Morning.
Not a lot to report, love these early January days to recoup and recharge and today we have little glimpses of blue sky after all the rain.
Recnt pleasures:
1) The joy of just pottering at home, sorting and tidying iand organising n a mild sort of way.
2) Started knitting a blanket for a new arrival due in April with wool from my stash, will also knit a little teddy to go with it. Very frugal pressie but it will look lovely when done, they won't be disappointed.
3) Good to have my house back to normal but still have plenty of candles to enjoy. Loving the very steady flame of the big church candles left over from our wedding years ago. They were boxed up and given to us after the event as had all been lit but not burnt down very far.
4) Started a recommended and very good so far TV series, two episodes of eight ejoyed so far so still a bit to go at.
5) Delicious leftovers from all the December entertaining - and we did a lot of that - are a just reward for all the meals we hosted through the month. So a very lazy few weeks of meals with just fresh veg to prepare.
Back to normal next week, the boys back to school, my bairn back to work, all done and dusted for another year but very much looking forward to a return to 'real life' and some quiet pleasures.
Get well soon, poorly peeps, and hope you all have the best Sunday you can.6 -
Another day of being a lazy bones!Had a lovely early morning walk. All crunchy and frosty. Then went back to bed and dozed off again!Walked up to friends and dropped off paint and had a nice chatter.Went to local petrol station to pick up something I’d ordered! Didn’t even know it was an option till yesterday. New phone case as other one was falling to bits. Used a voucher I’d got from doing surveys. Met friend in the carpark and had a quick chatter.Home and hello doggy we are definitely in for the night! And the day stretched out a wee bit longer again. It’s been another beautiful day…blue sky and sunshine. And I’ve filled a bag with 15 items for a charity shop and I’ve put it in the car to drop off next time I’m near one.And I’ve written a list of things to do for the week ahead! Nice things and really need to do things!6

Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) The man came to start hacking the kitchen walls around before replastering (tomorrow)
3) We cooked lunch on the camping stove and sat in the sunshine in the dining room.
4) We had yesterday's dinner, warmed up in the microwave on the dining room carpet!
5) The kitchen man went up on the flat roof (kitchen extension bit) and said he can repair the tiny bit where it leaks around the soil pipe. He will do this after the kitchen work tomorrow for an extra £50.
6) Some good news about MrU's paperwork.
7) We walked to bigger son's house! Just over 2 miles each way. We had a cup of tea and saw his kittens again.
8) On the way home we saw a fox in the park just before my house then I stopped on the footbridge to take photos of the Christmas lights reflected in the mill race.

4. My lovely neighbour brought ds2 a Sunday lunch then when realised I was not at work brought me some Roast Beef and Yorkshire pudding, which I added some tenderstem broccoli & instant gravy - 1st proper meal I have eaten for 4 days.
5. My muscles around my ribs seem to be hurting less thankfully7 -
For yesterday,
Early start but lit a candle and read my book with she who must be obeyed snuggled next to me.
Finally got round to putting the new blind up at en-suite window, it’s only been sitting in the spare room for a month 🙈
The BS etc Wellington was a great success and we have enough leftovers for today.
Filling up the bird feeders and we have crocuses beginning to come up under the apple tree.
Cold afternoon walk but lovely to come home to a warm house and a hot cup of tea.7 -
Morning all 😊
Lie in yesterday morning followed by egg and bacon for breakfast.
Took OHs mum to cinema to see One Life, very good.
Had left over from Boxing Day boeuf bourginon, delicious reheated, with M&S dauphinois potatoes, cauliflower cheese and peas and a nice bottle of red. Followed by mince pie and Baileys. It felt very luxurious and better than any meals we had out! Twig lights and wax melt burner on, feet up and watched Antiques Roadshow and the last episode of Mr Bates, nice evening.
It’s very chilly but the house feels warmer with all the radiators now working.
I sold another item on Vinted, the fourth to date, so I may pop into Lidls for a top up shop as the postal lockers are there.
Have a great Monday everyone, keep warm 😊7 -
Hello. Up and out early with the dog, was crunchy underfoot. That’s all thawed and is wet and it’s to freeze tonight so it think may be slippy rather than crunchy tomorrow. We’ll see at 5am
Today I’ve just pottered around tidying/cleaning/sorting. Have another bag in the boot for the charity shop. And stuff in bin and recycled. Pulled cushions of sofa as and hoovered them. Pulled sofas out. Hello tennis balls !Washed kitchen drawers. Kitchen shelves( have open shelving) cooker hood.Helped an older neighbour carry something home. Had a nice chat.Sorted through wardrobes and drawers. Some for charity and Put three things on Vinted. Sold one literally within 2 minutes of adding it. So put my coat on and walked to local shop that takes the parcels.Call from the plumber on the way back to say he was at mine so said I’d just be a few minutes. I now have new taps in the downstairs loo. They had stopped working. And shower has been re-sealed! And absolutely stinks! For some reason the stop c-ock ( see if that’s allowed) was put in behind a cupboard in my laundry room when I got my extension. Anyway to reach that the washing machine needed pulled out. So I hoovered and washed the floor ( which wasn’t as bad as I’d feared…mainly dog kibble!) And jobs all done and dog had a good belly rub too! I think he’d more work to do than expected and it was less than I’d expected so that worked out in my favour I think and 2 jobs ticked off the list!Made a curried mince and veggies with rice for my tea.7 -

Feeling literally heavy hearted as our old lad, Kit of Kit and Kat, passed away suddenly in the early hours this morning. He was 8 years old, we had him for all but 8 weeks of them when he/they were born from a rescue of others. The house feels very subdued without him tapping us on the leg, demanding his treats or cuddles, but I take comfort that he’s together again with his brother Kat and many friends, a few candles lit tonight and not a dry eye.
1 Very much a cba day of food, oven pizza lunch, and chicken kiev and oven chips tonight.
2 The snow turned into heavier flurries, very mesmerising, I topped up all the bird feeders and the wagtail was very appreciative.
3 I started re reading the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe, from a childhood set I kept.
4 I’ve just booked on a couple of fitness classes next week, I’m going to try a box fit class, and I’m gong to re start swimming in Feb once I’ve built up a little fitness, I used to swim a lot, but it just kind of fell away. Once I get a bit more confidence, I might then try an aqua aerobics class.
5 Looking back over some of Kit and Kats antics in photos and videos and downright laughing, a great life, my last photo of him is on this last New Years Eve, snaffling anything left on the chinese takeaway ribs.

Evening all.
Another quick five, I need my bed:
1) Woke up early-ish so coffee and the online papers while hubby took my car for an early doors MOT - it passed, a big pleasure.
2) Pottered about sorting and organising and generally getting my house into some sort of post-festivities order. Love Monday mornings at home.
3) Started our lunchtime walks and talks again with my bairn, did very well considering I was MIA for a good five weeks with the dreaded lurgy so am very out of condition. A bit slower than normal and my legs felt a bit jelly-like afterwards but I made it! Slightly longer than normal route too as called into the surgery to book my second shingles jab.
4) Lovely parcel of new wool arrived in the post.
5) A lovely relaxing afternoon of knitting and reading with regular cups of tea provided by hubby then very easy but yummy tea of leftovers from the freezer, Dauphinoise potatoes from yesterday (which used up the last of the cream) and fresh veg.
Off to bed with my book now. Night night, sleep well.
