Good morning.
The weather is holding so far, lucky for us as the builders can get on.
Pleasures:
1) Have sorted myself out and back to my happy, little self.
2) My new patio is looking super-duper, just as we envisaged. Just being finished off this morning.
3) Got the bulk of the cleaning done earlier in the week so a quick dust round today to get rid of the film of builders' dust and a whizz over the bathrooms in the morning and the house is ready for my lunch visitors tomorrow. Would like to think we will now keep on top of it but the reality may well be that the deep cleaning won't get done til we entertain again and a lick and a promise may suffice til then. Anyway, all looks good for the moment.
4) Son's friend came yesterday afternoon. Lovely to see him, they have been friends since they were four so 39 years. They both have three children now and successful careers and are all grown up. It's a big pleasure that they have kept in touch over the years.
5) Some food prep to do today and sorting plates, dishes, etc and then hopefully an hour in my summerhouse this afternoon when the builders have gone. Got a good book to finish off and a new one to start, like to be well into a book before bedtime reading so that's my excuse!
Right, better crack on a bit, hope you enjoy your Sunday.8 -
Morning all 😊
It’s been a rough week as my water logged ears have caused headaches and general feeling yuk! Not much done, although went swimming twice (wearing trusty earplugs, problem was caused at hairdresser where I forgot to plug my ears! And I feel ok horizontal 🤣).
A couple of dips in the hot tub when the sun was out and that was about it.
Felt a bit better yesterday so supervised OH cutting wild bits off the apple tree and I dug up potatoes and picked runner beans (all free as potatoes planted from some sprouting and beans were from last years saved seeds). Also picked up the windfall apples.Stir fry last night with a few runner beans and pork loins today with homegrown potatoes and beans 😊
Have a good Sunday everyone.8 -
Hello.Shift number eight done . Seven to go.Up early and a quick doggy walk.Home mid morning. Hello doggy. He then had lunchtime visitors.Tips…meh but in the jam jar.Another day of showers but washing hung out at 6.30am was dry enough at 4.30pm. Loads of towels and bath mat that was absolutely saturated washing /drying the dog last night!Had a leftover from work baked potato for my tea with tuna and salad. And very nice it was too. Popped it in the airfryer for 6 minutes and it crisped it up/ heated it up just nicely as I chopped up my salad veg.5

More moto e13 finding out needed. For instance, adding pics drop-down on mse doesn't function. Protective case ordered to arrive by South American River transport.
Anyway -
1. International Lefthanders Day https://g.co/kgs/Ag2CrfWho knew? Suits &. 😃
2. Not long back from happy, non-stop grazing Japanese barbecue afternoon with young rugby/scientist friends. Remarkable, fabulous munch prepped by both. Met half a dozen gifted young scientists and their families, work colleagues, learning that their entire research is in oncology. Have never asked what field they worked in during 10 years of increasinly wide friendship. Not Alma talk, but today was different.🙏
3. Glorious matches yesterday - in The Alma, of course. Universal joy at Farrell's red card. Lifetime ban longed for.... won't happen though.🤬😡👺 & seule amid many Shelford RC friends to be supporting Les Bleus. What a contrast in matches!
4. Another score of figs picked and taken as offering this afternoon.
5. Feeling conscious of all osps.

For yesterday,
Up early as per small dog’s bladder! Did a long, but interesting survey so time not wasted.
Bacon butties then straight out into garden, Capt S continuing with the mammoth hedge trimming with me labouring and in between doing other jobs, I moved some of the herb pots to back of cottage which is more in the sun and will better suit the Mediterranean types, planted some Achilleas and a bronze fennel into the sunniest border, plus an Echinacea into one of my Mum’s old pots. Finally ate lunch at 4pm!
Evening walk around the fields, not so warm so small dog had a bit more energy.
Watched an old Vera but both asleep before the end so goodness knows all did it7 -

Good morning. Sunny again after a very grey day yesterday. But, as others have said, there's already that tangy autumn feeling in the air
Well, we bit the bullet and have sold the caravan back to the site. Not a huge price but a fair one and less hassle than selling privately. So we have until Oct 1st to clear it out. I think the charity shops will get most of the contents. We'll be sad to see it go but it's the right thing to do.
So, to the next chapter! My new keyword is simplify. With that in mind, today's trip is to the charity shop with surplus throws, curtains etc. They've hung around for too long now. Also some large toys that are now grown out of. Fewer things to clean up around.
We sorted out the garage freezer too. Iceland is next to the charity shop so we'll pop in there to fill some gaps.
Was going to sew today, but I've had next to no sleep so maybe not. I make too many mistakes when I'm tired.
Time to choose a new book and hopefully sit in the sun
Happy Tuesday everyone

Quiet on the board 🤷🏻♀️For yesterday,
At the stables, my girlie had obviously rolled a lot during the night and was filthy! Typical as my pal was going to ride her so a speedy brush down was needed and she was tacked up in time. She was a bit unsettled but worked well for my friend.
Stopped at the egg stand in one of the villages on the way home, they had tomatoes too so picked up a bag of them as well.
Filled up the car with petrol and on to the emporium for a food shop, met my friend for a coffee.
The rain which was forecasted for the morning finally rolled across in the afternoon so no gardening but I did get a few jobs done in the house, including a cupboard clear out.
Quiz night so little grey cells tested.5 -
Hello again.
Been warm and dry and sometimes sunny today after rain yesterday for my visitors coming - boo!
Some pleasures:
1) Love that time just before the chaos of visitors decending when the house is immaculate, the food is ready and we are good to go, the calm before the storm! Would love my house to look like that all the time but at the end of the day it's a home not a showhome - does scrub up well though!
2) Also love the moment the visitors arrive and there are hugs, chatter. laughs and the pleasure of good company. Had a good day in spite of the rain, they had a good look at progress since they last came and we had a good catch up.
3) All the food I had planned and prepared went down very well and was enjoyed by all. I love having people who mean a ot to me round my table enjoying good food, I'm a bit of a feeder at heart I think! Some bits and pieces left to cobble tea together today, I always enjoy the leftovers more, too busy on the day making sure everyone else is fed and happy.
4) A day out today at The Armouries in Leeds with little fella. Lots going on combat-wise and watching the horses being put through their paces, stroll along the canal in the sunshine and lots of swords, armour, weapons and suchlike to keep an 8 year old engrossed. My third visit - took my bairn when he was younger, took his two eldest sons when little fella was a baby and took the little chap today, I think I'm done now!
5) A busy fortnight, I am tired - one of the downsides of getting older! - but I'm done now for a bit. Some gentle tasks will need doing but otherwise the house is clean, we have plenty of easy to prepare foodstuff, I have new books that need reading, the boys are back to their mum's til next week so no 'babysitting' duties so I am now having a staycation til at least Monday. Bliss!
Have a good evening, clouding over here a bit now.6 -
Hello. It’s been such a pleasant day here weather wise.Up early.Chatted to sister early…as she’s up too!Went to supermarket, then to town to get a refund, then to pick up an order for GN, then home.C’mon doggy , we’re off to a castle. And off we went and enjoyed a roll and slice in the courtyard and a nice walk round the walled garden. And home…
Cut the grass.Power washed the patio.Humphed furniture from one side of the garden to the other! This week is all about getting my garden nice and tidy.Hoovered downstairs and washed floors. Cleaned my bathroom. Then it was time for tea. We had gammon joint and lots of veggies. ( peas straight from the garden) and fruit for pudding. And a wee tomato 🍅 from the greenhouse. Only two ripe ones.A lovely evening of laughter and chatter.7
