For yesterday,
Another warm & sunny day, makes the summer last a little bit longer.
Into horsey town for food shop, no friend so didn’t stop for coffee.
Spent the afternoon at the yard, worked my girl in the school but it was warm in the sunshine and think we both felt a tad lethargic so nice to have a walk around the paddocks with my pal & her horse. One spooky moment when there was a horse eating pheasant in the field next to the track but we all survived!
Driving away and there was a young hare on the verge next to my car, long legged beauty.
Uni Challenge then the next episode of the Long Shadow, tough watch and not just because of its subject matter but also because of the general attitude towards women at that time.8 -
Morning everyone.
A quick drop in as we are away now for a few days in the Cotswolds with my brothers and sisters-in-law, really looking forward to the break and a good catch up.
Just wanted to wish topsy's son a speedy recovery - a tough time for both of you, he's really been through the mill and of course our bairns take us through it with them!
Happycas - good to hear hubby is coping well with his treatment, definitely with you on the comfort eating! Speedy book recommendations - I'm enjoying the LJ Ross series of DCI Ryan mysteries. Started them as they are based in Northumberland where we had been on hoiday. There are 20 in the series so they'd keep you going for a while and are good but not too taxing on the brain so a nice L Penny sort of read. The first one is called Holy Island. If you want a 'deeper' read, I have just finished This Other Eden by Paul Harding which is a truly remarkable book, the writing is just incredible. I am just starting another of his, Tinkers, so hope it compares well. Have you read the Helen Grace books by MJ Arlidge, the later ones not so good (in my opinion) but the earlier ones, Eeny Meeny, Pop Goes the Weasel, etc were gripping, grittier than Louise P. but well worth a read.
Right, must dash - could talk books for hours but my bags are packed, I'm ready to go.........
Have a good week, will catch up soon.

Now I've read all Louise Penny ( most of them twice) I'm stuck! Any suggestions? I like Elly Griffiths but I've read all her Ruth Galloway ones and not too keen on the Brighton ones. Mo Hayder is too gory/ graphic for me. Any ideas gratefully received.Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin8 -
Ooh thank you all so much. I've started a new page in.my journal ( sounds posh but it's really a cross between a diary and a to do list) headed Book Recommendations and shall slowly work my way through them all. Both Louise Penny and Ellie Griffiths I first heard about on here so I have high hopes.
Thank you S Sue, Ampersand, Highdays and Brambling. Lots to go at there xx7 -
Have any of you used the website Stopyourekillingme? It lists thousands of mystery writers and the books they have written by series and date written so you can follow in order. The site can be searched by author or by character and has links to author's websites. Elly Griffiths is on there and it shows which books are in which series and who the primary characters are in each series.9

Wee Nancy, you triggered something I'd forgotten all about,😃. Lovely Sabine in Town of Gown Central Library introduced me to it years ago.

Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Slept overnight on the floor of the spare room, as mine was still dusty from sanding. No curtain, a street light outside, different surroundings - and I woke up at 9.50 !
2) Scraped more paint off in my room, filled more holes. Took the hoover and steamer outside and cleaned and washed them thoroughly.
3) Took my friend to the Job Centre.
4) Went to Sainsburys cafe.
5) Took smaller son to Sainsburys via 2 poppy fields my brother had spotted. Might walk and photograph them tomorrow.
6) Home again and worked for hours. Mist coat painted my whole room. Tidied up. Pulled all the carpet up and got it out on to the lawn, with smaller son's help. Then had to clean up (again) for another hour or so.
7) Also did 2 loads of washing. Impossible to get anything straight at the moment with the new kitchen in the dining room and bits of the old kitchen all over the place.
8) Am watching episodes of the new series of Ghosts this evening.
New kitchen window coming tomorrow!8 -

Happycas, I do love a good diary, I have a stationary weakness, esp if on sale, loved it when Paperchase existed.
1 We popped out to pick up some bits and bobs
2 We had lunch in the range
3 I may have watched curious creations with Christine mcconnell and I feel inspired to try and make, however lacking any artistic talent, I foresee this ending soon, I will share my literal monstrous creation – maybe if I make it.
4 We were looking at rugs, it’s a ferret stage of life we have wood laminate everywhere and they need some grip getting around when older, don’t we all, I was looking at a lovely rug, but ended up buying 2 marked down very large err bunny fleeces, for a fiver each as they are both double sided so kind of 2 already sewn together and with er ears and paws, well whatever they will be used everywhere while kit needs them.
5 Watching the birds enjoy the long grass.
