1 Applied for a job on the most decrepit nhs application site I’ve ever encountered, it took an absolute age.
2 Dropped a return package over to Evri, so that will be pennies back.
3 Bailed DH’s car out.
4 HM pizza for tea, it was a Christmas special, my favourite ham, sweetcorn, and leftover stuffing.

For yesterday,
Another bright, but cold day, lots of sunshine means the cottage stays relatively warm.
Tackled the under stairs cupboard as it’s become a bit of a dumping ground for anything we couldn’t find a home for. Cleared and done, several boxes broken up for recycling inc one for my mixer that I’ve had for two years 🙈 also sorted and recycled many scraps of wrapping paper too small to be of use. Kept opening the door during the day to admire my handy work!
Afternoon at the yard, sat & watched my pal riding her horse and she had just got off when a huge transport plane appeared low over the trees, eek.
A beautiful sunset.
Tasty tea, pork steaks with carrot & swede mash, cauliflower, fried apple and lots of onion gravy.7 -
Paulie, well done in getting back into swimming, I plan to over the coming weeks, I used to go daily and think it would help a lot to build up some strength and help with the asthma.
1 I batch cooked up some brown rice and curry, which was also tonight’s food.
2 Amended tomorrow’s food order but let it stand as it’s all things we will use, with most of it currently on offer, well that makes it normal price, at £2.50 delivery I think it worth it given the traffic here at the moment.
3 A lot of bird food out and being consumed when they need it, we also have a catch 22 with foxes, we don’t encourage them at all with the ferrets free-range in the house and with access to the garden, but they have become increasingly desperate, and yesterday I was just in time seeing the fox race up to a ferret, and it’s made us scared. So we are keeping the ferrets in just for now and letting them out for a little but only if we wrap up and go out with them, we have put some food out over the other side of the wall so they are not associating it with the garden in the hope that they will start to leave the garden alone and not be desperate for food.
4 A fair bit of tidying up and clean bedding for us.
5 A cardigan and jumper made of a very soft yarn I wear all of the time, have come up 70 percent off so I admit I have put an order in.

Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) The worst sleep imaginable, so happy to get up this morning! Scabies has turned into post scabies syndrome, which (to me) seems incredibly similar to having scabies but with additional electric shock feelings, which I presume is damage under the skin. Lovely!
2) A lie in this morning.
3) Yesterday's pizza for brunch.
4) Spent a good hour ripping stuff up in the garden. The bottom 2-3 metres hasn't been touched in many years so was a jungle of dead trees, ivy and honeysuckle (and brambles). MrU cut 2 dead trees down and we have the beginnings of a colossal bonfire.
5) MrU is out with friends this evening so I had a good look round Sainsburys, watched some Dr Who and smaller son and I can have a pork night so I am about to make toad in the hole. We also have some YS camemberts to cook later.5 -
Hello.
Just quickly touching base as all pretty quiet here - perfect!
Recent - and current - pleasures:
1) Current pleasure is hubby is cooking tea - well, I made the sauce so in reality all he is doing is cooking spaghetti and grating Parmesan but at least it frees me up to natter on here. I'm currently all cooked out after a heavy entertaining month in December. I think tomorrow will be egg and chips (which I love and yet we have it so rarely).
2) Walks every day this week with my boy but I've sprained my calf so will have to see how it is tomorrow. It's been good to have a catch up week as we got very little 1:1 time over Christmas and we really do enjoy each other's company so an hour a day walking and chatting is a definite pleasure.
3) One of my freezers breaking down while we were away at the start of the year is not a pleasure but the new one arriving tomorrow will be as it is bigger and better suited to the job. Shame to have a sizeable spend so early in the year but needs must.
4) Hubby's car - if we keep it - needs big work and will result in a big bill. Again, no pleasure there but it has concentrated our minds on what we intend to do car-wise for the forseeable future. Several options are available which is why for the last few months we have discussed at length but not come to any conclusion. Anyway, now we have and although our way forward will cost money we are sure it is the right decision. Will sleep on it to make sure and then crack on. Always a pleasure to have a plan.
5) Chat with one of my brothers who has some stuff we need to collect so will go over next week and have been invited to stay for a meal and have a sleepover so a chance to share a nice bottle or two over a meal and no driving home tiull next day. Love a mini holiday!
Right, tea is readys o gotta dash, no time to read through so please excuse if more typos that usual!7 -
Just re-read. Didn't do too badly til I got the 'tea's ready' call, whereupon typing went completely to pot! So sorry!6

Hello
Think I was just going to write last night when I got a phone call and was waylaid!Anyway for Thursday
Quick doggy walk in the morning.Got up and did some work stuff. More to do today.Had something to do that I’ve been putting off for far too long so I blooming well did it!Chat to sister on phone.Walked to supermarket to post a letter. Our local box has had its collection time changed to early morning whilst supermarket still has an afternoon collection.Popped in to pharmacy and thankful for free prescriptions that the pharmacist can prescribe!Walked the long way home…then grabbed a doggy and we went straight back out again.Had to pick up a friend to drop them off in town but there were roadworks so dropped them off in nearby street and popped in to a work place to say hello. And had a quick chat.Home and hello doggy, it wasn’t that long really and anyway it’s your teatime!Made chilli for my tea with enough left for today.
Then filled my hot water bottles and came up to bed…chatted on phone then zzzzz
Have a lovely day!6 -
Good morning. Cold but not raining. Not raining is a bonus! Was yesterday though!
Horrid nasal polyps flare up! Nose looks as if I've gone 5 rounds with Mike Tyson! And hurts. So I'm officially miserable. But doing all the usual tricks and it's subsiding a little. Got a GP appt next week to see if there's any new treatment since I last saw him - maybe 10 years ago.
Got a new phone. Gosh, that was hard work. Old one had become unreliable and we've no landline now so needed it to be working. Almost mastered it and DD and fiance have volunteered to be IT help desk over the weekend to sort the rest out.
Still being a soup dragon. (Was it in Button Moon?). Found a Nigel Slater one that has pancetta in. No pancetta here but some frozen leftover Christmas ham should be a good substitute I think.
Happy Friday everyone

Hope you feel better soon HappyCas and think the soup dragon was in The Clangers, one of my childhood favourites ☺️For yesterday,
Chat with equine vet and plan made for ongoing treatment, also made appointment for girlie to have her annual jabs next week.
Coffee with a friend and a quick food shop.
Got all my pension information together and will set aside a day next week to go through it all.
Time spent with my horse, swapping nose kisses for slices of apples.
A sort of the freezer had unearthed a portion of lasagne so we had that for tea along with roasted root veg.5
