Morning all.
Back from our travels, lovely to be home.
Fingers crossed it's just a storm in a teacup, Frith.
Recent pleasures:
1) A lovely weekend away just with hubby.
2) Went to some of my favourite places.
3) Popped in for coffee and a chat with brother and SIL before we set off home.
4) New car had a good run and performed well.
5) My own bed, another favourite place.
Afternoon tea and a theatre trip on the cards today. Hope you all have a good day.

Aww Frith - echoing what others have said...😥
Pleasures for yesterday
1. had to drive into the city for work. I hate that; it's much easier to park and ride on the tram and i get time with my book. The pleasure is that it shaved a short time off the return journey
2. Work was worked. Sigh. I used to love being in the classroom but it's changed. Or the students have changed. Or me, or something. 5 more
3. Our new stair banisters etc. are being installed
4. yummy cottage pie for tea
5. went to the pictures with DD to see American Fiction - very good indeed.
Enjoy your evenign all.I wanna be in the room where it happens7 -
Ah no, there is no coming back from this one.
ETA - He is not coming back but will there be a solution?
Anyway, pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep, to my surprise.
2) A few kind messages from a friend.
3) Got lots of housework done.
4) Cleaned the bathroom properly.
5) Smaller son and I went to PC World.
6) We have paid for the stream of our football club so I will watch the match later tonight.
ETA - watched half the football, went to have possibly a last chat with MrU. He is still going to move.8 -
Will head this with Happy Birthday homage to Henry Marsh, born 5 March, 1950 neurosurgeon extraordinary, among many, many other things, whose first book, 'Do No Harm', I finished yesterday, but am unable to let go, re-reading and reflecting.....Have '....And Finally', his latest, still to savour.#Unavoidable unplanned expense day, but.....1. Same excellent young Halfords chap as last time replaced an & headlight bulb. Much quicker than Meriva and all-in price £2ish less!2. A bag of sturdy big bags left on trolley at Food Warehouse, just as & approached. 'Use them', said dumper. Yes please! Just filled one at emporium and cappuccino waiting for & to finish writing osps😁 - and it's still raining.3. Lucky rtcs at FW and emporium - black puddings 49p(rugby boys were keen last time)and massive hearty white cauliflowers, 39p. Passing on will follow.4. Grim msg exchange an hour ago with young LP friend, Professor of US Politics re: trumpanzee, just as he'd landed at San Francisco, invited to give several lectures and talks, but also joy at def. meeting during spooky men's chorale tour - Oxford for one.5. ...good girl at 75, &. All own teeth still, and again no work needed at wonderful Chapel End NHS dentist.. Enjoined to take some of their rhubarb too. 6 stalks and crystallised ginger will make lush jam.#🤞🤞🤞for whatever happens next, Frith.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Oooh rhubarb envy & . Mine has started growing but whether it grows well or not…this could be its year! I brought it from the allotment when I had it and it grew well there.Anyway early schmearly.Dressed in painty clothes…I may treat them to a wash soon! And finished the fence. With a wee bit of paint left over.Supermarket. RTC veggies. But no Cajun spice so walked along to old work and said any chance! So got a wee pot of spice just enough to make tea tonight.Home and gathered stuff for next charity shop visit ( hopefully tomorrow if not Thursday) 5 bags worth in the car. Some was from my granny but I said thank you and goodbye. And hope someone else loves it! And jugs…three jugs that again loved and said goodbye. As I have new to me stuff coming.Chaps came to clean gutters. So that’s done had a nice blether. And they fixed a broken down pipe.Read my book with a dog on my knee.Made Tuesday tea which was Cajun chicken. I won a packet of fettuccine pasta and used that . And my free spice and an RTC tub of quark made for a cheaper meal. Had RTC garlic bread from the freezer. RTC corn on the cob…with a slight massacre of sweetcorn flesh across my worktops and splash back as I tried to chop it in half…yellow gloop everywhere! RTC salad. And pudding was RTC strawberries, pineapple and apple.Lovely evening of chatter and laughter…it seems an age but it’s only a fortnight.9

For yesterday,
A spoonful of peanut butter on my morning muesli as recommended by DN’s gf, yum and who knew!
Sigh, time to catch up on chores after being Mrs Lazy what with birthdays and holidays. As always the pleasure is when it’s done.
Met a friend for coffee and a catch up.
Over to see pony, they were in again with yet more rain falling and the paddocks have a lot of water lying in them, worse it’s been for a long time apparently. Well at least my girlie was happy and pleased to see her Mum, operation shedding of winter coat is well underway.
Home and Capt S had finished work so caught up on each other’s day.8 -
Up early.
Pup dropped off. I stayed in bed to finish my book.
Then jumped in my car…and it wouldn’t start! Grrr. Battery died ( been a bit dodgy the last couple of weeks) so have had to order one and it will get fitted tomorrow. Managed to get 10% off as a new customer.
So morning plans all changed. So cleaned kitchen cupboards instead.Made lentil soup which was very tasty and used up the last of the 15p carrots, 15p onions and RTC spuds so very cheap as well as delicious!
Pup out for about 3 hours on his walk.
Another bag in the car for charity shop. And texts back and forth to niece and DD2 …do you want this? It’s been a lovely day. And a beautiful sunset.
DD2 joined me for tea and had soup and leftover Cajun chicken pasta.I made a jelly ( smelled like my childhood when I was making it) and had some tinned mandarins…amazing what you find when you tidy your cupboards! And a bit of poly filling and painting over.
And just moved stuff from extension into kitchen as it’s getting painted tomorrow ( decorator texted…8am okay?)
Have washed first curtain tonight ( long and heavy) and will do other one tomorrow. Weather app says nice! Blooming better be.Tomorrow plans changed as I don’t know yet when battery chap will come. Sigh!9 -
Frith, sorry to read that.
1 Well, our ferret that had lifesaving surgery a few weeks ago, we referred across as we need to know what to treat, it’s the best we could hope for a large cyst on the prostate, which is now implanted with large hormone therapy to touch wood reduce the size, but we need to get him through the flare we aren’t through the woods for a few weeks yet. The bloods and urine have been sent off to find out what we are dealing with and get the right meds for it. All detailed information is coming across in a few days. They were smitten with him, taking photo’s of him eating, he made everyone fall in love with him tarting it up and completely full of life chattering away to them. It left us with a feel-good feeling of we’ve done the right thing. Our holiday budget has now gone to the animals, and in fairness I’m surprised it hasn’t happened before now so that’s okay, we’re not stressed and desperate for a holiday.
2 There’s a lovely café near the vets where we treated ourselves to lunch, a bacon, Brie and chutney panini with salad etc, it was very civilised with service and the place was packed with people. It was very reasonable, slightly more than Greggs, but far less than stopping at a Costa.
3 Today we popped over to C0stco as we needed fuel, DH sidelined me determined to get a new vacuum as I’m struggling with the weight of the vax, it’s over 20 years old, repaired many times but in our change to animals, it means we’ve changed the floors to mainly laminate for ease. A lot of time spent looking through them, when an acquaintance we know who works there directed us to the Samsung boost, it had 200 off and 150 cash back which takes it to the price of the others we were looking at. So, we did the internet research while having a cuppa and bought it, it’s a lot better made than the others I was comparing it with, and rather space age looking.
4 Picked up a set of 6 Cornish pasties as we’ve both been craving one, but forgot they take a long cook, but craving satisfied for tea tonight.
5 I was doing things in the garden when the heaviest shower came over, which the animals thought was the best bath ever.

Aww, keeping everything crossed for your little one PK
For yesterday,
Thick fog first thing and the quiet that brings, deadening the noise from the bypass.
Sorted through my birthday flowers and changed the water, still have two vases worth.
Messages with friends and plans made for a catch up.
With my pony, nearly got my wellies stuck in mud when fetching her in but she pulled me out! Bit of work done in lunge pen and lots of grooming in the never ending removal of hair. Then sat on my grooming box in her stable and daydreamed as she ate her hay.
Tea was roasted veg and chicken thighs but didn’t hit the spot for me so a consolation couple squares of dark chocolate.
