For yesterday,
Up early for a cuppa and small dogs toilet needs, then we took our tea back to bed and read for a while.
In the garden and buddleia cut back by half to prevent autumn winds breaking branches, it will be cut down to ground in spring.
At the yard, warm & sunny afternoon. Set up a jump and equine girlie got very excited going over it, then a sedate walk around the farm with my pal & her horse.
Local farmer dropped off a meat box, quality product and good value without lining already considerable pockets of supermarkets. Plus it all fit in the freezer!
Tea was green Thai curry plus naan, glass of beer with.8 -
Morning everyone.
Thank you so much for the kind words and concern, it's been a tough week but I am very aware a lot have it a lot tougher so need to stay positive and all will ultimately be well.
Lainey - no words to say, brothers are very special, yours still is, what a gap our loved ones leave behind.
Recent pleasures:
1) Glorious weather yesterday, warm and sunny but with that lovely hint of mellow that a lovely autumn day does so well. Sat in the garden and sadly finished my book - it's in my top five books ever, totally mesmerising on many levels and the writing was sublime.
2) Two long dentist visits but amazingly she has fixed my front tooth and it looks and feels just fine. Not easy for either of us but done. Phew!
3) Face is starting to respond to the meds, not so red and swollen. My eyes are stil a bit puffed up but nowhere near as bad as they were. Still having the weird dreams that go with the meds but I'll finish them soon.
4) Been keeping an eye on hubby. He is still coughing, maybe not quite as much but otherwise he is ok. He looks well, is doing as much as he always did and is his usual cheerful self so we will see. Still awaiting notification of this test thing he has to do.
5) Had a big cuddle with smallest grandson, hadn't seen him all week due to being not well. Gorgeous boy!
Another quiet day in store for us which will do nicely. Hope you enjoy your Sunday.

Currently listening to Cricket - India v Oz, after World🏉Cup marathon yesterday. Final Pool stage matches today, but Zoom Church first.👍🙂🙏
1. First pain-free slept-through night since BROH discharge! Admitted a fortnight ago today,💞🙏👍👌.
2. Reading more of E.H. Young's 1930 'Miss Mole', intricately written and observed, has & often pausing, gazing into middle distance and thinking, then resuming. It's a 'not a single word can be skipped' piece of work, needing extra concentration in &'s wartime edition, with its tiny font and tight lineage, which somehow match and marry with author's writing, if that makes sense.😁
3. Happy brekkie brought back to bed, after kitchen window sunrise, trees and grapevine gazing.
4. Confident anticipation of tomorrow's first wound inspection post-surgery.
5. Long call yesterday from old CS colleague.
6. Multi-msg'g throughout ALL of yesterday's matches with Ireland supporter LP friend and others. With former, left things on ' 🖤🤍🏉vs💚🧡🏉 next week' note,😁. On verra, big time!

👌Thara1966 - ditto DD's compliment re: your post. Succinct, yet fulsome.....unlike my rambling.😁

I obviously fell asleep before posting yesterday! For Saturday.A very early doggy who thought it was breakfast time at 4.30am…he was assured it was not with a you’re too early!6am was a better time for breakfast and a puppy got fed then too, though he doesn’t normally get up till 7am. So everyone’s timings were wrong! The chap left for work and DD2 and I stayed in our respective beds ! I got up and she didn’t,
Went as far as supermarket.
Then was asked a favour so did that for a friend. It just rained constantly yesterday. Opposite end of town had flooding. Luckily didn’t have to go that way but could see river was very high.DD2 got up for a bit and made her some porridge and gave her three Tupperware cereal tubs to take home and three storage tins. They left just after 7pm and my dog and I let out a big sigh and switched on to Strictly.Today.More rain but not as incessant.Went to supermarket in town ( was going to fill up with petrol) and got a whole load of veg RTC. And some sausages. So they’re in the freezer.
Also got a big box of soap powder ( not the huge one I would normally get but don’t really need that now!) I probably only wash 2-3 loads a week now compared to every day. So don’t need as much. Then into my local supermarket to get dog food. Big bag is obviously more cost effective but because he’d been a poorly boy in the summer I had t wanted to buy usual 12kg bag so last few weeks have just been getting a 3kg bag. 12kg bag was price of 3 x 3kg bags. And got another couple of boxes of my bad habit drink as it’s on special this week. So quite an expensive day but will be cheaper in the long run!Home and wrote a list of things to do. And I’ve just finished the last one which was wash floors.Filled a couple of bags for charity that I’ll get dropped off this week.Texts back and forth with friends.Just been nice pottering around. I’m liking my reclaimed Sundays!8 -
There are days when coming up with 5 pleasures in the day are hard.
1. I woke up.
2. I got up and fed 4 animals - 3 cats, 1 dog.
3. I read the threads on MSE.
4. That's it - especially after I looked at the headlines for the news.
5. Oh, and it is still sunny here, only supposed to be 27C.
Still tired from Covid, roommates still a problem (but one is doing the dishes for me as I sliced open my finger yesterday on the torn screen door). Have to replace the screen as soon as possible as I have cut myself five times so far on it, at least I got my tetanus shot a couple of months ago. Bills are somewhat paid up to date, so I might be able to use a credit card to pay for the screen. Maybe that can be 4 above and just stay away from the news entirely - till after the election in 2026 (the 2024 one might be settled by then).

Highdays - i frequently dream of my parents. I hope you get to the point of "It's nice to see them" (while still missing them of course)

I wanna be in the room where it happens7 -
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) 6.5 hours to take 60 year old maroon paint off ONE WALL of my bedroom today. Pleasure is that it is a step forward to being finished.
3) 2 of my friends from Park Run came round before lunch.
4) Another friend came round after lunch and he will come back and put the curtain poles up for me!
5) Lovely weather.
6) Waiting to watch Gone Fishing at 9.8 -
Recent pleasures:
holiday washing all done and dried thanks to the warm, dry weather (unlike the awful weather in Scotland ☹️). I had the brainwave of putting my holiday clothes, towels etc back in the case which is stored on top of the wardrobe and freeing up some much needed space in the wardrobes. Must get round to decluttering!
Picked tomatoes and a few runner beans and removed the finished plants. Some tomato 🍅 plants still producing.
Butternut squash success this year from the few seeds I planted, they rampage across the waste bit at the end of the garden and encroach on the veg patch but on cutting them back and removing loads of foliage to let the sun in, I found five ripening fruits. Left them to hopefully ripen more, lots of spicy soup and curries to come!
Made kokkinisto 🇬🇷 in the ninja slow cooker and Greek lemony roast potatoes to recreate OHs favourite holiday food, came out great.Have a good Monday all 😊8
