@Suffolksue - Glad to see you posting. Hope you hip operation goes as planned I will be 78 in August and may be having hiatal hernia surgery. Doesn't sound like fun. Sometimes I think I would rather put up with the hiatal hernia.8

For yesterday,
We drove through Bakewell to the Monsal trail and had a good walk, saw a tree looking at us.
Coffee and a Bakewell slice at the on-site cafe when we got back.
On to Chatsworth and another walk, this time the sun come out and we saw deer running through the park. We had looked at some of the holiday rentals on the estate but were put off by the gulp prices!
Found a lovely pub and had a much needed bowl of soup & toastie.
By late afternoon the rain was coming down in earnest so back to the holiday cottage to our books and a few games of scrabble.

We referred ourselves a new vet place and had the appointment there yesterday, they spent time, they examined, managed a very brief ultrasound that revealed enough that he will have to go under urgently in the next couple of days with a hope that what was seen was the better rather than worse version. We got further in this one trip, and it’s left me both confident and livid at other places in equal amounts, but also aware that in fairness they saved his life.
1 We found a little coffee shop prior to the apt, sat in and enjoyed for a half hour, but I had no idea on prices and was very pleasantly surprised.
2 After the appointment we found a b and m for the pet event and stocked up.
3 I came over poorly rather suddenly, there was a Greggs next to b and m, I had a seat and sandwich and recouped a bit.
For today
1 We popped out to use the bread voucher via the Lidl app.
2 Greeted as long-lost friends having been out under an hour.
3 Cooked up a whole rtc chicken which smelled lovely, served it with some veg and chips.
4 Placed an order for a secondhand book.
5 I’ve been unsubscribing from a whole load of emails.

Hello. Bedtime. Another kind of hard day. Oooft. This extra day is a bit bizarre.
Early schmearly.
Tip appointment at 9am
Chat to DD1
Went to castle. Was blooming windy but as we were sat within the courtyard it wasn’t as bad!Brightened up to a lovely afternoon. Hung out a washing and enjoyed watching it blow. Was almost dry.
Sat and read library book that I’ve just finished.
Sister called.Had tea of RTC chicken Kyiv and peas and sweetcorn.
Pup dropped off for an hour.
Phoned friend.Had monstrosity of satellite dish removed off side off house ( like six years after I moved back) that tenants had had installed without permission and that we had requested be removed by them. Anyway 2 nice chaps came and did it this afternoon. Tick off the very long list ! ( also booked in chao to clean gutters so he’ll come next week)
Pup picked up. See ya ( yeah tomorrow!)
Finished reading book with hot water bottles on my knees!7 -

1) bright days and definitely longer
2) my dogs - always happy, always loving
3) remembering to take an empty tupperware today - I was convening a meeting 9 - 4:30 - there was lots of chicken and ham left over and managed to get most into my tupperware which is now in the fridge
4) going to the station to meet dd1 - she's over from the Netherlands for a week
5) sitting in the front room, fire on, candles lit, watching Ghosts - she's not seen it (no iPlayer in Holland) - we did the first 3 episodesMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Good morning. Brrr. Noticeably colder today. Thick frost out there.
Mhagster - Hope the rough patch lifts soon x
Lainey - Lovely tree pic, but just a bit creepy. Just me, perhaos😂
S Sue - fingers crossed the op goes ahead as planned. The postponements are so difficult to deal with.
Happy day for DH yesterday. Green bin collections started again. Ours was very full indeed but now he can get back to more gardening.
I'm gradually getting out and sorting through my summer clothes and identifying gaps. Some t-shirts needed and new trainers. Will see what the outlet has to offer.
Found a frame in Dunelm to fit my felted Puffin picture. ( why does predictive text give Puffin a capital P every time?). It now has pride of place in the bedroom.
Gradually using things up from the freezer. It was full of bits of this and that. Has made for some interesting meals but it's a bit more sensible in there now.
Have managed a full week with no medical appointments for either of us. Probably a record!
Happy frosty day everyone

Morning all. Can hear the rain lashing down again ☹️
Bit of a mixed week for me. On Monday I had my speeding awareness course (instead of getting points on my licence) which was very informative. Afterwards I had arranged to meet OH in the pub for belated Valentines/ birthday meal. Unfortunately the journey took 1 3/4 hours instead of 20 minutes by which time our favourite meal, gammon, had run out. So I ordered a steak instead, which was full of gristle, sent it back but by the time the replacement arrived(20 minutes later!) I didn’t really want it. I also now realise that my favourite bit, the onion nest, sets of my hiatus hernia.! Anyway, OH enjoyed his fish n chips and I took the other half of my free bottle of birthday wine 🍷 home.
On Tuesday I went swimming and then to M&S and bought myself a pair of black trousers and some nice food bits.
On Wednesday I met old friend in the lovely park for a stroll and bacon roll, then went to my final pulmonary rehab exercise class, just need to keep up the exercises now! Yesterday I went swimming again and met an old friend who I haven’t seen for nearly 2 years, for lunch and a good catch up 😊. Arranged to meet again next month, so it’s not so long next time!
This morning I’ve got to see the dental specialist to have the rest of my stitches out ( I swallowed the rest from the roof of my mouth ☹️). So fingers crossed 🤞 for that. I might have a wander around that town depending on if the rain has stopped.
Have a good Friday everyone 😊7 -
For yesterday,
Given the snow forecast for this morning and how high / isolated our cottage was we took the decision to come home a few hours earlier.
Enjoyed another trip into Bakewell first and visited a cheese shop we’d spotted on previous visits.
Lunch out, proper village pub with a wood burner and tasty food.
Journey home, we had been warned by loved ones of complete chaos around horsey town due to closure of major road so we came across country and approached from opposite direction but even so routes were busy. No matter, we sang along to the radio and small dog snoozed her way through the whole lot.
House was cold where we had turned thermostat down but soon had it back up again, the cooler atmosphere had preserved my birthday flowers though! Quick supper of cheese on toast and hot water bottles popped in bed.8 -
Hugs Mhags, especially today.
Pleasures wednesday.
1. walk in the park with friend. We escaped the rain!
2. home and finished cleaning most of the house (study and conservatory to go - they'll have to wait until Monday)
3. Had a bathy as a reward for cleaning.
4. Oh cooked a chicken something or other for tea
5. banked
and yesterday
1. early trip to the opticians. THe pain was the £358 bill. THe pleasure was finally being rid of my hated glasses - i broke them on Tuesday accidentally but they;re no loss.
2. then home and out straight away for lunch with friend. Lunch was awful (a toastie full of mayo - i ate about a quarter) but was good to catch up.
3. then straight to hairdressers for a desperately needed trim. It's been 12 weeks! only about two more cuts till all the dyed hair is gone, the pile of it on the floor was very satisfying.
4. then home and more marking done.. i'm finally, completely up to date
5. started watching ALice and Jack which is promising.
Have a great evening all.I wanna be in the room where it happens4 -
hope all well with the mouth paulieherts
1) a sunny day
2) ham salad saved from yesterday's work lunch los
3) last 'meeting' was a catch up with my fabulous programme lead over a cuppa - she had a stash of toblerone
4) home to my lovely dd1 - she'd spent the afternoon with her godfather who just happens to be my gbf
5) then dd2 and her bf arrived - he's up for work so they're staying in a hotel for 2 nights
