5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Good evening.
A lovely day was had here, just in from my summerhouse and it's still warm with a lovely clear darkening sky. The storm never really arrived in our neck of the woods after all the panicking in the press!
Goodness, &, obviously had no idea but wish you the very speediest of recoveries. What a shock for you but it sounds as if you have been well cared for.
Today's pleasures:
1) A lovely home-based day after a quite busy week feeling somewhat exhausted and under the weather. Much better now and cracking on with stuff. Made the third and final Christmas cake today, all fed and snuggled up cosily to mature and do their thing for a couple of months.
2) Hubby had his flu jab yesterday so we are all up to date. Managed to get a few bits of shopping ticked off the list while we were out and about, every little helps.
3) Did a logistics trial run for the Christmas 'do' we are hosting. There will be 10 of us - at the mo - it could go up to 15. I can get everyone around my extended table but wasn't sure in the 'new' house how that would work. Needn't have panicked, it works fine. Can now relax and look forward to it, ridiculously starting to feel quite festive - oh dear!!!!
4) A lovely afternoon in my summerhouse with the doors open and the sun streaming in. Did a bit of 'arty' stuff then read my book - ironically called Sycamore Gap, second in the series based in Northumbria where we have recently been on holiday. No pleasure, obviously, in the wilful destruction of a beautiful tree:(
5) Had a quick clean and tidy up ready for our Curry Night. Our turn to host, food is ordered and should be here about 8ish. We have ordered, I think, way more that the four of us can manage but it is so delicious we will be fighting over the leftovers and not a scrap will go to waste.
Right, can't see the table at the mo under a load of clutter so will go and get sorted, starting to feel pretty peckish.
Hope you all have a good evening.

Hello from a nice quiet peaceful home.
Pup this morning from 8am… have a quieter week next week then have committed to the following fortnight! Sigh! Just as well he’s cute!I usually take a photo of the two dogs together for Instagram but this morning H was not playing ball at all! He was just nah not doing it! But the puppy said I’ll sit nice and look handsome and he did! Was funny 😄
Tidied the laundry room…well it’s tidy and the stuff is everywhere else! There was a damp smell that I wasn’t sure where it was coming from so everything was moved out, window opened and candle on.Pup picked up earlier than normal which was nice. Hag and I let out a big sigh of relief and really haven’t done much else since!Caught up on some stuff on iPlayer and that’s about it!& remember to do as you’re told! And not to be in too much of a rush to get back to normal biz.9 -
Good to hear about the decent and speedy intervention, @ampersand. Was it Woodlands, by the way? I always liked my appointments there, waving my wonky arm at them.
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to the coffee morning at the theatre down the road. Played 2 games of Reversi. Might have a new recruit from there for the volunteering I do elsewhere.
3) Went to M and S, but not for long as my friend had finished Friday prayers so phoned me.
4) Picked my friend up, came back here for a cup of tea.
5) Bigger son and his girlfriend were here. He is 23 today! They played badminton in the garden and my friend and my planned cup of tea became a pot of tea with cakes and present opening.
6) Went to bigger son's house for more cake and the rest of my family were there.
7) Nice wraps for tea.
8) Went to Wildlife Club. It is not really handy for me now, as it is in the village hall where I used to live! Went to my old neighbour's house to pick up my post and the passageway to get there is the same one for my old house so I was able to have a look at my old garden. Literally nothing done to it for 2 months since I moved, so it looked very sorry for itself.
9) Must do some Arabic now.
One irritation today was that smaller son's birthday was 2 months ago. No card from his father (not unusual and they haven't met for nearly 6 years). Today (bigger son's birthday) he finally received a birthday card, with a message scrawled across the envelope in large capital letters that it was 2 months late because he "didn't know our new address". As though he couldn't have given the card to bigger son at any point over the last 2 months...8 -
Sounds like you have been well looked after & concur on instructions to rest and recuperate.
For yesterday,
Bit of a lazier start as Capt S on a days holiday.
Drove across the Breckland of Norfolk to visit Attleborough and the lovely Peter Beales rose nursery & gardens, wonderful hour or so spent wandering looking, smelling and finally deciding on two shrub plants for our front garden. Small dog not only permitted but given two treats by smitten staff, can heartedly recommend for anyone in the area.Quick search brought up dog friendly pub in area, warm & sunny so sat in the beer garden and shared a sandwich plus bowl of chips.
Rest of day spent pottering, reading and just being together.
An orange harvest moon rising just above the tree line, last super moon of the year.7 -
Let’s see if I can type really quickly before my charge runs out!Up early enough.Skinny club. Lost 2lb
Walk round park and gathered conkers.Home and grabbed my doggy and we had a lovely walk.
Meant to go straight to supermarket but was in the wrong lane so dropped him off first then went out quickly. Was down to the last scoop of dog food.Met a friend as I drove back in to drive so had a lovely catch up with them.
Then went out with DD2 and the puppy. Gathered more conkers, love them but think I may have enough 😆
Home just as rain started. So fire was lit and we got our cosy on this evening.
Had leftover chilli with rice for tea.Watched Strictly.A good day.7 -
1. Thankyou all - am actually doing as told! Will not do anything to put this very special surgeon's wonderful work at risk. Re-reading Sepsis Watch docs too. Really important.
2. Trailer loaned to friend of birds with broken wings. They are moving and their helping friend has towbar. & prays this works for them. Their hearts are good.
3. Much rugby and golf listening. Right now, it's the dread Mr Barnes overseeing Scotland v Romania, which & spells Roumania....surely. Golf may be ⛳ round ball, but my word!....total tension and totally for Europe, bien sûr!
4. Eating well, inc. good protein, again as told, to aid quick healing. Ditto, being Deliberate Lazybones, for same reason.😁
5. Pk - all hopes for your surgery asap, best wishes for your little chap and re: friend.

Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Park Run. 1 conversation in Arabic. Several in English. Nice cakes.
3) Went to B and Q for the fourth (and final?) tub of filler.
4) Another run to the tip.
5) Took 2 friends to the football match they were playing in in floody town.
6) Smaller son and I went to watch our team's football match. They lost 2-1. They are bottom of the league.
7) I dusted down the spare room walls then filled the gap between the walls and ceiling.
8) Measured the windows ready to look for charity shop curtains.
9) Phoned my school friend.
The unsuitable man imploded in his unsuitableness. Always manipulative and game playing with me but I had enough energy this evening to screenshot some of his earlier messages and send them to him. When you stand back from his drama, it's quite clear to see how he operates.8 -
For yesterday,Rough night ( often happens with a full moon ) but small lie-in and coffee & croissants for breakfast certainly helped.
Spent rest of morning with equine pal, she was sleepy in the warm autumn sunshine but we got a little work done then went for an “on the buckle” walk down the road. When we got back she was eager to go in her stable ( currently out 24/7 ) but once she’d seen that there actually wasn’t a large net of juicy hay waiting for her she soon lost interest and was happy to go back out in her field. Picked a few blackberries which we shared.
Home and the most I did was make a loaf.
Listened to the footie and a hard earned point for Utd on the road.
Payday treat of Chinese takeaway, can’t get into Strictly this year as for some reason I’m finding the over the top lovey doviness especially tiring so caught up on quizzes and then played a few games of Yahtzee.7 -
Hello all - i seem to be spectacularly bad at posting of late.

4. good day yesterday - logging, meetings, out for dinner including a bike ride in the pouring rain each way but, cos i was correctly togged up, i remained largely dry

Laters.I wanna be in the room where it happens7 -
Went to beach as soon as it was light this morning. We’d such a great walk.
Went to supermarket at beach town and was delighted that they had flowers RTC for 35p for lovely chrysanthemums and £1.50 for a lovely hand tied bouquet.
Home and pottered around. It’s been a lovely day.9
