5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Hello. Just in from an hours walk with work colleague and her chatterbox boy!Oh what a day it’s been. Snots and tears and happiness and feeling a bit sad.My husbands birthday today and all the coulda and shouldas don’t change a thing. I miss him every single moment of every single day but some days are just blooming hard!Anyway a beautiful sunrise.Power cleaned the patio. Looks much better, I’d moved chairs and it was a bit murky where they’d been.
went into town , parked at supermarket carpark and walked down the steep hill.Met DD2 for lunch on her lunch break so I got there a wee bit earlier and ordered and it was absolutely perfect timing as food arrived just as she sat down.I had a BLT. We were out for OH’s birthday but just half an hour before this she got her exam results and she’d passed ( with absolutely flying colours I’ll proudly add) so that was another reason to celebrate. I’m so proud of her as she’s worked very hard and is now fully qualified. But the person I wanted to share it all with was my husband, so that’s where the snots and tears come in. But what a lovely birthday gift for him!Popped into favourite florist and got a few flowers. Then into charity shop and got a lovely linen dress ( with pockets) and a size down pair of cropped jeans.Home and hello doggy and sobbed some more. Then cut the back grass, front will do another week but back grass grows like a crazy thing! Then went to put something in my recycling bin and there was a random wee doggy running and barking, managed to get a hold of it ( though no collar on) and a chap kept it for me till I ran back inside to get a collar and lead and my phone. Anyway long story short after about 20 very long minutes it was reunited with its owner…meanwhile my tea was getting cold 😆
Then a very nice walk and chatter.11 -
Hope you are alright, MHags.
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Good to get up. I hurt my foot yesterday by accidentally kicking a table (don't ask) and I don't know what happened to it overnight but the pain woke me up every time I turned over. It has improved steadily all day.
2) Did some Arabic.
3) Had an email which led to this conversation with my neighbour, after my house being put on the market way back in November and selling in March...
"Got a date to move yet?" "Wednesday". "Which Wednesday?" "Wednesday..." "Yes, but which date on a Wednesday?" "Wednesday!"
Yes, I have been given 6 days to moving day!
4) Spent the day phoning removals companies. Only one could book me in at such short notice.
5) Decommissioned our geocache in the front garden.
6) Left a note in the other neighbours letter box to ask if we can borrow their cat box on Wednesday!
7) Cleared the airing cupboard and made a pile of old clothes and fabric to take to the recycling. Also a pile of charity shop stuff and a pile of books for the hotel.

Morning everyone.
Great news on the house move, Frith, all systems go now!
Thinking of those with anniversaries, so hard.
Recent pleasures:
1) GP surgery rang to book blood tests. A positive step forward.
2) The meds are working, thank goodness, and my face is looking a bit more recognisable and not so red and swollen.
3) One good side effect is that the tablets make me so sleepy, not so good in the day but blissful at night. I climb into bed and am out like a light, have the deepest sleep all night and wake refreshed. Oh to do this in 'real life' when I am a rubbish sleeper!
4) All the boys break up for the summer holidays today. Six lovely weeks of no school runs, uniform hunts and the like and nice, long relaxed days. Let's hope we get some summer holiday weather.
5) Lots of niggly little jobs are getting ticked off the list. Have felt a bit under the weather this week so no big stuff has been done but I've tackled little five minute jobs when I've felt up to it and it's amazing how they add up and free up some mind space if nothing else!
Looks like it might be a bit brighter and warmer today, hope you have a good one.

4. the house is partially cleaned - about to be finished off
5. watched some things - long lost family and Manifest (though am getting bored with the latter).
have a good evening.I wanna be in the room where it happens6 -
hugs mhags and well done DD2
for yesterday
1) blissfully uneventful flight though of course woke every hour fretting I'd miss my 4:30 alarm (I didn't) - had saved a couple of vanilla creme-filled croissants which happened to be sealed individually so had those for breakfast on the flight and treated myself to a cup of tea
2) got the intercity to Dordrecht - sat upstairs - drank my refilled water bottle and read my book
3) DD2 met me off the train and we bought very nice sarnies and ate them in the park
4) she was working from home, I slept
5) we watched a very silly midsommer murders (is there anything but?) then zzzzzz
and for today
1) she was working in the office in the morning so we got the train to Rotterdam and she showed me her office - 7th floor - I said i'd meet her at 1 and very proud i remembered to note the floor
2) having got a map at the tourist info (1 euro but I felt well worth it) I had a lovely wander - bought a cuppa and a peach at a supermarket (1 euro 73 which seemed incredibly good value!) and sat people-watching
3) explored the docks and a lovely park then back to the DD2's office for 1 - I couldn't remember which building d'oh - so gave her a text and she met me at the station
4) different sandwich bar - chose a very nice salad
5) weeded her garden while she worked and now she's cooking supper.
Flight ticket still not sorted - all I need is the booking reference!!! tempted though this time to just rock up Monday with my passport and hope for the best. It's Easyjet rather than Ryanair so hopefully they'll be more helpful. Someone is still trying to sort it out Malta end but only the first line of her email arrived - i am clearly jinxedMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) The sellers of my new house have agreed to fix the leak under the kitchen sink and agree that moving will take place on Wednesday...
Of course contracts have not actually been exchanged yet so all this work may be for nothing. I also haven't dared to commit to the removal company. They might exchange tomorrow or Monday.
3) I went to the skip with garden waste, old fabric plus the kitchen bin contents (as the wheelie bin is already full). I would have left the buyer with empty bins but I didn't have enough notice!
4) Bought tickets for the first home pre season football (tomorrow).
5) Went to M and S for a cup of tea and did some Arabic.
6) Used my free Sparks offer and got smaller son a cake.
7) Using up stuff from the freezer. Smaller son had sausage sandwiches for lunch. Then we had Eton Mess to finish the frozen raspberries. Then I had one of the Spanish Chicken portions.
8) Football this evening. I took 3 guys. While I was parked at the hotel, about 5 guys gathered around my car and studied the dents in minute detail. They came to an agreement out on how to polish the scratches out and how to push the door dent out from the inside (of course!!) They asked if I wanted them to do it tomorrow. I was non-committal but I know they would do it.
9) Watched the game which was OK, but never really got going, unlike the last one. I stood behind the opposition goal and the goalie actually had a chat with me once or twice!8 -
Morning! Was too late to post my Thursday pleasures so here goes before I forget them!
Up early with doggy.
Went to seaside town to meet niece and the little chap. We went for a breakfast roll, a play at the park, a walk along the beach, he had an ice cream cone, a mooch round the charity shops ( got a nice green summer top. I just don’t seem to see as much nice stuff as I used to and wonder if folk are selling more on Vinted rather than donating??)
Dropped a bag of stuff off at the first charity shop we came to.
Home and hello doggy. Bit of pottering in garden. Lots of deadheading each time I go out.Tidied upstairs. Hoovered. Cleaned windows. Cleaned bathrooms. Polished.DD2 picked me up on her way home from work to go to hers for tea. We had some lovely Indian food and good conversation with her chaps parents, then she dropped me off home.Home and a huge big chat with my friend who’s back holidays so lots to chat about! ( hence why I was late last night!)8 -
Good morning
Been a busy couple of days, mostly spent at the hospital with DH.
Wednesday morning saw consultant 1. A further op needed to ensure all cancer removed, though first results were encouraging.
Then afternoon saw consultant 2. He will leave DH on an open appointment for a year until consultant 1 happy.
Thursday morning pre op assessment.
Phew.
There are pleasures though. The main one being the kindness and patience of everyone, the consultant, oncology nurse, the coffee lady, the bloods man - just everyone really
.
Another pleasure is the proximity of the hospital. 10 minutes drive to the park and ride then 5 mins on the little bus
The support of family and friends.
A new favourite poem ( John Anderson - Robert Burns) It joins Ithaca in my Desert Island poems list.
A quiet day today I think. I hope!
Happy Friday everyone9
