Hi everyone.
Been a damp and blustery day here with quite a bit of rain and some rolling clouds. Very autumnal but not the best of.
Pleasures few and far between but here goes:
1) We are both poorly sick again, seems we never properly recover before we are laid low again. Not much pleasure but I have my emergncy meds so am back on them and hubby managed to get a Dr's appointment this morning, now has to do a flow test which is good because they've fobbed him off with nose sprays just too many times. In the meantime we are back in the slow lane and cancelled one of this week's days out, just hope we are a bit better for next week's trip.
2) Did get to the local shopping centre this afternoon to pick up an order and to do a bit of fresh fruit and veg shopping, made a change to get out of the house for a couple of hours.
3) Treated ourselves to a cream cake to have with a cuppa when we got home - naughty but nice!
4) Noticed how the trees are changing colour when we were out, seems to have happened very suddenly but that might be because we haven't been out to notice. Beautiful colours, the year is starting to hunker down towards winter now.
5) Pretty much sorted my Christmas get-together menu. Will have a trial run of the main courses later this week and will see how they freeze and reheat. Just one more pudding to think about - white chocolate cheesecake with berry compote and my best-ever sticky toffee pudding with extra toffee sauce are on the menu so far but need a third,,,,will think that one over in the next day or so. Getting pretty excited already!
Right, off to bed now, I tend to sleep well on these meds but have some pretty vivid dreams so will see what happens!

Good morning. Dark now at my usual get up time.
DfV - by my reckoning the diet should be over by Christmas. Do hope so. Nobody wants to be eating kale in the festive season
P Kitten - ouch to poor Kit's head! But very pleased he's getting better.
Highdays - oh dear. Not a good year for you. Get well quickly before the next family fun break.
Suffolk Sue - missing you! Did you get a date for your op yet? Don't suppose the strikes are helping with that.
Like Ampersand, DH is doing as he's told for once. And, fingers crossed, it seems to be working. No after effects from the treatment, apart from feeling tired. Such a relief.
Trying to buy new jeans! Ugh! So many styles/ lengths/fits. Last pair I bought have so much stretch, they're two sizes bigger after 10 minutes wear. Very comfy though😂 Bought a size smaller this week and they're too short ( says long on the label) so they're going back. Try again!
Still reading World of Curiosities. I'm normally a very quick reader but with Louise Penny I have to keep stopping to absorb things. And occasionally Google and learn a lot.
Our weather is all over the place. Whatever I wear is too hot/too cold an hour later. Layers!
Happy grey day everyone6 -
Looking good Frith.
Rest up and hope you both feel better soon Highdays.
For yesterday,
Woke up early hours, heard the rain lashing against the window and was pleased to think that my horse was warm & dry, snuggled up in her stable.
A much dryer morning, went over to the yard with the intention of riding but girlie was clearly in season so a little gentle groundwork instead then took her back out to the field where we shared an apple. Then I just stood and let my mind wander while she grazed around me, my place of peace.
Lovely chat with my friend.
Quietly busy afternoon, few surveys and made a loaf.
Bittersweet pleasure, small dog was so fast asleep when we went to go up to bed that for a few seconds I couldn’t rouse her, could see her chest moving but no reaction, my own heart seemed to stop in my chest! She slowly woke up but was so disoriented that she couldn’t make it up the stairs by herself so her Dad carried her up. This morning she is running around like a two year old 🥰8 -

Lovely flowers &. Hope you’re feeling better and more than “managing” soon.Last full day of our lovely holiday in Lesvos. Weather was very hot the first week, cooler and windy this week but still lovely sunshine 🌞. Long day tomorrow as our flight isn’t until 7.30 pm. Not sure what time we have to vacate our room, but no more flights coming in now. Time for one more dinner and one more lunch 🇬🇷. Then back on diet 🤣😊7

Hello. Lashing with rain and has been since about midday.Up very early. Then dozed off them didn’t wake till 7.45am which is very late for me .
Went to beach. Was ever so blustery and wild and my face was getting nipped with rain! But we had the whole beach to ourselves and tide was so far out!Stopped at a garden centre on way home. They had such a lovely autumnal display but I was very restrained and didn’t buy! Then did a mercy dash for the poorly people. Supermarket and pharmacy. Dropped off.And home and met a neighbour/friend as I just pulled in drive so had a nice chat with them. Then the rain came on in earnest!Heating on about 2pm as it was just yukky and cold . Had a snoozette! With a very weird dream!Had a roll and cheese for my tea which was very nice ! Didn’t need a big tea.And dark at 7.20pm …blah!7 -
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Finished some rough edges in the spare room. Just a drip of blue paint left now.
3) Went to a nearby cafe (in what we used to call a Portakabin, in our local park) which is staffed by children from the nearby special school. Had a cup of tea and a sausage sandwich.
4) Washed the paint trays. Tidied a bit. Second load of washing on.
5) All exciting at 2pm when I went into town for my friend's birthday. We met another friend there. Bumped into two more friends! We had a pot of tea in M and S.
6) Had a magnificent haul at the charity shops afterwards. 2 Seasalt long sleeved t shirts for sons. Next velvety trousers for me plus a Manta Ray cotton top. THEN... brand new dark blue curtains, just the right width for smaller son's room !
7) Got home and the Ebay curtains had arrived and they will be perfect for the living room window. (All the windows are colossal).
8) Mowed the lawns.
9) Smaller son helped me with the curtains. We took the 1980s curtains down in his room. I showed him how you pull the threads and the curtain pleats. Sadly, I didn't know the other end so pulled the threads all the way through and nearly out of the curtain... Anyway, I have just hung one curtain for now and it looks better and will block the light.7 -
1 After a bad night feeling a bit better than I was.
2 Washing hung out on the line, feeling smug.
3 Leftovers was lunch, lo curry in tomato soup tastes amazing. Tea will be chicken breast, veg and something,
4 Kit is doing amazingly, and rather likes his drugs, I suspect he relates it to pain relief after.
5 Arranging my car insurance, life lessons learned not going for the cheapest, and I sadly missed the renewal sweet spot annoyingly, so made a note for next year.
For today1 A lovely visit to the in-laws
2 I didn’t take the car insurance deal and found a better deal today.
3 The best welcome home from the animals.
4 At home in the warm, an overlooked pleasure sometimes.
5 Travelling around was nice and easy, just one diversion this time.
