@DigForVictory - a set of my relatives had children all around the world. Turned out they were missionaries. Could that have been the situation with your reverend? Family history gives you a whole new look at history, doesn't it?

Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep, considering the heat.
2) Up early and had another go at the job application. Submitted it at about 9.30 a.m.
3) Walked to the local theatre where they have started having a coffee morning on Fridays. Turns out the local district council has employed a lady to do outreach in the area (a bit like a social prescriber) as it is quite a "poor" area. I played a few board games as well.
4) Then walked to the garage where they seemed very calm and organised. MOT now passed and he showed me the completely ruined suspension arm. It does hold the road noticeably better now!
5) Had a little drive to M and S.
6) Did various tidying type jobs and watered the plants.
7) Bought a small armchair off Facebook marketplace so I will be able to sit and look down the garden.
8) Looking forward to my Sainsburys order arriving later.
9) Had my first entire text conversation in Arabic. Goodness knows what it was like to read but he never complains!9 -

Hello again.
We are back from a glorious week in Northumbria, the most amazing weather and it is hot and sunny again today. Amazing!
PK - just dropped in really to see how thing are going, was thinking about you while we were away. What a time you are having.
Pleasures 1-5 for the last week:
A wonderful hoiliday with siblings and partners, much laughing and chatting, mum and dad would be so happy with how we all get on so well and meet up so often. Great accommodation - we all want to live there! Big wide-open beaches and skies, castles and little fishing harbours, lovely seafood and fresh crab sandwiches. I could go on..... !
We are back feeling refreshed and topped up with vitamin D. A final Thai meal tonight and then younger brother goes home to Wiltshire tomorrow. and we start looking forward to our next get-together in October.
Off to drink coffee in the sunshine and will then think about unpacking and getting sorted but still a bit in holiday mode so it'll happen when it happens.
Have a good day if you can.8 -
Another one back from her holidays and definitely with more freckles than when she went ☺️We were in Herefordshire and what a beautiful part of the country it is, due to the rising temperatures and what with having an elderly dog we quickly got into the routine of getting out & about early in the morning and then spending the afternoons under the parasol in the garden.
Special mention has to go to Hellens garden which were a delight, especially the water meadow walks alongside the Wye river and through the woodlands, very welcome on a hot day.
We ate well, tested out the local cider, ale & apple juice and generally had a grand time!
Will catch up on the doings but just wanted to send ((hugs)) to PK re what must have been the most frustrating of days at the hospital and a big Woohoo to Mhags on the closure of one chapter, I’m looking forward to hearing about your future plans.8 -
I hope you gave me a wave, Lainey!

4) My sister and niece popped in for a cup of tea.
5) Watched our football team with smaller son. It was incredibly hot.
6) Watched Casualty.6 -
