Good morning. Bit wild here and very rainy but nowhere near as bad as further north. Hope everyone is snug and safe inside.
Ampersand - don't you start being naughty!. It's kind to let people help you. I'm sure there are many eager to repay past favours.
DH went out with his friend yesterday morning so I got on with housewotk. It definitely needed 'bottoming' as my gran would have said. I'm not a big fan of housework, but I don't like it if I don't feel on top of it. Much better now.
Started making plans for our wreath making session in December and given DH a list of plants he is forbidden to cut back before then. There's not much gardening going on anyway between him feeling washed out by treatment and then bad weather ( I'm very much a fair weather gardener)
Trying to plan a weekend away for December. We deserve a treat! And I enjoy planning but daren't book just yet. We're on the East Coast mainline so either London or Edinburgh are very easy to get to. And we have our railcard for the rest of this year so maybe.....
Happy Friday everyone. Stay safe in the storm x

Enjoy that new kitchen Frith
For yesterday,
Horsey town for an emporium trip, no coffee but did pick up two very rtc chocolate choux buns for an afternoon treat.
Unexpected cheque in post from one of the pension companies.
Home, made a batch of chicken soup from remains of weekend roast and generally pottered around in kitchen tidying & sorting through cupboards, found some dried spices with exp date of 2014, bit old even for me!My friend turned up with her mobile dog grooming van and small dog had her tidy up, Capt S and I sneaked the cakes while the guilt inducing spaniel eyes were elsewhere.
Another appointment for small dog, this time at the vets for her monthly injection and check up, she had put on a bit of weight after consecutive months of losing so pleased with that. She barked for post-injection treat.8 -
Ampersand - wot Happycas said...
DD - stay safe
Pleasures for Wednesday
1. a day out with OH. We went to Bolsover Castle and Hardwicke Hall
2. Had lunch in the first and afternoon tea in the second (if a cuppa and a quarter of scone counts as afternoon tea - i'm not that fond of scones..)
3. The weather stayed sensible.
4. Home to a warm fire and OH cooked tea (salmon for me, lamb for the menfolk)
5. Watched 'King RIchard' with OH and DS. Enjoyed it.
and yesterday
1. Voted in the by-election. For once, my vote actually counted!
2. out for lunch with friend.
3. Drove to ICT - a good drive despite LOTS of weather
4. Took my dinner with me so Fish Pie was had.
5. By-election result (at 3.00 in the morning - i'd woken up and so checked)
and today
1. a swim with friend
2. who came back for coffee
3. two lots of laundry done - hope it dries
4. OH on his way
5. Steak for tea - when he arrives.
Have a great evening allI wanna be in the room where it happens7 -
Hello. Came upstairs to hoover!Wild and windy but dry here.Up early though slept through which is unusual.
Pup dropped off. Hurrah for it being Friday. He is lovely but it’s been a long puppy week! We’ve not been able to do our usual walks as I can’t ( won’t even try) manage the two of them.
Anyway the day passed.
A washing hung out with at least 4 pegs on each item. And mostly dried. Just hung up on clothes horse to finish off.Waved a one farewell to a pup and his mother. See ya! ( just not too soon)
Parcel came from Vinted of new to me Fly London shoes and they fit perfectly! At about a tenth of the buy new in a shop price! For my new work outfits!Finished watching Beckham on Netflix. Actually surprised myself and quite enjoyed watching it. Now on to a crime drama called Bodies.Enjoying just me and my doggy’s company!DD hope all is well x9 -
Mhags, new work outfits...sounds like something new and exciting.
1 The new flooring looks wonderful, we have enough leftover to do the bathroom, much to dh’s dismay.
2 Popped into Aldi as we are out of bread, and happened to be there as the meat was being marked 50 percent off so we did snaffle and portion up.
3 Re did tonight’s food which is now burger, a tonne of salad and bun.
4 Waiting to hear back on a second-hand freezer that’s come up.
5 Spotting a teeny tiny mouse that was desperate for food, on the outside not the inside I hasten to add.

2) still decluttering the house - every room is getting better bit by bit which is very satisfying
3) a finishing up supper - very nice
4) as ipswich game postponed let DrM know i wouldn't be coming to the pub - he replied he'd stay home watch GW instead
5) watched GW with mum - gorgeous Japanese garden - then HIGNFY out with the dogs who complained so very very short and now in bed
The storm continues to storm till about 7 tomorrow morning - haircut at 8 so that's goodMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep, despite the storm. Floods everywhere and one death locally where someone tried to save their dog who had gone into a stream.
2) Picked up Mr U at 9.30 and sat in Sainsburys cafe for a while.
3) My banking app barely works on my phone but managed to pay for the kitchen window by phoning them then to pay the kitchen fitter by phoning the bank.
4) Did a mosque run as it was raining so hard. Had to remember not to touch anyone until after they had been. It is difficult to sit on your hands whilst driving!
5) An afternoon with Mr U.
6) Picked my housemate up from work then, rather randomly, we went out in a group to watch My Fair Lady at the local theatre. It was very good and looked professional but I was so tired.
7) Just got back and neither of us had eaten so we had toast, peanut butter, honey and banana.8
