Hello.Up and at ‘em bright and early and on the beach for 5.30am..gave the other chap who’s there at the same time a wave as I came in to the carpark.Beautiful walk. And such a lovely drive through the countryside.Home. Went into town for an hour and to favourite florist for peonies. And I was given an extra three in my bunch as they were a bit flowery ! Oh my goodness they are stunning.Supermarket. Oooft at the prices! Then home and just kind of pottered around. Made a pavlova for tea tonight.Chat to sister.Quick chat to DD1 who was between airports. It’s been a day of traveling. She finally got to her destination about 11pm local time.Friends over for dinner. Had made pavlova at request of the birthday girl! And a load of fresh fruit too. Made chicken wrapped in cheese and bacon with broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and Jersey potatoes. Was all very yummy. And as usual much laughter and chatter.Been quite a humid day, had 2 small showers so don’t need to water tonight but really need another big downpour.7

Pleasures for today (Tuesday). Annoyed all day. A photo to follow which was supposed to be showing the rain coming in off the hill, but it actually captures my grumpy face perfectly!
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to work a.m. The last GCSE invigilation (mocks to follow). Only one boy in my room so I managed the "well done, you have now left school!" speech. It nearly chokes me up every year!
3) Went to Floody City afterwards for some brunch. Did a lot of Arabic. Also did some in WhatsApp with an Arab speaking friend.
4) Smaller son wanted to go to Sainsburys, so we did.
5) Made burgers for tea.
6) Went for a walk and got caught in the rain.
7) Wrote an email to the solicitor, worded exceedingly politely, suggesting we had "reached an impasse" and we could part ways amicably and I was willing to find another company. Within 10 minutes, I had had a reply, suggesting exactly the suggestion made by smaller son last week, which the solicitor had poo pooed... I now have to get 3 bank statements as PDFs (First Direct take 24 hours to do this, no idea why) and bigger son has to perfect the online digital signature thing.
8) Fed next doors cats and they are still alive.
9) The unsuitable young man suddenly reappeared (online) at the weekend after several months, with the usual wonderful promises. Now well over 48 hours of silence again. I obviously need to learn the hard way. Pleasure is that I have kept busy.

Good morning. Sunny again
Gosh Frith. You do look cross!
Highdays - sounds as if you've been having a great time. So lovely to spend time with those we love.
Life is ticking along nicely here.
Lots of rain which watered the garden and washed the car so that's two jobs crossed off the list.
DH friend came to visit yesterday afternoon which perked him up no end. And then his oldest friend, who we should have been staying with in Spain, rang so that was good too.
DH appetite has returned so I'm cooking again. Butter chicken curry yesterday. I think maybe fish pie today. Good to be back in harness. I never cook when it's just me. Just bit and bob with sandwiches and biscuits so it's much better for me too.
A real commotion in our street yesterday. Half a dozen magpies shouting very noisily at a cat. The cat had slunk beneath a parked car and wisely stayed there. Eventually someone walked down the street and the magpies flew away. That's about as much excitement as we ever get in our street. Which I'm pleased about.
DH hopes to be well enough to go out for coffee this morning. I think he fancies a change of scenery. Think I'd enjoy that too so fingers crossed we manage it.
Happy 🌞day everyone

For yesterday, Midsummer eve
Weather couldn’t be less summery, starting with gentle rain at breakfast but by the time I got to the stables it was more like a monsoon.
Equine pal had appointment with physio, nice chap whose has had to cope with a lot of heartbreak in last few years but is now in a much happier place. My girl enjoyed her treatment and was yawning & sleepy afterwards.
Home and rain had stopped, picked some sage leaves for drying plus hung up a bunch of lavender for same.
Made a loaf and whilst that was proving a bacon & egg pie as well, bit worried about making pastry as v warm by that point but turned out ok.
The cricket, wish we had won obviously! but wow what a game.7 -
1 I am not sure this can ever be classed as a pleasure, but it will be when its finished, house maintenance, I got on and sugar soaped all of the areas that will get an undercoat of paint, its all “fiddly things” louvre doors, doorways and the last part of the downstairs hallway skirting. I was hoping to get a coat of paint on today, but life had other plans.
2 I did get our bedding changed, with a lot of 4 paw help, they are what make otherwise known as chores fun.
3 A couple of loads of washing hung out, given I was rudely awakened by the most massive thunderclap and very heavy rain, and picked up poor little polo who was peering up at me wondering what on earth is going on.
4 Grateful that I had some pre made sauces already made up for days like today, used a bolognaise up.
For today
1 Up and out for an unfriendly covid jab by the grumpiest doctor around, I did my best to make him smile and eventually he did!
2 A ponder around the CS’s only a pound spent on a long purple velvet maxi skirt with embroidery on, very me for a whole pound.
3 We had a full brekkie at our favourite café for lunch, it’s so much nicer when someone else has created all the washing up for it.
4 Bemused at how bone dry the garden is considering the amount of heavy rain, and examined the now broken by rain tomato plants, I’ve pinned them up to see if the stems are now dead.
5 Sitting here mending 2 maxi skirts, one where I’m not 7ft tall and one where the stitching has missed all fixable, just
6 I’ve just booked in a couple of days out we always said we would do, one is the Dungeness sound mirrors, the other is the Crossness tour, all booked in to make sure we do them.
7 An easy dinner mainly cobbled cold potatoes and salad, with a cooked chicken breast stuffed with pepper and phili.

Hello again.
Hot again but very damp underfoot after a shower of biblical proportions drenched us earlier. Midsummer? Hmm....
Today's pleasures:
1) A normal 'Monday Tea' couple of days at home, there is pleasure in the routine - as long as the routine is made up of pleasurable things and at our advanced age we make sure that is the case!
2) Nice to be back here catching up on my OS pals, a lovely community to be part of.
3) Order of books and supplies arrived today for my new art project. Can't wait to get my summerhouse/studio up and running but the desk/table I ordered at the beginning of April is currently being made but won't be ready for delivery for another 7-14 days. Very happy to support small local industries and no doubt it will be a thing of beauty but what a blummin' wait.
4) Putting some flesh on the bones of our family plans for the rest of the year. Lots of lovely things to look forward to right up to
the C-word in December. Actually, beyond that too as I think a 'pilgrimage' to Rome is on the cards for next October. Not a pilgrimage in the true sense of the word but my mum and dad loved it so much they desperately wanted us to go and we never made it when they were here but now we are all going to go for a holiday, and no doubt a Chianti toast will be raised in their honour. Crickey, I miss them, so much I need to tell them.
5) Have contacted my eldest niece to arrange her help in sorting our Ruby Wedding pressie for my brother and sister-in-law next month. She is totally on board and very happy to help. They will be very thrilled and touched - hopefully!
Right, very quick and easy tea tonight, may be able to have it in the garden after all, it's beautiful out there now. Just off to pick some of my lettuce, it's had a good wash!
Longest day of the year so hope you've been able to make the most of it and had a good one, the nights will start drawing in from tomorrow.

HelloTook my sil out to lunch, (I had crab pappardelle and soda water) as she is paying for my initial consultation, xrays and 6 appointments! 😘
Back from our wonderful holiday in Lesvos for 6 days now and the washing pile has gone but the ironing pile is still half there!
back in some sort of routine as OH is back at work full time (following his ankle op and then holiday leave). So glad I don’t have to back to work, I used to dread it after a holiday ☹️
Trying to eat healthily as I really need to lose the weight that has accumulated again! Mostly salads but did make a stiffado to relive our holiday!
I had my first chiropractic appointment today, he did a little work on my left leg/knee, he said my right ankle was locked, yanked my leg and said it was unlocked 🤞 Confirmed there is a problem with my right hip area, but at the back and confirmed Scoliosis. X rays taken and appointment on Monday to discuss. Ankle does feel better 🤞
We had torrential rain yesterday and the loudest clap of thunder I have ever heard, frightened the life out of me.
Hope everyone is doing ok. Have a good night 💤7 -
No photo of my glinting, angry, obsidian eyes today. Still annoyed and disappointed with the world...
PK - We loved Dungeness but didn't see the sound mirrors. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0001hxg
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) 2 shifts of exam work. One child in the morning exam had the same name as smaller son (almost unheard of) so I had a quick look at him as I walked by! The office lady accidentally greeted me in her own language (which is not English) so I said a jovial "Guten Morgen" back to her (she isn't German!)
3) Had a pot of tea in a cafe just up the road between exams. Did some Arabic.
4) Next doors cats are still alive. They have only been on holiday 2 days and the cats have already torn up the carpet in the room where they have to be shut in...
5) Texts from bigger son so we think there may be some sort of action at the solicitors.
6) Tired out this afternoon, so we had an Indian for tea.
7) Will watch Sewing Bee just now.
8) 96 hours of silence from the unsuitable man but can't quite make myself block him and move on (once again).

Frith...sometimes we all need unsuitable. I remember those days wistfully!
1. Joyous Litha☀️ lovely day.
2. Had a witchy moment in my garden circle which is surrounded by lemon balm and sage.
3. Beloved put up 3 shelves for my girly bits and bobs.
4. Lovely bath, bubbles and peace.
5. Freezer meals for tea so I didn't heat the kitchen!2013 NSD 100. CC2014CC- £31.50/£1352014 NSD 86 so far - May 20/212014 G/C spend £741.55 so far May £107.99/£91Debt Free - 30.05.13 Emergency tin - £1000June 23 - 9NSD8 -
For yesterday,
Awake early, not quite early early enough for the sunrise but I love these long days.
Bit of sloggus domesticus then skipped off to the stables, some days my mini can’t get there quick enough!
Playing ponies in the sun with my pals.
Our big hedge is coming into blossom and is now competing with the honeysuckle to be the top fragrance in the garden.
Off out with another group of friends, laughter and good food, a great way to celebrate Litha 🌞8
