Hello.
Up early. Lovely sunrise.Went to beach. It was the most beautiful morning. Tide out, no one near us. And yay…only a few jellyfish. Hopefully that’s the end of jellyfish season!Went to supermarket near beach and got loads of bunches of flowers for 35p
Home. Last of the gilets washed. And dried.Puppy arrived.Had to pick up DD2 at work , so had two dogs in the back seat ! Was alright, better than I expected. They had a big race round her back garden and the last of the brambles. She made tea. Was chicken ( a bit dry! ) and veggies ( a bit soggy!) 😆
Sold three more things on Vinted so dropped off all the parcels enroute home. And home! Happy to be back in before it’s dark. New fire 🔥 flames on.8 -
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Good to get up after a short sleep.
2) In B and Q for shortly after 9 for yet more paint and filler.
3) Went to M and S to do some Arabic.
4) Back home and filled the last remaining holes and dings in some of the plaster work.
5) Finally got round to booking the car in for its MOT.
6) Picked my friend up and we painted from shortly after 2pm until about half an hour ago! Another coat on the ceilings and a first coat of colour in both the living room and the dining room. We only stopped briefly to make the dinner.
Finally, it is starting to look much better. I think it is the first time I have ever seen him look slightly tired.
7) Going to have a shower and go to bed, when I can get up from the sofa.7 -
Hello. Not so skinny club first thing. What a beautiful morning! Blue sky though was a wee bit cool first thing.Went as far as supermarket.DD2 dropped a pup off for a couple of hours.Started emptying my bedroom. It’s getting painted next week. Thought I might be chased out the room by dust bunnies but wasn’t too bad!Another parcel sent off for Vinted. And that was about it, quiet day.10

Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) The man arrived and we now have fibre broadband!
3) Went to the butchers in glass town for some halal meat and they were very chatty and pleasant. I would go to that one again.
4) Went to my sister's for a cup of tea and a scone.
5) Took smaller son to Sainsburys.
6) Started cleaning! (The reception rooms need a last coat of paint but this was a clean of little flecks of steamed off wallpaper and dust from all the sanding). Cleaned some of the internal doors, the patio doors and scraped little bits of paint off all the sockets and light switches. Also put the glass lampshades back up, which is a palaver.
7) Our football team was doing OK, but lost 2-1 in extra time.
8) Did some Arabic.
9) Watched the Casualty double bill.10 -
Not a pleasure, although it was heaven to the ferrets, our 15-year-old fig tree, came down very slowly in the early hours of the morning covering the whole garden, we initially thought it was save able just over, however it had cracked then snapped underground. So sadly, we spent the day sawing, chopping, and bagging up, I am not exaggerating when I say it had literally hundreds of figs on and so much new growth coming through it seemed wrong to be chopping it up.
1 DB staying connected is nice.
2 I drank more herbal water and tea stuff than I have ever done and I am very bloated but that may also be what they are going to do so no help, but I went in on a hot day wearing a cardigan over the top to make sure I was very warm and hydrated and a lovely lady found a vein first time.
3 We popped to B and M as its just across from the hospital and picked up puppy pads and their treats on offer so always stock up on a pet event. I needed a couple of bits for after the op and popped into Asda to pick it up and keep costs down. Everything feels pricey now.
4 I batch cooked a bolognaise/chilli base; I did try to do the marrow tonight but it was a flop we ate it but the skin was inedible despite scoring and putting olive oil on it.
5 I’ve ordered a couple of things from the gap half price sale as dh likes the quality of their things but only at half price! I’ve also ordered him something for the pain in his shoulder.
For Today
I I was miffed someone left a note on my car to see if I want to sell it, binned, but also decided to show it some love and clean it up, as DH’s car needs some work.
2 Really shouldn’t have ordered in as the budget doesn’t allow but we did and enjoyed it.
3 A lovely bath turns out its hard work chopping up a tree, and somewhat sad, now I know that sounds daft.
4 The local owls hooting away, such a relaxing sound.

Good morning. Beautiful day yesterday and looking good today.
@LaineyT and @Highdays - enjoy your holidays. Hope the weather continues to be kind.
@Admiral_Barbarossa - Happy New car
@Purple_kitten - thank goodness they found the vein. It doesn't sound at all daft being upset about a tree. A beautiful thing that's been with you all this time. More hugs x
A quiet few days
DH has continued with his pre holiday ritual of buying trousers, deciding he doesn't like them, then returning them! Gives us a walk!
Popped in to DS to deliver DD 'Save the Date' card. Stopped for a cuppa and a chat. Lovely to see them all.
More autumn tidying in the garden. A pleasant contemplative actuvity.
Re-hemming my two new dresses. They were in the sale, and not expensive anyway but I didn't like the machined hems that sort of ruckled as they went along. Another nice contemplative activity and they look loads better.
Think today will be more of the same. I'm making sure to find the pleasure in the simple humdrum 'normal' life. There still a lot to be grateful for. ( Thank you, Mhagster x)
Happy 🌞 Sunday everyone

VJsmum - rhubab cordial can last up to 3 months with 'no artificial additives' & makes a cracking long drink for drivers?PaulieHerts - delighted you are testing as over the virus & hope you Feel it soon!Purple kitten - blast it bloods - get it on your notes that once they have a line in, to leave it? Ah, stress cleaning. The training does focus on the elbow as there are several juicy possibles but remimd them " If in doubt, consult a more experienced colleague". So sorry about fig tree, but set "anything I can do to help" friends onto hatching cuttings?mhagster - very MSE to track fuel prices! There's a jellyfish season?! They're edible? Good to know DD2 is learning to be as good a cook. Emptying bedroom for painting, ulp.Frith - awed at all the wall plastering & unsuitable chap decluttering & just as the idiot caught you correctly on one small spot, don't heed the rest. If you can. Well done on friend with formidable stamina for painting. And then cleaning - ye gods... (with sockets I cheat, turn off the power, take the plastic and sit on the doorstep in daylight with a heap of rags & solvent..)Highdays - hoping the holibobs tub of Just In case meds stays sealed at the bottom of the case. Car-full of wine & booze - sounds like it should be an excellent break!SuffolkSue - the joy of a patient who can tell you where to strike gold!DundeeDoll - singing in Latin is very satisfying so long as everyone agrees on pronunciation.LaineyT - love the trip out in car with a big boot... Hurrah full livery even if they may not slip a carrot into her haynet.BoP - ah, Sherlocks...Happycas - know exactly what you mean about hemming skirts. You float & enjoy it, all the worries will be there when you get back, (as will we be cheering you on).OS Pleasures recentlyFingers crossed we keep these new colleagues for a while - the sheer effort of onboarding admin in our side is a chore, while they’ll be in training for ages & I would understand if they decided to run away screaming.Fellow rail passengers included a family going to a wedding, dressed already. One daughter carting her shoes & stumping barefoot across Leeds concourse, little brother looking Far less restrained without his suit jacket or cravat…. Lovely to see, coming & going.Friendly chiropodist just back from holiday receiving boxes of dressings etc & asking the porter to reach them up onto the proper shelves which she herself can’t reach. (I say, the perils of eavesdropping can include having to choke down giggles.)Spending the day in waiting areas & admiring the NHS whilst looking up sharply in recognition of a baby ball chiming. We had one of the same pitch, 23 years ago. [Bank Holiday Gardening - I “sprained” my hip & after 2 bad nights got it checked. Briefly suspected spinal injury now downgraded to not broken just sore-pills & then physio. Sons now trying to get me to Stop Gardening! Poor loves, to be so worried.]Oh young idiot. My reusable coffee cup lid fell out of my bag, was in his car, & he binned it, not realising it was a decent one. Argh. Frustrating that an eco friendly bit of plastic costs more than cup did originally, but even with new lid will have paid for itself likely within the year.Scout planning meeting excellent & all those young leaders who weren’t there, will be running creative activities in November, & an awful lot of games-that-are-not-four-corner-football… <happy Well Prepared grin>Car got through MOT - will v shortly need new tyre but not today (garage hadn’t got one in stock at a guess….)I say, the Fates appear to have decided to smile. Not only is it a glorious breezy day, the bedlinen I won online & hoped for drying weather for has just been delivered. Great big LaRedoute grade grin here!Hunza apricots fettled & in fridge. See how we go!My word these painkillers. Effective but life in a woozy heap is not as fun as a clear mind & the odd sharp nip should I misjudge a move.“Sometimes the juice is not worth the squeeze” - Youngest unimpressed by the second day’s attempt at line drying bedlinen. He doesn’t sleep on line dried linen, (I have offered), he wouldn’t understand.Tax update through & that the top 10 as yet untreatied tax havens are largely ex-colonies suggests that the journalists are monolingual or “I would like to open a private account” in old Dutch is a very well kept secret.Got my keep ticket office staff chit in. These folk are the helpful friendly face of travel for the bewildered, anxious, delayed (& my many other states of being). No way can a machine disentangle my intentions & gestures & expressions as quickly or as benevolently as those folks. All the little mystery seedlings that look intriguingly like they may be ash trees one day are now off the indoor windowsill, in their own pots, on an outdoor windowsill. Now I can clear the indoor windowsill ready for troughs of white lavender seedlings. Which are currently in a different shape, so that’ll be a bit intriguing. [Gosh what a scolding for alternative use of table fork & I had cleaned it scrupulously.]Eyeing the back yard, time for my hell brew of vinegar salt & washing up liquid. Other weed killers are available, this one doesn’t do for the bees. As the bumbles are cherished visitors, no matter how bad it gets out back, I’ll not be reaching for glyphosate. Sons (already vigorously of the opinion I am not safe in the garden) will just have to be put to work. I hope they’ll see it my way once it’s done!Family tree climbing sees me asked if I know more about a distant relative, & if I would like genealogical help in proving myself a Loyalist in Canada. Am preparing the boilerplate courtesies whilst wondering if I might be missing a catch. Must email Canadian family & ask if these folk are known & reasonable or I have wandered into some political minefield!Fingers crossed I will re-wash, spin, fold & peg the blinking linen out without sons opinions & then applaud them as they bring it in dry. The pillowcases felt lovely but got dewdamp again, the theory is fine…. [Washed, spun, pegged. Hopefully in the linen chest tonight!]Ordered the Bonne Maman advent calendar for mum - this year fewer jams & more fancy teas. It’s a new-ish tradition but I’ve not got to the making of several tiny jars myself yet, so I’ll cheer mum on. Whilst looking pleadingly at the jostaberry loganberry & tayberry for the homegrown homemade eye catchers. (Not placing Any pressure on the baby Morello tree this year or next!)Dear me, this foamed concrete issue may have almost a big an impact as covid - schools, hospitals, courts all at structural risk. May all we love stay safe. (I’ll be eyeing toilets a lot more carefully.)Booking up on radio protocol for jamboree on the internet & airwaves - I love how the scout codes are intended to share information while the military ones are much more restricted. (ExArmy colleague’s use of mobile unique in my experience. Chatters easy as a magpie in person, flips to idiomatic terse by telecoms. I’m intrigued!)Youngest has gallumphed up to enquire what the odd noises mean (I’m genuinely snorting with laughter) & has sensibly out the kettle on.Health, Strength, Love & Courage to all as have need, along with well-laden freezers & helpful folk about for the sticky bits be they phlebotomists or there with the hug & the brew as needed.9

DfV the absolute joy is a phlebotomist/practice nurse / dr who actually listens and is prepared to take the leap of faith finding the vein !!!

D4V your posts are epic, please take it easy to allow the aches to heal
1 Popped the air con on for a bit, very much a luxury.
2 I hoovered my car, then thought I may as well do DH’s as well. Then I shampooed and jet washed it off and helped dh do his also. All bought on by someone asking if mine was for sale cheeky arris!
3 HM Chilli was tea.
4 Arranged a day away from housework and organising things.
5 I’ve been trying to organise things today I took all the bedding sets out and created all in one set to get out of the cupboard, and got rid of an old sheet, well it will be ferret bedding for a few days and then binned. But still a lot to do, I think I have far too many books that maybe need to be shared, or the other way of looking at it is, I need a bigger room / more shelving. I popped a rather large spider out of the office while I was trying to start tidying, and it literally ran back in!!!
6 Fresh clean bedding for us and the ferrets, and 4 lots of washing hung out.
