Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Cooked all the apples from our tree in the jam kettle. They are now bagged up and in the freezer.
3) Went to town for fuse wire.
4) Bigger son came over on his bike and changed the fuse wire for me. We now have lighting downstairs. He also secured the legs properly on the new armchair.
5) Put the old 1960s kitchen cupboard on Ebay.
6) Went out to the Greek cafe with bigger son for lunch.
7) Went to the tip so all the rubbish was gone from the front garden at last. I have generated some more since then!
8) Went to M and S for a pot of tea and some Arabic.
9) Spent an hour or so stripping layers of wallpaper glue off the walls of the spare room.
10) Went to watch our football team. Another loss but a much better game.9 -
Love Donna Ashworth Mhags
For yesterday,
Another mild day, we did have a delivery of heating oil so winter prepping.
With equine girlie, lunged her in the sunshine and she was a bit woohoo after a couple of days off.
Not OS but I had a money off code so splurged on a new winter coat, the one I had ooh’d over last week and it arrived in the post, so so pleased and can’t remember the last time I had a new coat.
Sloggus domesticus and much rehoming of dust & spiders.
New series of GBBO and a celebratory cake!

Exited by Exeter BOP back to the drawing board
1) met the new PGR students (mix of PhD, MRes and MD) which was lovely
2) needed to spend 30 minutes between meetings to get from Ninewells campus to city campus so mse joys here were the brie and cranberry sarnie I ate top of the bus
3) having a lovely chat with a boy with his gran due to strike action - he was overjoyed his brother (older) was in school as the school had prioritised the older years
4) great meeting in the afternoon - privileged to be asked as external by another school as they revise their teaching offering and a nice break from technology and timetabling vjsmum
5) Man Utd game with DrM and the ceilidh music - lots of students inMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Good morning. Sunny too!
P Kitten - thank goodness someone listening to you at last.
M hagster - a proper adventure !
Sorted my autumn display. Sounds posh but really a vase of alstromeria (sp?) and dahlias from the garden and my pumpkins made over the last few years. Thought I had more but keep giving them away so only 3 left. Now making a crochet one to top them up. Was pleased I remembered my hand tied bouquet skills from the floristry course too.
Fish pie for tea yesterday. My favourite. I struggle not to overeat but managed to save one portion for the freezer. Remembered my mum used to do extra mash potato then mix it all up to make fish cakes. Think I'll try that when I get the pie out again.
Watched the new series of Virgin River. Only 10 episodes so rattled through. Worth watching for the scenery. I've also started watching Homeland. Bit late to that party, I know.
Meeting friends for lunch today so don't have to think about cooking.
Happy Wednesday everyone

Hello.
Battened down the hatches ready for the imminent storm, nothing so far thank goodness.
Some pleasures:
1) Still a bit waffy but some progress has been made in a few directions.
2) Made and fed and then wrapped the second Christmas cake, one more to go. Also made and froze a white chocolate cheesecake as a start for our family Christmas 'do'. There'll be a lot to do nearer the time so trying to get a bit done and ticked off the list as and when I can.
3) To our favourite garden centre for winter-flowering pansiers for the tubs. All the Christmas stuff is out in the gift shop, far too early but couldn't resist a qiuick peek. Bits bought to tuck away for 'difficult' pressies so very pleased about that, also some 'special people' cards which are pretty much all I send these days and a lovely new wreath for our gate as the old one is virtually in shreds. So a good haul and a few things off the list - but it's still too early! Oh, and we bought the pansies too! Got the tubs planted and out when we got home.
4) Son came in to remind me it's our monthly Curry Night on Friday. Looking forward to this very much, good food and good company, and only a door to go through to get home afterwards so some good wine too. A nice new 'tradition'.
5) Delicious homemade cake (oops!) was consumed at the garden centre so tea will be late and very quick and easy. Good, as am starting to flag now but very pleased to have done more today than I have for quite a while.
Right, hubby is looking a bit peckish so we will prep something quick and easy to eat and sit down for a bit.
Hope you have a good evening and stay safe in the storms.8 -
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Got to the hotel at 10 to help someone open a bank account. Had a nice chat with the security guards. Waited. Texted him. He said he was in reception. Laughed about that. The guard went to the right numbered room then came back and said a different man was in there. How funny. Then I realised I was in the wrong hotel... Texted the man and told him I was an idiot. Drove to the other hotel. Did all the paperwork without incident!
3) Went to M and S for a pot of tea and to do some Arabic.
4) Went to Dunelm to take a lampshade back (vital part missing) and bought 2 which means every light in the house finally has a lampshade.
5) Spent hours and hours working in the spare room. I took all the wallpaper off a couple of weeks ago but it has take 4 days (!) to chip off the glue that was underneath. I've never seen anything like it. It looked like something to hold tiles on and each bit had to be chipped off...Filled holes and cracks until I ran out of filler.
6) Saw my neighbour through the window upstairs (I was standing on a chair, trowel in hand) so we had a chat with me shouting down at her.
7) Took smaller son to Sainsburys.
Many very charming messages from Mr U.8 -
Highdays, it's just getting a bit blustery now over in Kent, I think Wales had about 60mph gusts.
Ampersand, are you in hosp?
1 I’ve just found out about making detergent from conkers, has anyone here tried it all? I am very tempted to give it a try, any excuse to collect conkers.
2 We had to return my Christmas watch as it had stopped under warranty, which meant going into a shopping centre, we wandered around and stopped for a cuppa at Greggs, which promptly ran out of tea I mean how is that even possible, so I was meant to have peppermint.
3 We went over to the range for a toasted panini for lunch, we wandered around the Christmas decorations, I picked up a couple of spice packs to experiment with.
4 Went to Costco for a couple of their offers, and picked up a couple of uncooked pizzas as they had money off, we then portion into the freezer, after having had a couple of slices for tea.
5 The moon is looking amazing, even thou it’s not full yet, it looks it.
Not a pleasure, just part and parcel of having animals in the family, our ferret Kit, of Kit and Kat is getting ready to break our hearts, I know he’s had an amazing life, but I will always want it to be longer, now thou he has been washed, has snuggles and ferret friends, and is literally demanding ferret treats, so we will see what the night brings.

Good morning. I seem to have slept all night regardless of the bluster outside. It’s our bin day so I’ve just checked it’s still there and it is!For yesterday:
DD2 was staying overnight so she was going out with pup…oh can you feed H? So I didn’t need to get up!Then they left and we had peace…
…kind of peace. I write a blog. I’d mentioned what I’d done on Tuesday night and who I’d been to see and it all went a bit crazy as she responded and so do lots of people I don’t know ( all in a very positive way!)
Anyway doggy and I took ourselves to the castle where internet reception is atrocious. We had a lovely walk. Still dry and not too windy at that point. Watched a heron land atop a tall tree. Just being there is so peaceful.
Home and pottered around. Had the last of my soup for lunch.Went to get pup at his doggy daycare. Went in and had a blether. Left with a book to read, which coincidentally was by one of the people who’d commented on my blog post. Which was a bit weird as I hadn’t heard of her before the morning!DD2 was at hairdressers so I had the pup till she got in at 8pm but after a daft five minutes both doggies just shared a sofa with me. All curled up.And then they left and my dog boy and I said what a day and went to bed!7
