Good morning. Sunny again😃
DfV - my certificate provider was a close friend. She also used to sign my passport photos! What about one of the scout leaders?
Yoohoo Admiral. Or do I mean, Ahoy there!
D Doll - hope all is well and that you're just busy/ on your travels
All is well here. Our caravan is on a large but very quiet campsite. A bit busier at the weekend but mostly seems to be just us, a few other people of a similar age, and a lot of rabbits. Just how we like it.
Fish and chips last night were delicious. And the lad who served us came from the next village to us originally. Small world!
Well, another day of wanders and pauses for coffee on the cards. There's much joy in simple pleasures at the moment.
Happy 🌞 day everyone6 -
Hey Admiral, hope all is well in your world.
For yesterday,
A very warm & sunny day.
Over to see my equine pal before it got too hot, we did a little groundwork but she was distracted with a lot of head tossing and close to I could see why, she was covered in loads of those tiny black flies, thrips we call them around here. They were obviously attracted to her because she is so light coloured. Work stopped and took her in the wash bay for a cool bath with tea tree shampoo. Left her in her stable with a hay net and went for a walk with my pal & her horse.
Home and gratefully changed into sundress.
Watched the cricket, we are at least in with a shout and once again it’s all down to our Captain.
Easy tea of beef kofta kebabs with salad followed by ice-cream.6 -
1. Courtesy car, hooray! So, now up on The Gallops, rainy and grey and exceedingly steamy. Listening to Wimbledon and Rafa's successor, Alcaraz, who is learning well about grass, with good opposition from Chilean, Nicolàs Jarry.
2. Rugby Club AGM last night. & had held off checking with garage re: fuel tank replacement update, but finally phoned yesterday afternoon, in order to arrange transport. In &'s fenny land, the very few buses vaporise by 18h. Managed another 3-bus trek and courtesy car is bliss. Fuel tank should have arrived Monday, but didn't until 16h yesterday! Sod's law, saw diesel is now 1p per litre cheaper than petrol, courtesy car being the latter. Filled it anyway.
3. Pleased with rugby club election result last night. & will work well with X, hard-worker, now taking further legal exams. Achieved LLM last year, having arrived some years ago under own steam from Zimbabwe to do it the hard way and now invited to do more. Never misses training, tough for his build. Always an all-round pitch-in volunteer.
4.
This had broken glass, badly mish-mashed in a 60s frame, not professionally done. Spotted it on floor behind counter when handing in 2 bags of good clothing for CS. So much &'s France, Sénanque Abbey in the Vaucluse. Carefully extracted messy glass, returned frame to CS. This is a keeper for &, regardless of artistic merit.
5a. Wonderful msgs+pics from Aotearoa via the young academics. Conference a great success. Now in the South Island for a week.
& mentioned the TSS Earnslaw, still running, launched 1912. They've just done it, loved it, with blue sky winter's day and mulled wine
5b - took 120 bottles of undated ginger ale, discovered at Peacock HQ, to night shelter after AGM. Very well-received, better than wasting and permitted.
5c - .....then carried on to The Alma. Young rugby/scientist friends, married last year, had invited & to join them for meal, but & explained AGM. They were still there, so lovely catch-up and news shared. Both love Japan, where X has just been awarded a special 3 months' research contract from October. They are both so happy. Drove other young rugby friend/archaeologist, home when pub shut at midnight.
Do enjoy your weekends everyone.
Meantime, ohhhh Alcaraz! Ohhhhh, Jarry.
Alcaraz has now put himself within a game of round 4. Jarry has actually prepared him brilliantly. Carlos, serving for the match..... This has to be the best possible preparation for beating vile Djokovic, should that be the final next weekend. YESSSS!!!!!!!!

DfV I recently did the POA's online for the in laws, it's quite a long wait once in. I think we are at the end of 20 weeks, and it should be ready next week I think.
Ops I’ve been awry unintentionally.
Feeling a bit fed up with the neighbours, I take time to talk to them when I’m out of the front, and they arrive back etc, but they only ever acknowledge DH tonight it was extremely obvious to the point even DH commented.
1 The second coat of paint is on, hoping to call that it for now.
2 Starting to plan for getting away, need to get batch cooking again.
3 Popped out to Aldi for some bits and bobs, strawberries for later, their aircon was lovely.
4 Enjoying basic gardening, feeding plant food and making sure the beans and toms are making progress.
5 I picked up a maxi skirt reduced 70 percent in the Joe Brown's sale.

Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Another appalling sleep and up again early. Presumably I shall catch up at some point.
2) Park Run. For further excitement, bigger son arrived on his bike at the end and had a chat with everyone then played table tennis.
3) I cleaned the downstairs.
4) Went to 2nd mum and dad's so I could have a witness to signing the house paperwork. Had a cup of tea there.
5) Went to Costa and did an hour of Arabic. I have just done another couple of hours. Suddenly, I can form sentences. I only seem to see speakers of Arabic for about 5 minutes here and there or when they are playing table tennis!
6) Popped to Sainsburys for some mozzarella to make a pizza for smaller son. Saw my boss there and had a chat.
7) Signed up to a free Open University course.
8) Will watch television in bed just now.

For yesterday,
Not a great nights sleep as too warm overnight so it was a pleasure to get up. Made a loaf and whilst it was proving the oven baked some croissants for breakfast, had them with the last of the raspberry jam.
With my equine pal, cleaned her and then my tack, it’s a job I’ve never minded doing mainly down to the nice smell of the leather conditioner. My girl has clearly finished her season as happily standing next to her stable mate instead of glaring at him, ears flat, through the bars! Long chat with fellow owner.
Listening to TMS on way home, our own Martin Lewis was Aggers guest.
Afternoon spent in garden, muggy and hot so mostly reading in shade with a few chores done in between.
Finally the cricket was on, DSS there for second day running, exciting match and we had another screen open showing the England U21 footballers winning the European cup. Good day.6 -
And day of workety work number one done…and I’ll be consigning it to the bin! An atrocious day! The pleasure is it’s done!Pleasant walk first thing in the drizzle. Apparently there were huge thunderstorms through the night…me the most rubbish sleeper in the world heard not a thing! There were tips. There was an end to the most atrocious day!Came home and made some curry and rice for my tea…with a homegrown courgette in it!7

Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to a nearby festival (4 miles away) to see my friend who comes from a long way away, who had a stall there. Had a vegan curry with a few chips for my lunch.
3) Finally got the washing dry, after 2 days on the line! An absolutely massive storm at about 4pm.
4) Went to Sainsburys cafe and had a pot of tea and did some Arabic.
5) Pizza and salad for smaller son and salad and crab for me.
6) Spoke to my school friend.7
