MrU was to visit for the weekend, staying to go to college today. He walked out at 11.30pm yesterday, after failing to get me to argue about chillies. This is the 5th time (walking out, not shouting about chillies). His friend said he was very happy at college today. No fool like an old fool... Will he contact me in a few days? My house is warm, clean and calm and I am very useful as an English speaker/filler in of forms...
Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Smaller son made me a belated Mother's Day huge cooked breakfast. It was rather nice to be able to cook pork again, after so many months.
3) I walked into town and back. 4 miles
4) FINALLY I managed to order smaller son a new provisional driving licence with our present address on.
5) I weighed myself on the Wii board and am now very fat. I must have lost half a stone over the past week (the misery diet!) so I will continue.
6) I cleared the bags of slightly too small clothes in my wardrobe as they got dusty in all the decorating. They are in the washing machine now with some to go on Ebay and some to go in MrU's now empty side of the wardrobe, ready for when I have lost a stone or so.
7) Some supportive messages from an unexpected person.
8) Still catching up with Casualty so I will switch that back on just now.8 -

gosh another big change mhags
for the weekend
1) discovered The Wrong Mans on iPlayer (2013) and binged - absolutely loved it
2) went to La Forza del Destino with gbf (my ticket was free from a friend who couldn't use it) - excellent (though did miss the England game - DD2 says well worth watching on catch-up)
3) bought DrM a super retirement pressie - hadn't been planning to but he'd been saying how he was looking forward to spending more time with the robins in his garden and there was a lovely print in the charity shop - think I'll tell him a little bird asked me to get it for him ssssshhhh not a word
4) mothering sunday - the girls had left lovely flowers for both me and mum, and church gave out packets of wild flower seeds
5) footie with DrM and MrG (and of course Luton got a point #COYH)
and for today which was particularly tough at work for various reasons so let's think hard...
1) very nice hm sausage casserole for lunch lo from Sunday tea
2) although I didn't leave the office till nearly 7 there was a #22 in the stand despite 5 minutes to go
3) and there was a lovely older lady telling the driver what a fantastic job he and his colleagues were doing and how much they were appreciated which made me feel considerably calmer and happier than I had been 10 minutes earlier
4) watched series two of The Wrong Mans (2014) and again felt the stress of the day tumble away
5) had found a forgotten pack of maltesers when starting to sort the office yesterday - munching my way through them as I listen to the archers and now classicfm. so a lovely end to the day. tomorrow if possible is even busier than today.

Good morning. Grey again.
Ampersand - I've been enjoying the Daphne Du M on BBC Sounds too, especially the short stories.
Mhagster - ooh, exciting times.
Oh Frith. Recommend I Will Survive, played loudly and sung along to, while dancing round the house. Repeat as necessary.
Recently
Met DD and fiance for breakfast, foolishly not realising the impact Mother's Day would have on our garden centre cafe. It was crazy. I think all of South Yorkshire was there. Fortunately we were there early so got a table. There were queues out of the door when we left.
DD gave me a beautiful flower arrangement in a posh box that she'd done. Still using the floristry skills we learnt a year ago.
Poor DS has a nasty chest infection so we didn't see him on Sunday as planned. Hopefully next weekend.
And then yoga cancelled because our teacher is poorly. So friend and I went for coffee anyway and chatted for even longer.
Using the grey days to do long neglected housework tasks. Kitchen cupboards rearranged so that I can reach things without yoga style contortions. This has also produced two big bags of charity shop donations.
Our spring bulb section in the garden is defying the grey weather and is a very uplifting bright spot. Praise be for tete a tete. And Christmas roses.
Happy Tuesday everyone.

Big changes in the parish, exciting news Mhags
Straps up dear Frith, the bad karma will be his alone x
For yesterday,
Horsey town for a food shop and a coffee with friend, recently flooded back road now open but problems remain on major arterial, think we will be hosepipe ban free this summer. That said it’s hardly stopped raining since local water co started work on large pipeline bringing water into the area, the irony is not lost on us East Anglians!
Started my Head plan journal, another way to think of goals & pleasures.
Exercise was online Pilates and hit my steps total.
My pony was grumpy and muddy when I got her in, the hot wash and a big hay net mollified her. It’s a slog getting them in from their fields and think we have all had enough of the mud. Her grateful kisses help.
Easy tea of aubergine and feta burgers with baked sweet potatoes, yum.8 -
Hugs frith
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Watching Ryan Gosling perform "I'm just Ken" at the Oscar's - more than once
2. ANother work worked - four more and an easter break for four weeks. Attendance has now gone over a cliff
3. tutorials tutored. Much more enjoyable than 2
4. veggie casserole for tea.
5. carpet man didn't come (was at an inconvenient time). He should be here at a much more convenient time this PM
Enjoy your day.I wanna be in the room where it happens7 -
Hello. I’ve just came up to bed. I’m so full of snots and have a gratey throat. So I’ve kind of done with today and think I need a good sleep! Not a good sleep last night as joints were aching after moving 1 tonne of stones. Even my pinky joint was aching!Anyway up and at em this morning. Drove down to beach town to meet niece. And we went to a very nice restaurant at the yacht marina, I’ve not been in ages so it was very nice and we had a window seat with a lovely view. FaceTimed DD1 and chatted with her. Then we went a bit of a drive round then dropped her off and I went home.Hello doggy…just in time for his lunch! Then time to start humphing stones again. Chatter to an neighbour half way through. And was actually doing well when I was aware a wee Jack Russell was coming to see me…friend and her dog! So had a very long chat with her. Then Tuesday Tea friend turned up so it was time to go in…plan had been to finish up and go back in and get changed out of worky clothes and put tea on but too busy chatting . Had moved about half a tonne of stones this afternoon. So half a tonne still to go tomorrow. Looks much better.Anyway cheap and cheerful tea. Mince round, baby potatoes and loads of veggies. Cooked in 25 minutes.Quick call to DD2 then thought nah! I’m going to bed. I think I’ve maybe chattered too much today!7

Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son came round! He brought my favourite chocolate bars for Mother's Day and mended MrU's bike, which hopefully will now become my bike...
3) I made another cooked breakfast.
4) Walked into town again. I have found a short cut (which you don't really need when you're walking to clock up the miles) so it's 3.59 miles now.
5) Had a takeaway Greek in the car for tea.
6) Went to watch our football team who eventually equalised. It is looking rather like we will go back down to the league where we were stuck for so many years.
7) No word from MrU but have been invited out by 3 friends on Friday.8 -
Pleasures for last few days
1. DS2 went to a men’s mental health chat group yesterday and was his idea to go and said he wants to go next week too.2. Had my nails done for holiday next week

5. Had another date, he’s good company & makes me laugh.8 -
A village co-op long shut, but & is writing @2329h, apparently with Co-WiFi still working. On verra.🤞1. An hour ago, braked to avoid teen muntjac which suddenly shot across Doblo's bows as & drove gently past Cherry Hinton shops. 20mph speed limit there. Just as well.2. Lovely email+pics from &'s daughter in Delhi. CanSupport is her life's work.3. Brilliant, if horrific, 2-part adaptation of George Meredith's 'The Egoist' on R4X.4. Very satisfactory debadgering at College salon this arvo, after completing h-g rhubarb and ginger compote. Not much, but it's lush.5. Have discovered Shaun Bythell, 'The Confessions of a Bookseller', with much laughter out loud during osp4. Will definitely be treating self to his other oeuvres.😁🤗👌Big recommend

For yesterday,
Woke up to rain lashing against window so first pleasure of Capt S bringing me a cup of tea in bed.
The horses were being kept in so went over in the morning before the roads got too bad, my girlie was happy enough snug in her stable and pleased to see her Mum, carrot in hand. Gave her a groom and medication, then did same for friend’s horse to save her making the trip in the horrid weather.
Home, cold and hungry so had fried eggs on toast for lunch.
There was a thank-you card from the couple that we supplied hot drinks for when their car broke down, she had mentioned that her sister worked nearby so suspect that she’s the Postie.
The rain finally stopped around 4 so we had a dry, if squelchy work with small dog.
