch up with all your news, hope everyone is well. Did see your lovely photo, Lainey, no wonder you are besotted, just magnificent!
Recent pleasures:
1) SIL is ot of hospital and recovering slowly but well.
2) A day to myself yesterday as hubby put the set in for the latest play. Some reading and set the pattern on a complicated knitting project and bumbled about generally.
3) Brother has yet another scan tomorrow but for the moment it's the calm before the storm and time to mentally relax a little bit.
4) Son came in with Whiskey Sours to celebrate St Patrick's Day. Would have been rude not to...
5) More DIY in boys' bedrooms today and little fella's room will be finished this morning. A trip this aternoon to buy paint and filler and will have a cuppa while we are out I think and then back to it.
Hope you have sunshine today where you are.

Good luck mhags
Pleasures for yesterday
1. got the final 'bits' for DS#s birthday (25 today 🥳😱). I'm not sure about one of them, but it's done now. Not his main thing in any case which will be next season's season ticket for the Villa (Very many ££££)
2. washing hung out and largely dried on the line (amazing that this is such a pleasure for so many of us)
3. a walk down to see my friend who's been on a Caribbean cruise for a couple of weeks. The Cruise part does not appeal at all, the islands do though.
4. a bonus to see my goddaughter before she goes back to the Maldives where she lives and works (alright for some). i hadn't expected to see her
5. OH cooked a lovely lasagne for tea.
have a great day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens8 -
Higgledy piggledy various-1. Hearing Penelope Keith from 2014, on forgotten great women gardeners, headed by Gertrude Jekyll and Lutyens' work. Enhanced by so many more, names largely lost, but Christopher x at Great Dixter, James Wong were other contributors, celebrating many forgotten women gardener 'greats'.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000twkrHearing GJ describe her vision achieved - great drifts of planting and colour - at Great Munstead is another lost era, vocally too.Restful, beautiful, inspiring - visit!Does any of that make sense?2. NHS and local surgery, immediate attention, prompt, ongoing. Thanks to all involved with more investigation to come.3. Filthy rugby weather Friday night, but wanted to support our Women's 1st XV vs RAF Women, including several internationals! Down only 5-0 at halftime, but then...... Along with that, 3 crutches-needed injuries. Not great. & will not be around for a bit. Not before time that others stepped up, put hands in pockets and gave long hours for fundraising and volunteering.4. Paid long-standing storage until autumn. Lovely conversation and & is aware, as always, of being so fortunate in where it is and with whom. Then, onto long awaited, glorious church jumble. Oh what joy!
Such finds! And capped by news of J and J's engagement, both in their 40s. Rushed back for a stonking bottle of Tiki Ridge red for them. Lovely times, capped by Les Bleus, winning in The Alma, & among friends.
Edit: another wretched autocorrect 'stinking' to 'stonking'. Does it every time.😡5. Surplus rugby food donated to Jimmy's and usual thanks related back.🙂#Happycas, inspired by your swimming activity, tried AGAIN to access local pool and gym, as previously done daily over some years. All still locked, dark, looks abandoned. Trekked about to finally find 'reception' of what has now become 'a market-leader Academy'🤬😡😤. Don't start me....👺Rude woman, ignorant, waved me away without looking up, 'Everything online. Busy.' Asked her to please look up when speaking to people in front of her. Told her there is no local connectivity. 'Told you, just go away.'Dear me! & remained in front of her. Eventually, a sheet of paper was pointed at, by a distant printer. It is gibberish. Both swimming pool and gym are supposed to be community, public facilities outside school hours. & will put questions in writing.#Hope Spring and all its associated metaphors are working their uplifting good on all ospers.
Emporium WiFi means & can post these.
'Entitled moi' Jockey Club beamer parking, bumping into nice couple's car so they couldn't open boot, stow provisions. We enjoyed politically incorrect character assessment.😁

Hello.Feeling rather pooped tonight! But need to walk pup again. Is it tomorrow night yet?Whirled like a dervish this morning and got everything done right on time. Everything ticked off the very long list.Lots of photos taken and they actually made me cry as they look so nice! And I did that! I came back to a house that had been wrecked by tenants, that no one wanted to buy as they couldn’t see past what needed doing and I re-created my space. Added bits here, took away bits there. But it’s too big for just me. And it’s time another family fills its space. And I desperately want to live near the sea so I’ve made it happen.Anyway the sun kindly shone. The log burner went on at the same time as two sets of double doors were opened! The where did I put your dog bowl? Different cupboard to the dog bed!Pup was taken for his walk and for once didn’t come back sodden. Finally got a washing out…my retractable washing line had retracted a bit too far but with determination and two bits of stick I got it out and up. Had a good blow but then the rain came back on. Honestly I’m so thankful it was dry when I needed it to be!Had a mid afternoon meal of some RTC chicken and veggies.Had a wee snooze. I seriously hope I sleep better tonight. Nice clean bedding to get in to.Sign should go up tomorrow! Yikes! Then hopefully viewings. ( not looking forward to viewings…especially if they’re like me and want to spend an hour looking at a house 😆) I’m two weeks ahead of where I thought I’d be. Which hopefully means I can be in my new house 2 weeks sooner than I might have…just in time for early sunrise walks!8

Exciting times MHags, I long to live by the sea.
Your pony is a beauty Lainey 😊
Very belated birthday Chinese takeaway at friend’s on Thursday, with leftovers on Friday 😋
Not much happened here at the weekend. Re potted my hanging baskets after buying some gorgeous pansies and violas at the little nursery. More tete a tete put in, I do love them.
Shopping this morning and popped into friends to say Bon voyage as she is off to Lanzarote tomorrow. More shenanigans with Thames Water as I had a meter fitted 3 years ago but still being billed as nonmetered. I’ve spent hours doing this over the last 3 weeks plus intermittently over the last 3 years,☹️
Of to the seaside tomorrow, to friend’s beach hut in Holland on Sea and to see friend who has moved to Frinton.
Hoping for a good sleep tonight, I was awake at 2 a.m. this morning after having a nightmare about my son, it kept continuing as I dozed off 💤
have a good evening everyone 😊7 -
another manic monday done
1) nice walk in - my knee has been giving gyp so need to exercise it a bit more - it was a lovely walk in
2) meeting with some very nice people from Thailand - we were a bit late in the room so gave the waiting students the left over shortbreads - they were very happy
3) taken out to lunch by the prof who'd said yes to the meeting then realised he didn't have a physical space to meet them - we had a good catch-up
4) steak round for supper
5) then watched how to build a cathedral - very goodMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) More jobs done. I took an English teaching book back to the head of volunteers. Took another bag to the charity shop (bought a White Stuff shirt). Took stuff to the tip.
3) Had a fish finger sandwich and a pot of tea in Waitrose.
4) Went back to M and S to try and find my headphones but they are gone forever.
5) Lots of work in the garden. Shovelled earth where the garden drops down at the end (which used to be completely tangled and overgrown). Dug 3 holes to put in "steps". Repotted the herbs. Tidied and hose piped the patio. Moved a very small fruit tree to a better spot.
6) Waited for the Sainsburys delivery then we realised we really wanted burgers so smaller son and I went to Tesco to get some, with brioche buns and onion rings.8 -
For yesterday,
The Monday morning shop and back to normal, chilled out time. Treated myself to some tulips 🌷
Decent morning with lots of sunshine so dog’s bedding, towels and coat washed & dried on the line.
Saw my first butterfly of the Spring, a Brimstone fluttering around the hedge.
With my pony, we both got wet in the hot wash ( spray attachment shot off, soaking me and scaring girlie ) then left her to munching before doing a bit of work.
Tea was pork schnitzel with stir fry veg than enjoyed quiz evening.
eta , knew exactly what ‘Jockey Club’ type you were speaking of Ampersand!7 -

Tuesday Tea. Just friend. We had RTC breaded chicken . RTC salad. RTC coleslaw. RTC potatoes popped into the airfryer. Very yummy. Then I’d made a peach crumble for pud with a spare bag of crumble mix in the freezer. The travellers return later tonight and are staying here so I’ve popped hot water bottles in the bed.8
